  1. As an alternative to this, we have retutned to the room and found the steward's card in the slot. Difficult to accept, but they too are human.
  2. Have a great cruise everyone and keep the ship neat and tidy! Looking forward to seeing some of you when you reach European soil in Cobh and joining the ship two days later in Rotterdam! Safe travels!
  3. Smaller ships dock in Dublin. Azamara Onward (1st July '24) and Azamara Quest (25th July '24) are both listed as docking in Dublin Port. Here is a link to the docking schedule for Dublin Port and for Dun Laoghaire. A few ships do actually dock in Dun Laoghaire, but very few!
  4. That is the way that mine work. I just feel (foolish I know) that someone will lock me up for talking to myself! 😉
  5. @FredZiffle What is the itinerary? Is that the 28 day Adriatic Dream and Passage to America? If so, it is a different ball game. You only have a couple of sea days in the first 3 weeks! Some very interesting ports, so you hardly will have time to sleep never mind be entertained. The TA section is different and I suggest you look at some of the 'live from' threads from last October/November for an indication of entertainment etc. If it is a different itinerary, then I apologise for my ramblings!
  6. Doh! I didn't think of that! 🙄 Actually, I thought that the mic on the phone was disabled when using BT. I will need to experiment! Thanks!
  7. HAL do not run a transportation service. The bus is just at the pier and there are a few taxis available. Tendering can be slow, depending on tidal conditions.
  8. As I am just newly admitted to this audio assistance world, how do you deal with actually speaking on the 'phone'. I am very consious of appearing to speak to no one when having a conversation on the BT hearing aids. I tried talking with my hand over my mouth, but that just muffles the sound to the aids. How do you manage? (apologies for thread drift)
  9. Not NCL's fault, but required by the Dublin Port Authority. Very few cruise ships now dock in Dublin Port but tender at Dun Laoghaire. Believe it or not, caused by Brexit and the DPA requiring more space for import/export procedures.
  10. Welcome to CC. The important word in your question is 'docks'. Certainly, as CruiserBruce states, in most cases you should be on dry land by 7.30, but if it happens to be a 'tender port' then it will take a lot longer. Check your itinerary just to be certain that you do 'dock' at all ports.
  11. Eggscellent reporting so far. Do remember that repetition is an important element of research! Enjoy Rotterdam and Southern Caribbean.
  12. And that is the reason that there is the daily hotel charge/crew gratuities/ or whatever they have named it this week. Correct?
  13. Of course they will. But the fare will be on the meter unless you arrange a fixed price for day/half day/ 3 hours etc before you start. Also, the driver is a taxi driver and not a tour guide so you will probably not receive any information on the trip. Driver may or may not speak english. I would think that taxis will be available at the port but will know for certain when we dock there next month.
  14. Not all enjoyed it more. We found it grating and irritating. More of a mismatch than anything else.
  15. I am not seeing that anywhere on the website. Can you post a link?
  16. Not possible. When you select Main Dining Room on the app you are seeing today's menu on the ship. It may not be the same menu on the same day for your sailing unless the ship is doing a similar itinerary.
  17. Pre booked taxi is about €125 from Amsterdam Schiphol airport to Rotterdam
  18. Today on Nieuw Statendam is Jamaican Bread Pudding with warm vanilla rum sauce.....I'm wondering do they make it with blueberry croissants? 🙄
  19. At any bar. Yes, you can get cans of soda too. With two key cards (with HIA) I have usually been given 4 cans at a time.
  20. My post was not about the bad math, but more about the expectation of refund. There are a couple of other elements to consider, such as if you use a 'refund agency' then there will be an fee for the service. Perhaps the most important thing to remember is that it is an EU vat refund system and not an European system, therefore the UK does not participate. I mention this as many cruisers will travel home with flights via UK (or cruise ending in UK port). There will be no factilities for the vat refund at UK airports as it must be done at the final departure point in EU.
  21. What I would give for a 'school dinner' Jam Roly Poly (with custard) 😋
  22. That is American tax maths but not European tax maths as the selling price in Europe includes taxes. So not €200 refund but €166.67 (at 20% vat rate). (I recognise you used dollar sign and mentioned "worth" but having tax inclusive prices does make the calculations slightly different).
