New rule that if you miss the boarding of the ship at the original boarding port, you cannot proceed to the next port and board the ship.  Also remember you have to be checked in one hour before the ship leaves the port.  Those who plan to arrive the day of the boarding are playing with fire IMO.

Where did you see this new rule???  I would like to read the specifics

We saw a price drop (about $230) on our cruise in May but the final payment is already paid. Besides upgrading to a cabin in a different category, does Princess offer any other options such as onboard credit, free gratuities, bottle of wine, etc? The cruise is more than 30 days away....would it be able to get the price reduction?

    Which cruise and ship ??

We purchased flights on our own, didn't file claim with Aon. We did have insurance with the airline so filed a claim with them.  Airline insurance said they are still processing the claim.

Our experience with a cancelled flight after a cruise. We had Platinum princess insurance.  Our flight from FLL to CLT got delayed by 5 + hours and the airline could not tell us if it would go or not.  So we rented a car drove to Savannah , rented a hotel room. Went to dinner and drinks.  Then drove home to CLT the next day.  I saved all the receipts,  got a statement from the airline about the delay/cancelation and submitted them all.  After 3 weeks or so, the insurance paid it all PLUS got a refund from the airline.   I WILL always get Princess insurance

Funny thing is we paid for the cruise as well as the flights over 2 months ago. We were under the understanding the flights would be paid for by Princess about 45 days prior to the cruise. Obviously, that didn't happen or maybe it did? We won't know until our TA is "allowed" to ask about them no more than 30 days out. But I also have to say this is the first time we've ever had our flights disappear from an airline's website when we've booked them using a cruise line's air booking service.

If you have control on Princess Cruise Personalizer..you should be able.to.click a button to have them ticketed...they do not pay for.them until 45 days or less.  I WOULD not wait to get flight issues resolved

Yes but this is Princess we are talking about?

Under  the sections you have quoted and spotted  there is a  FAQ  about what PROOF you need

    https://www.princess.com/plan/cruise-with-confidence/cruise-health/frequently-asked-questions/uk-southampton-cruises/?accordion=covid-test-prior-to-boarding

The negative COVID-19 test result must include:

    • Where the test was administered, including information such as the name and contact information for the laboratory or healthcare personnel who performed the test
    • Type of test (indicating it is a NAAT or antigen test)
    • A specimen collection date 2 days or less before cruise departure
    • Guest’s name and either date of birth, age, or passport number
    • A negative test result using words or phrases including:
      • Negative
      • Undetectable
      • SARS-CoV-2 RNA not detected
      • SARS-CoV-2 antigen not detected
      • COVID-19 not detected
      • Not reactive

Test results marked “invalid” are not accepted.

I am not sailing until 30 April so there is a chance I will get an answer to

Well is it 2 days or 3 days    that I have sent to various  sections of Princess UK

I think I am going to order the at home monitored test Princess recommends on the site and have it shipped to our hotel and do the test the night before .  Hopefully that will meet ALL requirements

I don’t read it that way. The antigen test has to be taken within 2 days of embarkation.  A PCR can be up to 3 days. So unless they go for a PCR test then Thursday will be outside of the 2 day window.

But if you are Vaxed and boosted....you have 3 days

I am just trying to get my math right - if we sail on a Sunday we can get tested on Thursday and be in the 3 day window?

This example was on the Princess site

an example, for a fully vaccinated guest sailing on Sunday, the 2-day antigen test may be taken on Friday or Saturday, and as late as Sunday, if you are guaranteed to receive your results in time for check-in.

so I would.say you can test on Thursday for a Sunday sailing...if you have 3 days

I just copied this off the Princess website.

It includes a link to their testing partners Prenetics.

"We recommend all guests take their viral COVID-19 test (PCR or antigen) prior to leaving home to avoid queues and travel disruptions associated with a possible positive result on the day of embarkation. For U.K.-based guests, Princess recommends an option for an FDA-authorized, medically supervised at-home antigen test kit through our testing partner Prenetics™ (£30). Order your Lateral Flow Antigen test kit online^."

Yes BUT those can only be ordered in the UK

  9. As stated we are com I need from the US.  We leave on 5/31 arrive in UK Heathrow on 6/1.  Then have a car service to t

Southampton and overnight at the Moxy.  So I am still thinking Emed monitored is the best..we can take the test morning of 5/31 and no for sure before we board a plane.  Going to bring test with us foe return to US as we are staying in the UK for another week after..  I looked at the link on the site to order tests BUT that company only ships to the UK.

  10. Now that the rules are out on the Princess site.  We have a cruise leaving southhampton on 6/2.  We need a test 3 days prior to boarding now.  Any idea what the test would cost at the terminal?

I was thinking of ordering abott test..9 total as I need 2 to get on the cruise and 2 to get home to the US (staying in the UK for another week after the cruise).  Plus a back up..SO 8 total.  Optum store has a 3 pack monitored test...or 2 packs for a total of 210 bucks...not sure what is the best approach....what is everyone else doing foe these sailings??

How do you do this ?? What is the website.  I would gladly buy some gift cards with 15% off

There is a very small "Liberation store" close to the tender pier, however looking at their website, I cannot see that Blue Bottle Gin is advertised.  There are some other local gins advertised.  Blue Bottle Gin is made by Randalls which is a competitor of "Liberation" hence I do not expect it to be sold in this establishment.  Next time I am passing the store, I will pop in and double check for you.  Otherwise there are no liquor stores in the main town, hence you would need to stop off on route during an island tour.  Perhaps another suggestion would be to email the producers of Blue Bottle Gin asking them to confirm which stores in addition to their own, stock this gin, and which is the nearest to the tender pier.

Happy to help as a local with any other questions about Guernsey.

Guernseycruiser:  We arrive on the island Friday June 3rd.  Which is the start of a bank holiday weekend due to the queen's jubilee.  Are there any special celebrations planned on the island and do you think the shops/restaurants/pubs will be open ?  I might want to pick up a souvenir of the jubilee.  Thanks again

  13. Thank you for all the responses.  We will now take the DART into Dublin.  We try to use public Transporation whenever possible.

In addition, we are going to Guernsey on this voyage, when last there I bought a bottle of Blue Bottle Gin in the downtown area.  I attempted to look up the liquor store where I purchased it but it appears to be out of business.  Any ideas where I can purchase another bottle.  I am a Gin drinker, and it was wonderful and of course I cannot get it here in the US.

  14. We are sailing on the Emerald Princess in June and have some questions on ports:

    1.  Dublin - We actually dock at Dun Laoghaire and the Dublin on your own is alittle expensive - What is the best way to get into Dublin - There will be 4 of us.

    2. Liverpool - Can I just walk into town from the dock ?

    3. Greenock ( Glasglow ) - this is also a little expensive to get into town - Suggestion on what to do in Greenock ? or area ?

    Thanks

Indoors, most everybody had a mask on 100% of the time.  I'd say compliance was higher than HAL.  You won't ever see the staff without a mask on.  On the promenade deck and outdoor decks, people were much more lax.

Also, Princess is doing rapid antigen tests on all cruises 7 days or longer (IIRC).  On the inaugural cruise from LA to FL, they did two rapid tests.  If you test positive on those, they do a confirmatory PCR test.  If you are also positive there, I guess they isolate you?  I honestly don't know.

I think you are mistaken about testing for cruises 7 days or longer:   Princesses web site says the following:

For select cruises, including Panama Canal Full Transits and voyages 15 days and longer, guests will likely have a COVID-19 test administered 3-5 days into their voyages. For voyages 15 days and longer specifically, guests will be tested every 7 days thereafter. The tests will be scheduled and administered by the onboard medical team and will be provided on a complimentary basis.

We are onboard and the crew is wonderful.  They are having to take a lot of flak about the app but are handling it well.  We were unable to fully check-in until 4pm on Friday after getting a number of emails and phone messages that we were going to be denied boarding.  This appears to have been a common problem.

Boarding started off rough as they could not get the computer system working until 10:40am.  The process went smooth after that until boarding the ship and then the ship's computer system went down for about 15 minutes.  The staff handed these issues very well and can process passengers very quickly when the system is working.

Dinning has been another area of frustration.  A number of people did have there reservations disappear.  We showed up the first night and when they took us to the table there were two seats but the other four were just about finished eating. Then sent us to another dinning room and had to wait in line for 30 minutes.  Talked to the restaurant manager the next day and he is having to take care of these  issues outside of the app and has been been very accommodating.

It is great to be back on and hopefully management can resolve these app issues.  I know the ships' staff will be much happier when they are resolved.

On a different note, the Lotus pool was closed today and was just notified that it will be closed until further notice due to a maintenance issue.

That is the pool by the scantuary correct ??

  17. We are Elite on Princess but looking to do a P&O next year in June to Spain.  It would be on the Britannia.  A few questions about P&O and comparisons to Princess. We are in the US and will fly to London to pick up the ship at Southampton.

Does P&O recognize our Princess Status ?   What are the major differences between the two lines ?  Any suggestions on booking a balcony cabin on the Britannia ?  Are some decks better than others.

Princess now offers a fare with drinks, tips and wifi, does P&O have a similar package ?

Any information on P&O would be appreciated, maybe Do's and Don'ts ?

    Thanks
