Oh, Gwen.  So unlike you — you are always on top of things.  Glad to hear that Fred is continuing to do well and you will be able to sail with us on Saturday.  Going to get serious today about packing — I think!  🚢 ️ ⛴   Katherine

Yes Katherine.  It is unlike me.  I've just been so busy with all kinds of things lately.  Just the other week, I had jury duty one day, stress test another day,  I took my neighbor for her PT and every Thursday, I take my handicapped Aunt for her hairdresser appt. It was just one of those stupid things you do sometimes. Of course age doesn't help remembering things either....I always leave all our cruise papers next to the computer, so I can keep tabs on them.  Anyway.  I couldn't get into my reservation for May this morning, so I called C&A and they had to unlock it for me.  I did print out our set/sail passes for now.  Luggage tags will  be printed when they release the docs.

Looking forward to cruising away next Saturday.  Can't wait.  I am in the middle of packing now.  Have to take an extra suitcase this time, because I don't want the suitcases to be too heavy for Fred to handle.  Or me, with my bad back...lol

Look forward to "sea"ing you next Saturday....

Good luck, and I hope your husband recovers quickly.

Just FYI for the future - I have never known RC send a reminder email.  Payment is the customer’s responsibility. I usually put a reminder on my calendar.  If you book with a TA they may send a reminder, but I am referring to bookings made directly with RC.

Oh, I have gotten reminders several times.  I found it unusual, but, it was nice.  I book directly through RC.

I know it is my responsibility and I am really upset that I messed up this time.  We've done about 35 cruises with Royal and have never been late once.  Just too many things going on this time.  I hope I have learned my lesson. And I always put a reminder on my calendar...except for this time.

Hope it all works out for you and your husband is doing well.  Enjoy your cruise!

Thanks...he's doing good, he just needs some more tests when we return for our cruise.   I'm just a little apprehensive and will be a little nervous on the cruise, but, all his doctors said he is good to go. At least we always take out the insurance. But, glad this didn't happen on our cruise. It was a close call......

    We enjoy all our cruises!

I missed a final payment once shortly after they changed when the final payment is due.  I got a call from a customer service rep and was allowed to make the payment over the phone.

I was surprised that I forgot, because Royal always sends reminders by email. But, none this time.  I know it is my fault, but, just one of those things that you have to live and learn by....

  5. Thanks, I did call last night, 24 hrs after it was due and they took my payment, but, just a little worried that they already may have cancelled it without the agent that I talked to knowing it.

I might call today and double check.  I was just preoccupied after my husband had a heart attack 3 days after our cruise in December and we have an upcoming cruise this Saturday that I've been trying to get ready for and completely forgot about the final payment for our May cruise.  Just too many things going on right now.

    8898 + 106 = 10,000?

LOL...well, I tried to get there sooner.  Just add about another 100 posts.  You have to excuse me. I'm leaving for a cruise today.  I'm in cruise mode, not mathematics. I'll blame it on my age and being blond. I think I need a vacation too. But, I still don't know what I did to mess up my screen name. :classic_blush:

    Thanks for the post.

I had a similar problem back in 2006. As you can see, I am listed as having joined in 2006.  I actually joined in 2000 with a different user name.

However, in 2006, there was a major overhaul of the board  (was it the change over from AOL ?) and we were suppose to recreate our user name and log in the first time on the new board.

The problem was that when I went to do so, I was told my user name was already taken and to pick a new one, which I did.

I did do a slow burn every time I saw a new post from the old "me" along with my total post numbers. Whoever took my name is no longer using it as that name is no longer listed as a member.

I just couldn’t figure out how it changed when I didn’t log out. I stay logged in all the time. I had to log in on my iPad, but didn’t change anything. I did originally sign up with just cruzinlady47, but, they wouldn’t let me use that because that was already taken.  Doesn’t matter now. At least these nice people here helped me out.

This person only has 8000 post count and not 10,000.

I said almost 10,000 posts. Just 106 more posts to go. I didn’t want to start over with my count.

Now, I have to finish packing for my cruise on Saturday.  You all have been very helpful. Thanks.  I feel like my old self again. 😉

We were given an upgrade on a cruise last November from balcony cabin to JS, and I didn't know the ruling, but I queried the number of points we had been allocated which was just the points for the balcony cabin, I was informed we didn't qualify for the extra points for the JS because we hadn't paid for a JS.    It's just as well we didn't pay for the JS, because it was in a very bad position on the ship, and we ended up being under the galley for the Windjammer.   We learned a lesson the hard way!!!!

Thanks, I knew I probably wouldn’t get the extra points, just thought I’d ask.  I think we will be under the Solarium.  It won’t be the worst place we’ve ever been.  Hopefully it won’t be bad.  I’m still happy about it.

Theoretically no, but you never know.

I got points for our free Pinnacle cruise.

Didnt pay a dime other than tax and tips.

The naysayers tell me I'll eventually lose them.

Thanks, I didn’t think we would.  I’m just happy for the upgrade.  The extra points would be nice, but, I wouldn’t have had them to begin with.  We should get our 420 block on this cruise. We will never make Pinnacle, but, it’s fun trying......

    Gwen 😀

  11. I know I've seen this question before, but, with this new setup, I can't seem to find the answer.

If you get a free upgrade to a JS, will you get the extra points?  It really doesn't matter, but, would still like to know if you do.  We just got upgraded from an ocean view to a JS for our cruise this Thursday. The extra points would be nice, but, I know we didn't pay for them. I'm just really happy that we got the JS, so not really expecting the extra points. I'm just curious. This is only our 2nd upgrade in close to 40 cruises on Royal.

    Thanks....

    Gwen 😀

  12. I absolutely love balconies, especially the aft corner balconies.  I have only had them twice and haven't had a whole lot of balcony cabins with our 40+ cruises. We  book inside or ocean view, so we can go on more cruises.

I do use a balcony, if we have one.  I am on it sometimes in the middle of the night or early morning to catch the sunrise.  I sit on it during the day too.  If I don't have a balcony, you will find me on the outside Promenade deck watching the sea as we sail by. That is why I only like the smaller ships that have that Promenade deck with chairs and lounges.  Not interested in sailing on those huge ships. Just doesn't interest me.  But, everyone has their own likes. That's what makes cruising great. You can do as much or as little as you want.

I don't feel spoiled from sailing in a balcony cabin, but, if the price is right or it's a special occasion, we will pay the extra. It's a special treat.  We do get the balcony discount, which is nice too.

With what we save on booking insides or ocean views, we can cruise 4 or 5 times a year.  To each, their own...

  13. I personally don’t like the “sideways” cabins. Therefore, I prefer the cabins on decks 2, 3 or 4.  There are regular size interior cabins and large interior.  I prefer the large cabin.  It’s not much bigger, but, still better and more room at the bottom of the bed.  Also, if you have the bed separated, it seems so much larger and better to get in and out of bed. Especially for a potty break diring the night.

That being said, I’d take any cabin if it was the last one available on a cruise I wanted to go on........😉

  14. From my experience last year they don't let you go from a specific room to a gty booking after final payment. You could only upgrade to another you pick room. (No idea what would happen if you booked gty and wanted to upgrade to a better gty but already had your room assigned.)

Last year, after final payment, I took a balcony guarantee for $50 more. I was assigned an accessible balcony about a month before the cruise.

  15. Gwen, when you get on board, they'll make room for you in first seating. You are D+. They like to keep top tier people happy. :) (not to mention that you practically live on board ;) :D )

Thanks, I’ll do that if I can’t get it beforehand. I plan on calling to ask about it. Although I do like the Windjammer for dinner too. Also might go to Giovanni’s a couple times with our D+ BOGO and the extra OBC. I was just glad to get on board one of the other 12 night cruises. I’ll be on my favorite ship......can’t get much better than that! Thanks again.

  16. I guess I lucked out. I called Royal as soon as I got the email last evening. It took a while to get things settled, but, I got an ocean view, which I originally had. It is on a different deck, but, that is OK. Everything else stayed the same, price wise and also kept our original OBC, plus the additional $200. The only other thing that is different, is our dining time. We prefer 5:30 and the only thing they had was late or MTD. I took the late seating, but, on the wait list for early. If I don't get it, I have no problems eating in the Windjammer. Sometimes, I even like it better.

    Gwen :D
