  1. Two excursions in one day seems rather taxing. Does everyone have enough energy to tackle (and fully enjoy) such a schedule?
  2. Because they figure they had better get us reserved now while we are still able to cruise.
  3. Amen. The only cold things you should experience when you are in Hawaii are the ice cubes in your drink. There are many places to stargaze here that are at sea level - and a lot closer to your ship.
  4. Aloha - Do know that St. Anthony Catholic Church in Wailuku (about ten minutes away from Kahului Harbor where the ship docks) will be having a 9:30 a.m. Mass on Easter Sunday. Kaahumanu Church in Wailuku has a 9 a.m. Mass that day, and is about the same distance away from the harbor. It is a rather old church, and they do Mass in Hawaiian and English - though we don't think they are Catholic. Just two options that may work for you and be a special experience.
  5. For whatever it is worth, here is another list. Can't say we would rate them as they have, but to each his or her own: "Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa was named the Best Hotel in Hawaiʻi by USA TODAY in the publications 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards. The resort was selected for its “plush ocean view rooms, lagoon-style pool” and location at Kāʻanapali Beach. Maui properties dominated the list with half of the spots. Others making the 10 Best list included: Westin Maui Resort & Spa at No. 2; the Kāʻanapali Beach Hotel at No. 3; The Ritz-Carlton Maui at Kapalua at No. 5; and the Four Seasons Resort in Lānaʻi City at No. 9. Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa was also recently selected as a winner of Good Housekeeping’s 2023 Best Family Travel Award".
  6. Try any ABC Store in the area (they are everywhere. We believe there is even one in the hotel).
  7. We see that Dr. Beach has Coronado Beach in the #7 spot on his list and TA has it in the #8 spot, which sounds like they do think alike at times and perhaps aren't that absurd.
  8. As we remember it, we wouldn't call the Coffee Connection on the Navigator a "coffee shop". It was just a room with chairs, tables/desks and some computers for guests to use. There was a small room off of that area that held the snacks and beverages. Very casual and do it yourself sort of thing as a rule. Please correct us if we are wrong.
  9. The private dining room (named "The Study") on the Explorer and Splendor is for the use of Regent Suite guests only.
  10. We would be very surprised if they were closed. Do read their website though and give them a call or email them and ask any other questions you might have about their place. As said, they are very popular.
  11. Check out the website for Duke's on Kauai. Touristy and popular, of course, and as memory serves they will also give you a free slice of Hula Pie if it is your birthday.
  12. Unless, as mentioned above, you are on the Pride of America.
  13. This new survey is from Trip Advisor: Top 10 Beaches in the US for 2023 Kāʻanapali Beach – Maui, Hawaiʻi Siesta Beach – Siesta Key, Florida Driftwood Beach – Jekyll Island, Georgia Hanalei Beach – Kauaʻi, Hawaiʻi Hoʻokipa Beach Park – Maui, Hawaiʻi Henderson Beach State Park – Destin, Florida Cannon Beach – Cannon Beach, Oregon Coronado Beach – Coronado, California Ogunquit Beach – Ogunquit, Maine La Jolla Cove – La Jolla, California
  14. We don't take advantage of any of their excursions. We go because we enjoy their ships.
  15. With all due respect, we somehow thought everyone knew about Don Blanding; Missionary dresses; Mu'umu'us; Aloha shirts and Aloha Fridays, etc.
  16. With all due respect, we ran into a heavy mosquito population in Papeete in what would be considered coastal and tourist areas. Thankfully, the repellents we used worked.
  17. We took a look at what is offered with tours up here, and we certainly agree with BermudaBound2014 that it is best to do it yourself. We just went to Ulupalakua earlier this month and had lunch at the Ranch Store. They have lamb, elk, beef and venison burgers. Not the tastiest things in the world, but fun to try. The views on the way up and back are spectacular if the skies are clear, and there is good road at least as far as Ulupalakua. The winery across the road is usually popular. We could go on, but everyone should do a little research and see what, if anything, appeals to them. Guided tours of the area are several hundred dollars per person. Save your money. Design your own tour and rent a car. If you have questions or want helpful hints, ask the contributors on CC who have been there/done that. It does make for a nice day...
  18. If you value an area of peace and quiet without many visitors, you may like it up here. It is one of those places you can't really describe. If you have some time while you are here, come take a look at a side of Hawaii life most visitors never take time to see.
  19. We are personally not big on either venue and won't comment about that, but must comment that if the dock for the submarine is in Lahaina Harbor next to the banyan tree, avoid the area under the tree and the public bathrooms. Unless thinngs have changed recently, it is home to a certain transient population you would do best to avoid.
  20. The idea is being used in Maui, Hawaii with cats. Check out "Cat Cafe Maui".
  21. Do know that it's not just the excursions that are expensive. Hawaii itself is exorbitantly expensive.
  22. Do note that all of their buggies except "Honu" are stick shift. How would his knees do with all the shifting required?
  23. We use them for wines and our favorite champagne.
  24. Along the same line would be booking two connecting cabins. In either case though, wouldn't going to two cabins mean paying two single supplements?
