  1. We have been on only 4 TAs and one 15 day repositioning. Every day we heard Alpha Alpha Alpha. Had I believe at least 1 medevac, 4 return to port, sadly a few disembark earlies with the body (that was sad). It seems unfortunately to be the norm on TAs. Or at least the ones Im on. We had someone pass away day 3 of one sailing across the hall from us per our room steward who was apparently the one who came in when the wife called. The steward was really shaken up. I talked to her for a while about it just to let her unwind a bit. Really sad situation. Hope all is ok. Very scary for them.
  2. Is there anyway you can get a printout from dr office showing you have vaccines? They can go into state system and do it for you. My friend had to do this in PA for a RCCL cruise leaving out of florida and they took the state printout. I mean it happens. People have lost these cards.
  3. check and make sure the vaccine information is legible. My booster info was not getting accepted 🙄 and I looked at my card after the 5th attempt. I noted a 2 looked like a 7 (yes 17/3/21 instead of 12/3/21...) I adjusted it, resubmitted, it was accepted.
  4. i have a samsung galaxy 3 myself along with a blackberry. 😁
  5. you are completely missing the point of my response. I included sim card as an example of a gift. Also what if crew has new phones which don't take sim cards???
  6. Watch the documentary on a cable channel about the Diamond princess. Look at the crews dresser drawers. Filled with stuff. Yes this was precovid but it shows you they dont have room for things. It may make you feel better but you put them in a situation where they either can't refuse or refuse in a way that you will ***** about later. You also set a precedent where this is acceptable for everyone. A nice thank you card plus cash and a positive review helps them more. People act like these crew are chained to their beds and rooms. Many of them took these assignments post covid sailings especially now since I THINK they have 8 month contracts (could be wrong about the time). People can do as they wish but think about when everyone would get gifts for teachers. Most of them went into the trash. Now imagine cleaning lets say 30 rooms for 5 day cruises and everyone gives you googly eyes, candy, sim card... Where are they supposed to put it? When I worked in the hospital on the pediatric floor, I got to know parents. They would send us flowers about 5% of the time after the stay. 1% a card. The biggest reward we could get is positive feedback on the survey or someone praising you to the nurse manager. I'd rather have that then a candy bar.
  7. call whoever diagnosed him, explain the activities you are doing, and ask for any suggestions.
  8. It's why we always board when rooms open. Easier to get the soda on. Also nice to have a strong husband who puts the 12 pack in his backpack (big backpack)
  9. Couple of things to try as this happened to me 21 days out back in December. Uninstall/reinstall app or Make sure app is upgraded or Log in and out. It should work. Another option is to call royal and follow prompts for anything internet related. I'm not sure of the selection off the top of my head. It's what I did in December. Their rep was able to help me. My sailing was not able to be accessed via the app 21 days out.
  10. They probably won't as if you test positive onboard, I THINK they will have to arrange for you to get home. More cost efficient for them if you test to reenter off the ship. The Alaska cruisers with Vancouver as their disembarking place are discovering this now. Just hope the air travel requirements to reenter get lifted soon which is wishful thinking with less than 4 weeks to go.
  11. I could have anything I wanted but I couldn't eat anything. I remember just lying on bed with a fever and crawling to bathroom. I had a reaction to the Theraflu medication so I couldn't take it. It was the 2018 November jewel TA. Where the itinerary was changed completely. I was in quarantine 3 sea days. Fever broke on the 4th sea day. I know I lost about 7 lbs on that crossing which I think was 15 days. They kept the free room service for me the entire time. The medical team, officers, room attendents, guest services were outstanding. I gave my room attendant $300 in cash on top of his tip just because this poor man had to clean my room and it wasn't pretty. They offered to move us to a balcony from an Oceanview but I was so sick I kept saying I can't move. I was never in an emergency situation where they had to monitor me in the medical center. They actually came to the room 2x as I couldn't walk well. Just dizzy, fever, and nauseous. Edit:. Big lesson learned. Get flu shot prior to cruise! Don't stall like I stupidly did.
  12. You are lucky to have good experiences. I still think that the majority of people who just use TAs is higher for frequent cruisers than the 1-2 a year. Its funny but I had a situation a couple of weeks ago with carnival to add a cabin with family members to our booking. I went local with recommended TA and an online one. Both told me I would have to move my original cabin and cabins would have to be on the same deck. Even though one person was 28. And no OBC, perks... So I called carnival and spoke to one of their specialists. We finagled the booking to move my husband in one room, me in the other, just to get the senior and status stuff, different floors, stayed in cloud 9 area. We could have kept the 28 year old but it would have been more. Neither TA would do this for me. Even when I suggested it as an alternative. So I did try but in the end, TA and I do not work as well as others.
  13. Bill, I did explain to you. I answered a post who asked if drs actually diagnosed sinus infections. I said yes they do and this is how. So now I throw the ball in your court. What was wrong with that? Again, absolutely no mention of any forbidden topics.
  14. I think this is what I was talking about earlier. Thx!
  15. When I was quarantined in 2018 for the flu, they not only allowed my husband to stay with me, they let him out and around simply because he told them he had the flu vaccine. Times have changed. I feel for you guys as it was awful when he wasn't with me. I cant imagine how lonely you two must be. Once this is over, make plans for the 2 of you for a nice b and b somewhere for the weekend.
  16. I also do everything myself because I dont cruise as much as others on here. If I sailed as much as some people on here, yes I probably would let someone handle it. I think people who have 10 to 25 bookings a year dont understand those of us who may be only working with 2 or 3 a year. So getting upset or annoyed at the responses isnt worth it. I personally have no issue being on hold with RCCL if it can get my question answered. I just leave the speaker on and carry phone with me around doing my daily stuff. Even went bike riding one time! I think the longest hold I ever had was 2.5 hours but that was with Carnival and it was a tricky situation but was resolved correctly. TA actually screwed it up initially. On another note, I don't know if you are aware of this but your responses are difficult to read as something is off with the sentence wrapping almost as if you are cutting and pasting.
  17. wifi calling plus airplane mode plus wifi= text and phone calls.
  18. Well that's nice after 10 years but you also unfortunately are not really close to what the OP is talking about as well.
  19. Hey, good choice! I love getting ice cream at the ports. We have pins all over the Caribbean of places.
