  1. I truely sympathize with Chrism, however SS isn't alone with the wacko flight routing...

We had another line try to route us from Newark to Istanbul and then on to Copenhagen as our boarding port.....go figure.

I can only guess that they are trying to save money in using some of their preferred carriers. How? I'm not so sure on that, but figure Istanbul to Copenhagen has to be at least 1000 miles.

Our flight was eventually fixed, but SS isn't alone. Our most recent SS cruise had us going from Newark to Stockholm and then back to Iceland....go figure.

  2. We will be on the Whisper very shortly and I'm wondering about early morning (6-6:30ish) coffee.....

I don't think, nor do I want room service for this. It probably doesn't even start that early.

I'm hoping somewhere on the ship, they may put out an urn and I can just help myself...

    Is this possible?

  3. I'm back with another question.....

We have a considerable amount of OBC. Does Silversea host special wine dinners? upscale wine tastings? champagne tastings? Any special food/wine events that might be fun to splurge on?

I know there's always the premium wine list, the spa and the boutiques, but I've never heard anything about any wine/food events.......are there any?

  4. Thank for your responses.....this isn't a big deal...haha! We'll probably just use the other bars.

I think it's a shame that they don't use the Ob bar, as just that. We love a forward facing lounge as most

ships have that, however this is truly a first world problem....giggle!

  5. OMG....this is NOT making me happy!

Part of our problem is that we fly out of Newark and we end our cruise at the Manhattan cruise pier.

We can't really leave our car in Newark as we'd need to pay for transport from NYC to Newark....

May have to check other options......

  6. Oh brother.....not hearing anything very positive here....

My biggest concern will be getting from our house to the airport. We'll keep our car at the ready.

Coming home will be from the NYC cruise port to our house. Not as worried about that one, as we could always take the bus home from the Port Authority and the cruise will be over.

Geez, and we thought this was going to be a good thing........sigh.

  7. Has anyone had any experience with this company? We have transport included with our SS package. I've made the reservation for pick at our home and then

transport home from NYC, but since we live in the country and I've never heard of them, I'm a little concerned that they'll actually come! Our reservation has been confirmed by Blacklane, but we'll keep the car gased up just in case.

Would love to know if anyone has used this service. Thanks!

  8. Reporting in from the Splendor!

I'm so very sorry to hear that you and Jack have been confined to quarters, so to speak! I enjoyed your comparison of the the two lines and has helped us to make a decision. Probably no Seabourn for us in the future, although we never say never!

We will be home soon and I promise a lengthy email. Stay positive and hopefully, healthy!

  9. It could very well be changed since we were there. We'd been in there 3X's in the past. We tried the PG as an alternative and liked it very much. It just seemed more genuine and welcoming, but as I said, the QG may have changed, or maybe it's just not our cup of tea!

    Mudhen,

Thank you for your advice. I must admit to being very nervous about getting into Heathrow (an obvious nightmare from what I’ve seen) and getting out of Copenhagen.  If time wasn’t so short at this point, I’d postpone the trip until the airline situation improves but for now I’m just going to hope for the best.

The good news is that it seems that SAS has sorted out most of it's pilot's problems and with a little luck they'll be back to a "normal?" schedule shortly. We leave on Sat., but on Icelandair. A little stop in Reykivik ( I know that's not how you spell it, but you get the idea!) and then on to Stockholm. However, even if Regent put us back on the SAS direct from Newark, I'd balk at it. Have flown Icelandair before, and was perfectly  happy. Give me the albeit, less elegant, but I'm sure we'll get there.....any day!

We are flying out of Copenhagen on SAS on August 19th as we come off the Splendor’s North Atlantic cruise. The flight arrangements (made by Regent) still show the Scandinavian leg from Copenhagen to Newark as a go, but if that gets cancelled, does anyone know what Regent will do?

With a little luck, maybe SAS will be back in the air by then. There seems to be some talking going on between management and the pilots over at SAS.

I would keep a close eye on the situation. If (God forbid) SAS does go down the drain, or flights continue to be canceled, let your TA and Regent know you're concerned.

With our case, I think Regent waited a little too long in hopes all would be well with SAS. It was not "well", it was a total mess, with little to no availabilty  for an optional choice. We wound up going out a day earlier than our  included  overnight in Stockholm. It's now "our" obligation to pay for that extra hotel night. Otherwise we could've done the Newark to Istambul and then Istambul to Stockholm...um, no. We were lucky to get Icelandair to Stockholm and that was by the skin of our teeth.

Keep an eye on your flights.

  12. To those who have upcoming cruises.....

Be proactive! I wonder how long Regent was going to let us actually hang with no air?

After multiple major snafus, our air was finally sorted out, however we are spending an additional night in Stockholm.....on what seems to be "our" nickel. We rarely, if ever, complain, but I think this is a case where Regent could actually "treat". It was their delay that put us in this situation.

I guess what I want to say is that if you have an upcoming cruise, be sure your carrier is actually flying, not on strike, not having a slow down, etc.

If I hadn't pushed, we'd still be sitting here expecting Regent to find air for us (of which there was basically none.....).

Yes, my laptop.  The website gave the option of "take a picture"  then I followed the prompts and the picture appeared, check-in complete!   Sounds like you did succeed, so congrats!  Hope you have the boarding passes by now.

We do! Printed out the boarding passes this morning....

Now if we can just get to Stockholm....we're supposed to be on SAS. I've contacted our TA and hopefully Regent is doing something about this......maybe like pick another airline??!!!

    Will keep you posted!

  14. I think....by some miracle....it's gone thru! I'm not getting excited until I actually see our boarding passes in my email!

And then of course, there's the SAS snafu.....we'll see what Regent does but in the meantime, I'll be back to our TA.....I know we're real pests, but it's getting to be serious time now....

BTW, thanks all for your help!!!
