  1. I'll choose to take that as a genuine concern for us No, that's not my concern though. On a previous cruise, the buffet was only open for specific set hours for meals. My wife and I tend to eat at odd hours and so often couldn't get anything as the buffet was closed when we were hungry. So, when cruising on a new line, I like to see how they operate, so we can be prepared. Thanks Mark_T for the info!
  2. I searched but can't seem to find a simple answer to this. Is the buffet open 24 hours on Celeb? I know they probably close for a period to transition between meals but otherwise? Thanks in advance
  3. Yes, though the 'dress in layers' is proving a challenge when we want to each just take a carry on! Still, we think we have a plan to make it work. Alaska looks gorgeous and we made sure to book through the ship for our excursions. Two main ones, a Whale Watching out of the Icy Strait and a date with some sled dogs in Juneau 🙂
  4. I commented on this in another thread, and agree. Counting down to a cruise should be a joy, not a sense of concern about what's to come. Had issues getting my passport renewed but that's done now. But still have to: 1-Test negative for Covid. 2-Have my flight take off. Still, doing all we can. Leaving first thing in the morning the day before. Carry on luggage only. And essentially are in isolation this week before we go, not going out except to get the test on Friday. Then have to come home healthy! I'm confident it will all work out. But in the 70 odd trips I've done in the last 14 years, professional and personal, I've never felt so much anxiety about it all. Really puts the damper on the joy sometimes. But I'm choosing to believe it will be amazing and all work out!
  5. Until my wife and I board the Eclipse out of Vancouver for an Alaskan cruise. Since we cancelled our scheduled cruise in May of 2020 when this all first blew up, we've made and cancelled plans for 6 other trips. Finally, Air Canada willing, we are going on a real vacation for the first time in three years! Cannot wait. Heard a lot about Celebrity and looking forward to seeing how it rates as our first trip with them.
  6. I'm fine with being quarantined, though would prefer not to move cabins. But if they insist, fine. But if they try to separate my wife and I, that will not go well. We've barely spent a night apart in 14 years and don't intend to start anytime soon.
  7. Perfect, thanks all. We're travelling with carry-ons only and wanted to be able to drop them off. This time next Sunday we'll be getting ready for the sail away party hopefully!!!!
  8. First time cruising with Celeb coming up and curious when your room is normally ready. Can you go drop your stuff off after boarding?
  9. Thanks all for your advice. Appreciate it!
  10. Looks like it would be free, some sort of promotion.
  11. Hi all, looking for some help Have a cruise booked to Alaska on the Eclipse and we are in sunset verandah suite. Just been offered a chance to upgrade to the Aqua class. Outside of access to Blu and some spa stuff, is it worth it? Seeing lots of sales stuff but not really sure what the key differences are and if it's better. Any opinions would be appreciated Thanks in advance
  12. I don't disagree and my wife and I are rule followers. I just question the mentality of 'if you don't dress in a tux, you're a slob.' And yes I know not everyone says that exactly. Times change and sometimes I agree things are too casual but it's not a bad thing to go a bit lighter. Still, we are packing for the rules. Though given we are trying to get all our clothes for this cruise into carry-on's only, the less clothes we need the better lol
  13. "Never knew Greenland had palm trees and beaches." Course it does, why else would it be called Greenland? 🙂
  14. I'm more of the opinion "Don't worry about what others are wearing. Be yourself and be comfortable." Yes, weddings, funerals, major events, dress appropriately. A 7 hour flight in economy seats? Dinner on vacation? I'd like to be comfortable. I don't see how someone wearing shorts and a shirt ruins anything for anyone unless they let it.
  15. I want to book Hawaii for Dec 2023, wonder when those will post?
  16. It could, on the PC at least, be a browser issue. I've had issues with both Firefox and Edge, only able to get Chrome to load their site correctly.
  17. Yeah, it's sad. My wife and I love to travel, and we always have a countdown app on our phones for our next trip. This time though, as it counted down, we were getting more anxious, not excited. Now that the passport is in hand, it's a major relief. Barring testing positive for Covid, we are doing what we can to mitigate what we can control. Heading out the day before we normally would in case of flight issues. Carry on luggage only. Still more stressful then it should be for our first vacation in three years but we're excited nonetheless.
  18. Canada has a bit of a disaster right now in regards to passport renewals/requests, though some recent changes by the government are helping streamline it. But if you google it, you can find lots of articles outlining the depth of the mess. People lined up for days, queues around the block, passport Canada phone lines overwhelmed and ringing busy so you can't get updates, etc. But after a ton of bad press and real problems (people missing funerals, etc) they started to take it seriously. I didn't have to go to the queues thankfully but a friend who did reported they were quickly sorted into smaller and smaller lines based on priority, and people more then 30 days out were just told to leave. She got hers, and I got mine. So all worked out.
  19. That or after so many negative responses sent my way, it was that or scream 🙂
  20. Good to know, thanks. Been looking into the clothing situation, especially since, given Air Canada's issues, we are shooting for carry-on only. Layering seems the best bet!
  21. For any still curious, I got my new passport today. Alaska, here I come... assuming my flight with Air Canada isn't a disaster 🙂
  22. Interesting, I hadn't considered that. My wife and I plan later in life to do some world cruise legs and I have a note to ensure we examine carefully any Visa requirements that may be needed. Am curious, if they just didn't disembark in Victoria, would they still need a Visa? I'm guessing so, since we can't just do honor system they wouldn't get off and can't put the onus on the cruise line to check as they leave to ensure they are allowed to.
  23. Not really keeping secrets, unless you count why I had to apply early, which doesn't seem like anyone else's business. If you all are insistent, let me know how it's relevant and I'll consider it. But unclear why it matters. Just missed the question, lots of posts 🙂 I purchased after the cut, though just, on April 2nd.
  24. Yeah, cancel for any reason is very hard to find for an affordable rate from my searching. I did find some that cover if your 'travel visa is not ready through no fault of your own.' However, contract law 101 give that a lot of wiggle room. A visa is not a passport. Same theory in most regards but they could argue it says visa, not passport, so no dice.
  25. Well, if you believe half the responses to this thread, everyone should have 🙂 If it comes that, I do intend to try and challenge it. OR get Covid, since I know that's covered!
