  1. Our cruise sails from Seward and returns back to Vancouver. I'm trying to price options. Return flights from YVR are costlier as opposed to Seattle. So I'm thinking of flying home from Seattle. We are a family of 4. What would be our best option for VYR to Seattle ? I'll take the flight out of SEA the next day so also have to consider spending the night in Seattle and doing some touristy stuff in Seattle. Would one way car rental be our best option ? Any idea how much it would be ?

I would look into bringing the train down to Seattle. It runs several times a day from downtown Vancouver to downtown Seattle.

  2. Does anyone have suggestions? We are going on the Getaway Sept. 27 and when we get back to Miami we'll have several hours until our 4:30 flight. I'd hate to just sit at the airport that long when I'm in a city I've never visited before. Safe & interesting are the key words. Thanks in advance for any advice!

I think you might be able to book a tour of Miami as an excursion ending at the airport. Check with Shore Excursions when you board.

  3. We are thinking of booking a 4:30 flight from Hobby and doing the NCL excursion to the Houston Space Center. Better than sitting in the airport all day! The bus will have our luggage and drop us at the airport. We did a similar excursion to Pearl Harbor when the POA docked at 8a. It made life easier the last day.

If the Houston Space Center is anything like Kennedy, the time allotted for the excursion, is NOT nearly enough to see everything.

  4. I have been sailing with NCL for quite some time now and am shocked by how many HDs come and go. I know it is a terribly hard job but there seems to be a lot of turnover. I love getting to know the HDs and look forward to seeing familiar faces on my cruises. Denis was the best but I know him and Klaus are now VPs. Anyone spotted them lately on the ships? I don't know if they are on the ships but I sure would love to see them.

The ships in Europe are under Denis's umbrella and he travels on board from time to time. Do not know if he slips back into an HD role or not, Klaus will on occasion. The ships based in the States are under his umbrella.

  5. Hello,

Sailing on the Norwegian Gem this November and got assigned to cabin #4501

It doesn't look like there is any cabins on the opposite side (across the hall). Is anyone familiar with this deck?

    Thanks in advance

    Shasi

There are a lot of staff cabins on Deck 4 as well as the Medical Center.

  6. We had a family meeting to determine what ships we would consider for our next cruise. The Sun cruises in Alaska and I've been on the Pearl and Jewel. When I showed them that ship, I got a blank stare from the boys and DH.

They wanted to know about entertainment, how are the water slides, what is there to do.

I know this is subjective and up to each individual's expectations but are they going to be disappointed on the older ships having sailed on the newer ones? DS is 12, DB (dear brother who I am not raising) is 15, and DH is well....about 10 years old.

If you are thinking about an Alaska cruise, only The Pearl, The Jewel and The Sun have Alaskan itineraries. The Jewel does around trip from Seattle, Washington Saturday- Saturday. The Pearl does a round trip Sunday-Sunday from Seattle. The Sun does ONE WAY cruise either from Vancouver, British Columbia Canada to Whittier, Alaska or Whittier to Vancouver and those are Monday-Monday.

  7. Because of all the construction being planned for the Seattle Waterfront (many businesses being closed next summer), the Alaskan Way being torn down and a tunnel under the Eilliot Bay being built, I would suggest that you contact the various car rental companies and ask what their plans are for the summer of 2015. It is going to be a mess most if not al of the area near the cruise terminal.

  8. Where and when do you go to sign up for this tour? Is there a fee?

Last time I was on the Breakaway it was sold out!😢😢

Yes there is a free for the tour unless you have reached Platinum Latitudes status. Ask at the Guest Services Desk as soon as you board.

  9. I love the Behind The Scenes Tour and I do it almost every cruise. Just be aware that it is a lot of walking and climbing up and down stairs. There is also a limit to the number of people in each tour. Is it worth? To me, yes to someone else may be not. I always learn something.

  10. I do not have a problem with putting my name and address on the luggage tags because, if by per chance your suitcase does not arrive at your final destination, they will know where to send. I have had it happen. Arrived home on a Saturday night and my suitcase did not arrive until Thursday afternoon.

I also print out my entire itinerary: flight information, hotel information, ship information, medical information and emergency contact information and put it in the very top of my suitcase, carry-on and in purse in case anything should happen.

  11. If you have an excursion purchased through Norwegian and it is canceled, the price of the excursion is credited to your ship board account. If you have booked through another means and it is canceled, you may or may not get your money back.

I was on cruise a year ago May and was on the bus ready to leave for the excursion when it was canceled because of high winds. It was a Norwegian purchased excursion and my account was credited.
