Our Paws did have thumbs....very useable thumbs....that occasionally got him in a bit of trouble...!! And....was only a svelte 17 pounds...:)

Thanks for posting this thread....it's a concerning issue and I hope the HAL forum monitor let's this thread remain on this board...where it's easily seen and not moved to another board... I haven't taken a solo cruise since my husband passed away a year ago...but I flew to Waikiki and stayed two months solo last fall...with the only daily "chore" of bobbing in the pool and watching the sunset....!! I think the advice of taking a quieter, less-busy cruise at first is great...an easier transition to get pass any anxiety or potential problems.... Thanks again for posting....:)

I also escape in books....I don't watch television...in fact...I gave away all our televisions to family...:) I have Netflix, Prime and OPB on my laptop and kindle....and my family often call and suggest a new movie or series to watch....they also tell me which ones have a "high-body count" to avoid...!! I put them on my favorites list....and then.....start another book....😅

These pictures probably look pretty puny compared to all the snow so many of you are dealing with.....but this is a big deal.... My granddaughter, her husband and their dog...this morning at the coast in Newport, Oregon.....where it rarely, ever, snows....😅 And...because it will drop to 21 tonight...I had to cancel my MRI tomorrow and reschedule for the 9th...oh well....it is pretty out there....😉

I am also in the "3:00 AM" club...!! It started a year ago when my DH was in the hospital....and I'm still waking at 3:00 if I'm lucky..........sometimes it's 1:00..........and on very rare nights I make it clear to 4:00.... I worried about it when I couldn't seem to get back in sync....but now I just roll with it and enjoy the early...very early....peace, quiet and the eventual sun coming up... And...even tho I'm sitting on the west coast....I am usually one of the first to read the Daily.... 😅

I have three friends who live in New Zealand....one in the North Shore area out of Auckland...one in Paparoa (north of Auckland...who is safe but surrounded with floods and devastation from the cyclone)...and one in Upper Hutt north of Wellington (who was hit with heavy rains but no damage...then had a 6.3 earthquake)...all three are saying "Mother Nature doesn't like us right now"....😟 Hope they get a break soon....!!

The times I've flown out of Logan...I needed every bit of 2 hours pre-boarding...not pre-flight-time....I wouldn't try it either....

While visiting with a friend yesterday...she said at our age we should expect some of our body parts and pieces would be warped and wearing out... Then we cracked up laughing on how we had finally hit "warp-speed"...😅😉

I've only been able to sleep about two hours in my bed...before my shoulder pain forces me to move to a recliner for another few hours... Yesterday...my new adjustable bed arrived...I put the mattress pad and fitted sheet on...then tried it out... Only had one problem....I elevated the head and turned on the massage...and didn't want to get out and finish making my bed.....😅 And....success....I slept all night and even had a little massage before getting up this morning...........doesn't cure the shoulder pain...but it sure made things better.....!!! Thinking of all those going thru tough times right now....take care....

And I just ordered one too.....getting things ready for my inevitable shoulder replacement....

Just an update..... I am dragging my feet....but will be forced to cancel my month-long London trip in April...and pretty bummed about it.... I've been having shoulder pain and thought it was tendonitis...had xrays and saw the shoulder specialist a few days ago....it's bone on bone and will need a full shoulder replacement with possible rotator cuff repair (MRI is scheduled).....can't sleep in my bed...too much pain....I'm having to sleep in a recliner.... Hoping to keep body parts and pieces together long enough for another trip to Hawaii in July with family....possibly with a cortisone shot prior to the trip....then surgery sometime after...... Well...this is just another dip in the road....!!!

Could not be more relieved seeing your posts...truly.....!!!! And that your fighting spirit hasn't dampened a bit....!!! So glad you are on your way home....hope it isn't a total nightmare....

I know we are all feeling this....but I am absolutely "gutted" over Jacqui @kazu and Kathi @Scrapnana....there is no better word.... I hope both are receiving the help they need right now....and can get safely home.... And....thanks Ann @Vict0riann for your update on Jacqui.... On a more positive note....I've been thinking about how we can prepare for Plan B's....especially when traveling solo.....so here is the challenge....put your thinking caps on and let's find some good ideas.....!!

She has gone thru so much....this is horrible....!! And it is a huge worry going solo.....I honestly am not sure about my upcoming plans....
