I heard from a staff member on The Star the plan is: (1) off load passengers, (2) take on some provisions including fuel, (3) head for a dry dock in the Bahamas.
Why dry dock in the Bahamas? Probably it space and staff available. Dry docks are usually booked many months in advance.
He did not say what the nature of the problem was.

You should receive a letter at your hotel telling what time to be in the lobby to leave for the ship.
Every time I have had a transfer from a hotel to the ship, we have arrived at the Port about noon. Had to say on that particular Sunday how long it will take to board, probably not very long.
Have a great cruise and enjoy one of my favorite cities.

The ships are very similar. There is a slight difference in itinerary. The biggest difference is that The Jewel leaves and arrives in Seattle on a Saturday. The Pearl leaves and arrives on a Sunday. Which works better for your friends?

I travel solo on the Getaway and love it. The last couple of cruises I have gotten a Studio cabin which is meant for one person. Did not think I would like and I do- have one booked for my back to back cruise in December.
There is a Studio Lounge which is open in early evening for ALL solo passengers. It is a chance to meet others and make arrangements for dinner, shows, shopping, excursions and whatever.

The scheduled boarding time is Noon, however the boarding process can begin anytime around 11:30 A.M. or a little earlier. There are lots of people have have to be the first ones on the ship for whatever reason.
I have seen people waiting in line to board as I am disembarking.

Does anyone know who the current Bridge and Hotel Officers are for The Jewel?

We were planning to cruise on the Jewel last Sat. but on Mar. 27th my DH got very sick. We thought we might lose him. It happened all of a sudden. He had gotten some type of autoimmune anemia. They are not sure how it happened or what caused it. The dr. said he absolutely could not go on the cruise. He has to have blood work done twice a week and he is still very weak.
We are so thankful that he is going to be ok but disappointed about missing the cruise. We are also so glad that we had insurance. This is an example of you never know what might happen. Things can happen at the blink of an eye.
We have another cruise booked next April but that is a long time to wait. We may be able to squeeze another one in before that. It depends on how often he has to have blood work done eventually.
He is very disappointed too but we are so glad we weren't on the ship when it happened.
I am glad that your husband is doing better.
Yesterday was a classic example of why people need travel insurance not just cruise insurance. Norwegian because of a mechanical issue with The Star canceled Her Panama Crossing Cruise to begin in a few days.

Thanks...was hoping to see him on the Epic on 4/12. :(
The Epic is Denis Prguda's ship. I would not be surprised to see him on board.

Klaus is traveling a lot as Regional Vice President, Fleet Hotel Operations.

Sean comes back to The Getaway on the 18th of April until the middle of June. Will go to Germany late July early August.

Simon Murray from Australia. Went Corporate but with all the Corporate changes in recent weeks, do not know if he is still there.

Starboard or port side on ncl gem going from ny to san juan, st thomas, st maartin and tortola. Which is best on a balcony?
Makes no difference. Each docking or tendering could be from either side depending on a number of factors on that GIVEN day. No way to know in advance how it will be down. Have a great cruise.

Who was the Captain and the Hotel Director?
-
I have been on several cruises with very large groups. For the most part, they are not a problem as they have many of their own activities and dinners arranged so they do not not interfere with other passengers. The only difference might be in the size of the ship. I would not worry about and enjoy cruise.

I have been on The Sun and have another cruise booked for this Fall on Her in an inside. There are lots of outdoor spaces and indoor spaces to see the glaciers on The Sun. Personally, I would not spend the extra money on a balcony and spend that money on excursions.

My list would be long.

This quote comes form anotehr thread:
Here is my question (I did not want to hi-jack that thread...
On the Pride of America's - are the East Meets West and the Teppanyaki restaurant the same restaurant ?
No East Meets West and Teppanyaki are two different restaurants. Teppanyaki is where they cook your meal in front of you like Benihanna. East Meets West is the Oriental restaurant.

Absolutely not

Glad to know that they were able to handle what happened to you and that you are healthy enough to post. I pray that your health continues to improve. Best Wishes

I will be leaving on the 7th of May for my 3rd cruise to Alaska. All have been in May. Other than the weather which could be very chilly, for me it is a great time to go. I do not feel that I have missed anything.

Chengkp75,
I was not going to get into this discussion either until I read your comments.
As stockholder, of the Company I applaud Mr. Del Rio and his efforts to improve the bottom line of the Company. At this moment, this Company is carrying a tremendous debt load: costs of 6 new ships (Epic, Breakaway, Getaway, Escape, Bliss plus 2 unnamed, the purchase of two companies), cost of going public. The everyday costs go up: fuel, insurance, provisions, government fees, not just US fees. Something had to give.
I will continue to support this Company and efforts to restore Her to financial health. I had to restore my own financial health, and I applaud Mr. Del Rio's efforts.

When I was on the Dawn this past January this past January was the same as it always has been.
Hope you have a wonderful cruise. She is an interesting ship with a great staff. I loved my cruise.

Have her check with the Norwegian Wedding Planner. I believe that weddings are ONLY held prior to embarkation and NOT done any more.

The only two where I eat on the Getaway are Cagneys' and La Cucina.

DMH15,
Donna did you happen to note down who the Senior Bridge and Hotel Officers were on The Jewel. There is a lot of interest in the Officers from people boarding for the Panama Cruise and her first cruise to Alaska (me).
Hope you had a great cruise,
Mandy
