ABSOLUTELY NOT
I have FIVE cruises booked and will book a sixth one this weekend.
-
It is a wonderful cruise. I have done it from Miami to LA and from LA to Miami. It is a two week cruise. I am doing a 10 day roundtrip Miami- Miami Partial Panama Cruise on The pearl in November 2016. She will go through one set of locks into Gatun Lake turn around and return back out to Colon, Panama before beginning Her journey back to Miami.
I can not wait for this adventure.

I have had the privilege of being a VIP passenger on several cruises and never had a VIP tag.
-
You do not earn VIP status as a regular passenger. On rare occasions, someone might be granted VIP status by someone within the Company. It is an honor given, not earned.

All of the Alaskan cruises are great.
When I pick one it is based on: (1) How much time do I have, (2) How much money do I have, (3) Which port city- Seattle or Vancouver is best- flight wise, price wise.
You will have a great time on matter which ship or itinerary works best for you.
-
I pre-pay and consider DSC as just another cost of the cruise like port fees and taxes.
-
It all depends on how soon the local officials clear the ship for disembarkation. If I remember correctly, I think it was about 7:30 A.M.- 7:45 A.M. the last time I was on the Getaway.
-
The Jade will probably be very close to being full.
What will be 50% to 75% will be The Escape on Her Inaugural Transatlantic Crossing.
-
The 2 Hour Rule is for when you board the ship in your Embarkation Port-like Miami, New York City, etc.
YOu MUST be on board 2 hours prior to whatever your sailing time is. For instance if you are scheduled to sail at 4:00 P.M. You would be required to be on board by 2 P.M.

Studio Lounges: Epic, Breakaway, Getaway, Escape
From in the Studio area, the Lounge is well marked and at the end of the corridor.
From the outside corridor, the Lounge entrance is well marked,

No Norwegian ship has self-serve laundry. Somewhere during your cruise a fill the bag laundry offer will be made. You can fill a provided paper bag for one price.
-
I live 320 miles south and east of Seattle, early this morning the sky was full of smoke. It is a little better now. It is a tough summer for firefighters- long very hot dry days, fireworks doing damage and several of the fires being called arson.
-
The last time I did this itinerary on The Gem, we were not scheduled to dock until Noon or a little later.
-
Our flight home isn't until evening. Does anyone have any suggestions for something to do for the day before we go to the airport? We will have already seen Pearl Harbor and we really don't want to ride around in a bus all day. Are there any hotels that might have a day room?
Are you doing a pre-cruise hotel package? If so, ask them if they have "day" rooms.

Joanie, thanks for the link.
Prayers to crew member's family, friends, and co-workers.
Yes it is very sad news. Prayers being said for the staff on The Sun, for the members of the Coast Guard Search team and the young man's own family.
-
I have had "Dinner With The Officers" on The Dawn, The Jewel and The Getaway in the last several months.
-
I am not sure that Corporate has a lot to do with staff leaving. On my last three cruises, in talking with staff on many levels, a number are saying "This is my last contract. My family has given up too much and I have given up too much. It is time to put family first".
-
Yes, Norwegian seems to be losing a number of good people lately. Adding Matthias Holz to the list, that is 3 Hotel Directors in short time span.
-
Is Matthias really the Captain mentioned - Mattias?
The normal Captain on the Star has been Captain Kostas Fafalios for several years.
I has assumed that he was also on vacation.
Just my guess.

Judy,
Matthias Holz, Hotel Director has left the Company.

davegirl51 and Seehund123:
Which Matthias has left NCL?
-
Depends on how long the local officials take to clear the ship.

Some OBC is refundable and others not.
Let's say that you purchase a Cruise Reward and receive $100 and you only spend $50 of it. The remaining $50 would deducted from your preliminary statement that you would receive the last morning of the cruise. I am not sure exactly with Canadian funds how that would work. When you purchase your Cruise Reward, I would ask the Cruise Consultant, that person would know or could find out how Canadian funds would work.
-
Booked in Canadian funds and to avoid any additional fees on board we are looking at adding OBC certificates to the booking before we sail (about 9 cents on the dollar saved).
Question is, if there is a remaining balance at the end of the cruise does this get sent via check (cheque :)) or another way?
any tips or other help in other ways to save via exchange rate is much appreciated
If you have OBC refundable credit going ( some OBC is refundable and others not), it will be credit to your on board account.

Only with the Breakaway, Getaway and maybe Epic, do you have to use your room key for lights. Jewel class ships (Gem) lights work just like they would in your home.

Agree With him having to be in Miami for work and family living in New York city since losing their home on Long Island during Hurricane Sandy, I hope that he is getting lots of quality family time. Well Earned Sir
