  1. Assuming you made a typo and you are going in 2024. It could be a question of NCL has not signed contracts yet. I would call the excursion desk and ask them what is going on
  2. Our Butler did the same thing, on our first day. He was asking what we like to drink and what drink package we had. I said I like diet coke, 5 minutes later he brought me 6 cans, I said I really don' want to pay extra for soda in a can, I'll just get it at the bar.... he said its on the house
  3. Multiple systems was a bad term to use, interesting about loosing a generator, I would have thought and though wrong each gen say their are 4 of them each power 25% of the ship so the would never be overloaded.
  4. Hard to believe the entire ship lost power since they have multiple system, maybe lights / cabin power to your section
  5. This is a copy and paste from what I said in 2022 I've brought mine on three cruises, Bermuda and Eastern and Western Caribbean. Packed it in my checked luggage and then took it on and off the ship in a small backpack. Only in Bermuda was I asked to leave it with security. They gave me a card and to get it when I wanted to take it off the ship. It was actually kind of funny, a bunch of the officers were really interested in it and I ended up doing a 30 minute demo for them. They gave me permission to fly over the shipped while it was docked, NLC asked if the could use some of my footage. IDK if they ever did We are going on the Gem again to Bermuda June 2024. And yes I will be bring my drone. Packed the same way with other camera gear in checked luggage
  6. Personally if you are going to go to NYC you should really stay in the city. If this is not your first time NJ is OK. My wife and I go to NYC a few times a year, we live two hours away and aways stay in the city At the end of the day you need to do what is comfortable for the two of you
  7. I would still stay in NYC, not all of Manhattan will be crazy
  8. Thats not as bad as the smell of urine in the streets LOL
  9. Do some reading up, I forget for how many blocks around Times Square they do it for but you are basically locked in. I would make sure your hotel is OUT of that area
  10. Have you been in NYC for New Years Eve? It can be a real cluster to say the least Lol
  11. MSC is a tiny bit cheaper..... YC standard balcony is $7018 for 9 days, Haven Courtyard on the GA is $7873 (10 day cruise)... Both prices are from MSC and NCL websites, cruises are 5 days apart MSC is literally $9 a day cheaper if you price it out by the the day... and they might end up being more since I did not get total with taxes
  12. 👍 MSC has a 9 day leaving NYC (Brooklyn) January 6th
  13. If you want a smaller ship the GEM is doing a 9 day out of Miami leaving January 2nd. The Gem is actually my favorite ship
  14. My wife and I love the Vibe, if we are not in the Haven we will get passes. We both like to to sit outside and the Vibe is usually pretty quiet. Service has always been excellent. If we were only spending an hour or two there on sea days we would not bother, but since we are there for 5-6 hours its well worth it for us .
  15. NCL is in Midtown.... lots of hotel in the area. Cunard goes out of the Brooklyn terminal. For what you are going to pay for Cunard you can probably get a Haven Cabin
  16. Our 12 day on the GA left January 8th 2023. Frankly I was surprised at the amount of kids, teens on the ship. In the Haven their were at least two dozen. Talking to one of their parents they just bring work along. Personally we would have never done that
  17. My wife and I sailed the GA in January 2023 on a 12 day out of NYC in the Haven. We went with friends who were Non Haven. We had dinner in the main dining room the first night. The service was terrible, specialty restaurants were fine. Honestly didn't really notice if it was overcrowded or not, sea days we spent between the Haven Courtyard, Sundeck and the Spa. If you can swing it, book a Haven Cabin.....At least get a Spa Pass
  18. You are going to have to explain it to me, what's to love about it? You walk to the specialty restaurant, sit down and eat. We have never waited more than 30 seconds to check in and go to a table
  19. Been on the Escape twice, once in the Haven. My wife and both love the Escape
  20. You are not missing anything, I think of the concierge as customer service. On our last cruise we did not use the concierge for anything, with the exception of getting on and off the ship using the Haven elevators. Its definitely the fastest way off the ship
  21. Hope you had your bed seatbelt on Stuff happens, on our first cruise on the Gem to Bermuda we had very large seas for 24 hours on the way back to NYC. I'll never forget having to pin myself against the shower wall to take a shower. Everything on the ship was closed for that period and people were told to stay in their cabins
  22. The local government does everything possible to keep this ports as safe as the can. Towns like Costa Maya tourist are their entire revenue
  23. Another vote for Maya Chan, we have been there three times. Its a 20 minute at the time very bumpy ride from the cruise port. Excellent price and food. They could charge twice the price and it would still be worth it.
