  1. We've booked and had the price drop and then rebooked through FlightEase. It wasn't huge - like $100 or something, but every bit!
  2. We always laugh when we hear the departing one - we call it the "GET UP and GET OFF!" announcement.
  3. I agree. It sounded like we might hit the limit when taking into account waters, coffees, mocktails (or soda's), but we never actually came close. I seem to recall at a couple of bars, they would try to make sure we were alternating using cards as a couple - this would help if one drinks more than the other to avoid hitting that limit, but we never did get that close anyway.
  4. Full disclosure. I keep lurking on Carnival because they often offer us "free" last minute cruises ... so trying to capitalize on that. We've only done 2 Carnival, (pre Covid) but we enjoyed both.
  5. I would think "11" nights would be a little too long for the party crowd, but you never know. Actually our 1st Carnival was out of Long Beach - a 4 nighter which we only learned later should be a booze cruise. We didn't really notice, but then again, we tend to avoid crowds and are to bed early so they were probably out there partying .. while we slept....
  6. There is a HAL regular currently on the Venezia (NE/Canada) doing a live from thread (I would post the poster info but don't know how ..) Have been lurking on that a thread a bit as considering Carnival from New York on the Venezia but have not sailed with Carnival for a few years.
  7. Grab it if you can. I am seeing over $3K Canadian for an inside 😐
  8. I am signed in when I look... I don't think I am up to that level of Mariner discount 😉
  9. Same here, no were near that price when I look. I'd agree - book it !!!
  10. I agree and like the cruise lines have no allegiance when it come to air lines. Price ...schedule .. and "how many planes/alternatives do you have in case something goes wrong?" mostly come into play when we book air. We do have a leaning to Air Canada as we have an Aeroplan Visa so no baggage fees which can wipe out savings on some of the lower cost options (at least for trips requiring a bag each). Somebody here mentioned looking at Detroit airport as an option for flying. Was looking at cruises from New York and flights to New York from Detroit verses Toronto. I was stunned - as low as $75 CDN round trip from Detroit ...crazy prices .. I keep my expectations in line when airlines have to try to compete with pricing like that.
  11. When I search logged in, the price drops when I go through a booking. When I complete a booking - it says "Casino discount applied" in the summary - so I assume my discounted price is a result of a Casino fare. If you call a PCC (or I assume HAL direct if you don't have a PCC) they can tell you based on your Mariner number.
  12. Thanks for posting this - already planning our dining for our cruise next week (went to find the link since your screen shot didn't include the med 😄). As non-meat eaters who love seafood but don't/can't cook the majority of these seafood options - this is really something to really look forward to! (not that we need more to look forward to ..but it's kinda big for us)
  13. We are non-meat eaters, and have been very impressed with HAL's daily fish offerings in the MDR on all our HAL cruises thus far (5 since Covid), but you might be right in Alaska (and Norway) stood out. High fish expectations for the Med next week 😄
  14. Thanks for your update. If you are 6 days in on a 24 day Oosterdam cruise we must be joining you part way on the 26th in Trieste. 😄
  15. If the original fare was $50/day and the new fare is now $75/day he/she pays their original fare minus $75. That would be fair (OBC issues aside)
  16. I think you are right, this would make more sense. The prorate per day of the higher rate is to determine a credit back against the original fare so works in his/her favour.
  17. I'm with you - I think "minimally" it should be prorated to a 13 day cruise based on the fare when you booked. As a gesture of good will, I would have liked to see them honour the 14 day OBC perks you had at booking. I am a generous person - but honestly, I think that is just what I would expect to be done. And why wouldn't they .. how many people even booked in that window before the change? Shouldn't really be a big deal for them to throw you a bone.
  18. If you are getting Casino discounts, you won't see the discounted price until you follow through with a mock booking at least until you select the room categories. At that point the price will just drop if there is a Casino discount for you. Not sure how/when other Mariner private fares show up.
  19. Let us know how it turns out. We are on your cruise and called in to upgrade (interior to Obstructed OV) for a nominal fee a couple of weeks back to get a sofa in the room. Maybe we should have waited? 🙂 Good luck and see you next week!
  20. I realize this is better asked on Port forum but since you seem to have knowledge ... As a cruise to/from NY is on our "to-do" list and we would be flying, would either NY or NJ cruise departures be easier? We have options to either airport as well. From a cursory look it seems really any NY/NJ airport to either NY/NJ cruiseport would be at least be "reasonable" - is that true? We are very mobile (still 🤞) We did do the Staten Island Ferry "tour" of the Statue of Liberty. Just kind of tripped on it by mistake looking for a proper tour boat .. was a great mistake to make!
  21. We've been stuck in San Juan due to winter storm affecting much of the Eastern US and Canada, American Airlines rebooked us through Miami, where we missed our connection for lack of crew - so had 2 days and nights hotel and meal vouchers in Miami before the next flight back to Buffalo 😄 As a point of reference, our TO-San Juan Bogo flight cost for late January 2024 was $916 for both tickets (booked a year ago). Pricing late this summer has came down to about $450/pp return on Westjet and Air Canada, so almost identical in price. It was nice to lock in that price a year ago since airfare is a little unstable, makes budgeting the holiday easier to just include it at booking. What I am unsure of with NCL air (or any of the cruise/air) is how easy it is to rebook if a storm system or anything threatens potential delays on our flights. I know with my direct bookings it is easy to go on AC or Westjet website and rebook our flights to a day or 2 without penalty if there are potential delays. I'm never sure how (if) this would work when booked through NCL. Hopefully we won't find out 🤔
  22. Was that day before arrival? We are those crazy "day of" flight people (living on the edge!) so not as many connection options it seems. Westjet direct flights are still showing as cheapest option available (both directions) but not sure NCL used them. AC direct flights were in line with Westjet prices up until just recently ..)-: Not sure we would do NCL BOGO again for any future cruises. This was our first NCL in many years and first booking with flight BOGO. It's different not having some control over your flight options like with other cruise/air programs. I do like the element of surprise though😄
  23. Impressed you got your assignment that far out. We are 130 days out and coming due on final payment, so I just made it hoping to get our flight early like you did. Little surprised you didn't get a direct Toronto to Tampa flight out. We are Toronto to San Juan, and really hoping for direct flights on Air Canada.🤞
  24. well that kinda stinks. although I am not that surprised but would have expected a little something (token OBC?). In reality - since you are OV GTY, you perhaps would be a candidate for a complementary upgrade when you get your room assignment. Not sure if that is a thing on Celebrity, but I know it happens on other lines. 🤞
  25. If that is the case, could the poster ask to move up to a higher grade of verandah, which is equal to the cost of the OV GTY? Just curious ...
