this is my first time on Carnival, how strict is the dress code on "Elegant" nights? Is a jacket required for men or will a nice dress shirt and slacks do? Holland as relaxed the code for dressy nights and jackets or ties are no longer required. Thanks, Paul

We always tip when handing off our bag, but never have more than 2 bags. Once the bag gets onto the ship it's up to the crew as to when they get delivered to your room. Sounds like you just help with lots of luggage and the manual labor aspect of it.

I haven't gotten any recently either, I was just on the Westerdam, my comeback and sail offer was for $600 in free play but no free cabin. Maybe in a month or so if the Alaska season isn't selling out. -Paul

when I get a "free" casino offer for a cabin I don't get charged the single supplement. Also if you are 4 or 5 stars you get "Private sale offers" and these fares are greatly reduced and make the single supplement much less painful to shallow. When I have been charged the single supplement for cruising solo they are kind enough to leave 2 Mariner Cocktail coupons in my cabin instead of just 1. 😅

We were just on the Westerdam and it also had a quick drydock. Carpets, some paint, ect... some cruisers who sail on other lines and not use to HAL, they were from the UK, complained about how old and simple the ship was. I felt like telling them it was just 20 years old and does fine for the itineraries it serves. We were on a 13 day Indonesian Discovery, RT from Singapore.

My understanding is nothing is on the books through 2025. So it would be in the 2nd half of the decade. I would assume a 4th Pinnacle class or a whole new class even bigger with more features than the Pinnacles offer. The 4 Vista's are now all 20+ years old but I don't expect them to begin replacing them with a whole new medium sized 2k pax ship. The life expectancy of a cruise ships tops out at about 25-30 years -Paul
