  1. Given the slow way things are going with Covid, that was meant as an attempt at humor, Dan.
  2. We are familiar with the area, and it is private property. You took a chance at getting your car towed away, and we wouldn't advise people to park there.
  3. What "cause"? We just noted how a change in lifestyle worked for us. Heck, everyone has had some change in lifestyle since Covid.
  4. Don't make that sound so bad. When tourists disappeared from Hawaii after Covid hit, we looked around and found a quieter, obviously less crowded and more peaceful place - and we liked it. We decided to spend more time privately at home rather than out and about - and we liked it. Our stress levels have certainly gone down. If that makes us reclusive hermits, so be it.
  5. Several manufacturers make seasick relief products, but they leave us drowsy. The following is a product they do have that works for us and is pure ginger. No drugs. Everyone is different though, so be sure to ask your doctor and/or pharmacist about it and see what they say: "Dramamine Non-Drowsy Natural Ginger motion sickness relief, 18 capsules per pack. Contains clinically tested ginger dosage required for preventing and treating motion sickness. Will prevent and treat the symptoms of motion sickness without drowsiness. It is safe for use everyday you travel since it's made with natural ginger. Other sources of ginger, including candies, gums, or ginger ale, may not contain a full clinical dose."
  6. Oceania is considered an upper premium cruise line, not a luxury line.
  7. Consider that sailing day is a busy time for everyone. If possible, wouldn't it be more relaxing to wait until later in the cruise to do the Chef's Table when everything is more relaxed? It will also give you something extra to look forward to and anticipate..
  8. We just have to mention that we have been in that parking lot numerous times and, unless things have changed recently, there are signs posted throughout the lot saying no overnight parking is allowed. How often Mall security decides to enforce that and have cars towed, we don't know. We only want people to be aware that there is a risk.
  9. Perhaps you don't mean it that way, but you make travel with a disabled person sound like a burden when it can be very rewarding. It's a two-way street here. It's not easy for the disabled person either. Our physically challenged daughter has gone everywhere from the Yukon to the Amazon with us because we wanted the same goal - a great vacation - and were willing to help each other by working together to reach that goal.
  10. Locals seem to favor Wailuku and Kahului. Non-tourist haoles seem to like Upcountry.
  11. If you are thinking about visiting Mama's for lunch or dinner, be sure and get reservations well in advance and bring your major plastic, as Mama's is costly for what it is.
  12. By "the middle of the night" we meant around 3 a.m. - not 10 p.m. Yes, we are well familiar with Mama's Fish House. Who isn't? We aren't big on tourist places however, so we rarely get out there. Floyd and Doris established quite a fan club with the place though. By "We walked back to the ship..." we trust you mean from where you parked and not Mama's, as the restaurant is almost nine miles from the dock.
  13. To those who will be leaving the POA in the middle of the night to drive to Haleakala for sunrise, do know after dark the areas around the ship become home for transients and people you really don't want to run into on a dark street. Walking to wherever you parked your car is simply not safe.
  14. Curious just where the laundry is going to air dry your items?
  15. If you have never done the Road to Hana before, make sure whoever drives wants to commit to a three hour drive each way even if you just go straight there and back. Add slow traffic, hairpin turns, narrow road, other sightseers and their cars,. your own stops, etc. and you can spend eight to ten hours on the road. Some people love it. Others not so much. It will eat up your whole day. Just FYI - no sour grapes intended.
  16. Not sure about their current policy, but if they aren't you can always buy them at every ABC Store and souvenir shop in the islands.
  17. Here is the latest information we could find on the subject: "Norwegian Cruise Line announced an increase of the daily services charges of crew gratuities. In a letter sent to guests and travel agents the company said that starting April 1, 2022, will be making a nominal adjustment to the daily service charges. The new daily service charges per person will be $20.00 – for guests in The Haven & Suite, $18.00 for Club Balcony Suite, and $16.00 for Balcony and below." Your TA should be on top of this - or at least you be on top of her to handle this.
  18. ...Until your back gives out. Shipping luggage is a lot cheaper than doctor bills.
