  1. If you don’t mind my asking, what cruise visits Cabo Verde?
  2. I’ve noticed several cruises to Dubai park overnight, sometimes even for a couple nights, to give people lots of time to explore Dubai. How concurrent is the cruise port as a location in Dubai. Is it easy enough to go back and forth from the ship to the main sights?
  3. Train goes straight from the airport to cruise port and is quick and easy. But it all depends upon how late you are allowed to board.
  4. Oh man. I thought this thread was going to be about some super secret “escape elevator” you Haven people have.
  5. I love necrothreads. As for the OP, I’ve seen this and all rots of crazy things. But in my case, yeah I was drunk.
  6. Just a thought: it is often easier to get legally married at the local courthouse before the trip, and then have a ceremony led by an officer on the ship.
  7. Because people online cannot see misery without trying to top it… you call that a problem??? You are indoors. With seats! Have you seen what’s been going on with Epic boarding out of San Juan 🙂
  8. Wake up the morning of your port day. Look outside. Do you see the DR? If not, your port has been cancelled. Other than that, I don’t think I’d trust NCL. Note that if your excursion is booked via NCL, no need to worry about canceling. That will be done automatically.
  9. I’m not sure there’s enough money in the world to cover that bill.
  10. Does she have time to fix this? It’s a “flash sale.” Who knows if FAS will still be included 🙂
  11. I booked on board and this freaked me out as I had a balance $200 higher than expected. Which did get credited back $50 after each excursion. Anyone know what happens if I skip the excursion; do I not get the $50?
  12. And this is one reason tipping needs to die. Charge me a daily service fee. Slap a huge gratuity onto my drink package. And boom, no need to worry about carrying a stack of bills.
  13. I've heard many people say St. John's and I've seen many write St. John's instead of the correct Saint John, so it appears to be a rather common error, I blame Canada.
  14. Some places I tend to meet people: 1. Shore excursions, especially those involving an activity and not just riding a bus all day 2. Classes or demos on the ship 3. Sitting at the bar in a bar in ship 4. Shared table in the MDR
  15. Assuming you are US citizens, you’ve got tons of choices. Most cruises that start in a US port and end back in that port qualify. There are a small number of exotic stops that can mess things up, and a few speciality cruising lines that require passports because reasons, but the average cruiser is unlikely to hit those exceptions.
  16. In terms of modern ships, the only lines I know that have them are Carnival and some of her sister lines (ie those owned by Carnival Corp.) Specifically some of Carnival Corp’s European lines that share ship designs with Carnival Cruise Line - AIDA, Costa and P&O (I think, don’t hold me to this.)
  17. I’ve never tipped a cent to the Haven staff, and probably never will. They don’t let riff raff like me in the place.
  18. You want people to look at you funny, try to spend an old style 20. They look so fake nowadays. While I’ve never specifically asked this question, I suspect cabin attendants would be more than happy if you offered one up as a tip for ice. For the record, I’ve never tipped $20 for ice, but if I wanted t, I wouldn’t hesitate to use funny looking bills.
  19. European cruise lines do this frequently. MSC and Costa have ships that spend months circling the Med with four (or even more) embarkment/disembarkment ports. There’s no concept on the ship of “a cruise” starting or stopping. Some people don’t like it, but I find it so nice not having to deal with everybody trying to board or leave all at once.
  20. They have a ton of money from their cargo business. Better yet, they are privately owned so don’t have to worry about short term profits to make shareholders happy. Their prices are low because they can sacrifice profits to grow the American market. Their basic product doesn’t feel any cheaper than Carnival/Royal/etc
  21. Baby club? Is that kinda like a seal club? If so, I’m 100% against.
  22. Just some random data points, but on my last cruise we made 4/6 scheduled disembarkment times, were 15-20 minutes late on one, and a bit over an hour late on one.
