  1. I'm curious why is was displayed there. It seems kind of random, or was it? Thanks for the picture. I will love going back to Singapore some time. I was last there in 1976 on my way from Bali to Manila!! ~Nancy
  2. @Leejnd4 I read many of your posts on the Crystal forum before the pandemic and always thought you presented entertaining and valuable information in your reports. I appreciate the info and comparison of Windstar to Crystal. My package does include their early booking offerings of reduced single supplement, beverage package plus Wi-Fi, gratuities and unlimited laundry! No extras have to be paid for except excursions if I choose! I'm happy with that! Now I just have to wait a loooonggg time! (February 2025) ~Nancy
  3. Whoa!!! So glad you folks warned us about this! Thanks again everyone. ~Nancy
  4. That does look like something really different! I will be interested to hear from anyone with firsthand experience. TripAdvisor has a lot of reviews. I'll have a look at them too. Thanks, ~Nancy
  5. I'm not jen.claire.389 but I found the Huahine Europcar website here: Europcar - Car Rental Agency in Fare (business.site) ~Nancy
  6. I have been checking back here on the Carnival Forum just to try and catch your next trip report! Yes, I enjoyed the last one that much! 😊 Have a relaxing trip! ~Nancy
  7. Ah ha! A new soup technique learned from you today! I must confess though; this San Francisco Area dweller doesn't like sourdough bread!! Shhhhhh....don't tell the food police, I may get my Bay Area residency permit pulled! 😁 ~Nancy
  8. Yes, on Symphony there were several two tops along that wall with bench seating facing out. There were chairs on the other side of the tables. As a solo I was usually given one of those bench two tops. It was OK in that configuration since no one was required to scoot around like the large semicircular ones shown will need. I do actually like the circles theme in the room....wall decoration, carpet design and even the looks of the semicircular booths. I just don't like to have to "scooch" around into them! I'll do it if necessary for great food though! ~Nancy
  9. @PACD_JGI really think that the timing HAL offered was not just some random weird time to give you for the spreading of ashes. I might guess that the position of the ship needs to be in possibly international waters or a required distance from shore, tides, etc.. I doubt that it's legal to discharge the cremains just any old place at a more convenient time. Maybe you can make 1am work for your family. Best wishes, ~Nancy
  10. See post #4. Unfortunately, we were told by HAL last fall that the non pinnacle ships will no longer have Rudy's pop-up dinners. I have enjoyed them on all but one sailing in the pre shutdown days. ~Nancy
  11. @RagDadTX Welcome to Cruise Critic! You will get lots of great information and...some not so great, 😉, but it's really been worth my time to show up here and read the forums that I'm interested in. Have a wonderful cruise! ~Nancy
  12. @Lois R I stayed at the Riverside last October based on your recommendation (and good TripAdvisor reviews) and loved it and the area! I'm booked to spend my pre cruise time there next May as well. I'm usually a solo traveler also. Thanks for the suggestion and your other comments in other areas of CC as well!! ~Nancy
  13. Solos don't pay double for the HIA thank goodness! We sure do pay double for the cabin though and don't get double Mariner days for that. 😞 I know that going in though so it's part of my decision-making process. ~Nancy
  14. @countdephotos I use tags like these. Amazon has several different types. I gave some to my cruising companions a couple of times. They liked them too! Keeps tags dry and intact. I put them on before leaving to go to the port....after the flight.
  15. Oosterdam will not have a Sel de Mer pop up per HAL. Only the three pinnacle ships offer Rudi's Sel de Mer in the permanent standalone restaurant. People report that other special dinners in the Pinnacle restaurant were only offered on longer cruises. How many days is your Oosterdam cruise @m921759? ~Nancy
  16. I liked the soup but ordered it in a regular cup. No way I could eat even part of the sourdough bowl then the rest of my dinner!!! ~Nancy
  17. My doctors tell their patients there will be no card given out because anyone could counterfeit a card. TSA is always going to scan/wand/pat you down if the scanner shows metal. As they should!! The others above have described my experiences at the airport and ships as well. You just expect the extra attention then go on your way to your cruise!!! ~Nancy
  18. Thanks for the tip. Her style of tour sounds like something I would enjoy. I probably wouldn't even recognize Columbus as you describe it now. I don't have any personal connections there anymore so probably won't be back anytime soon! I think I'll go to the South Pacific instead!!! 😎 🏝️🌺 ~Nancy
  19. Thanks @Piaa. I'll check about the mileage. Most car rentals here in the US offer them with unlimited mileage so I hadn't even thought about that! Reminds me to always read that "fine print"!!! I'm new to Windstar so am really looking forward to the small ship experience. My previous 3 wonderful trips to the islands were on (old) Crystal Symphony which only carried about 600-700 on those cruises. That had been my sweet spot for ship size. Paul Gauguin looks great too, but I got a pretty good single supplement deal on Windstar for this one. ~Nancy
  20. Thank you both for sharing your first-hand experience! I'll reserve a car at the Moorea ferry dock Avis. @Dbld777 By the way, I'm an Ohio State grad. March 1976!! Threw my diploma in my trunk and moved to San Francisco. I've not been back to Columbus since but would like to see what it's like now. Thanks folks. ~Nancy
  21. @WetterWashington Welcome to Cruise Critic and thanks for your reporting!!! ~Nancy
  22. Remember that the extra item on the Club Orange menu is offered one per day. Not the whole list every day. The rest of the menu is the same as the MDR menu that day. ~Nancy
  23. I will be arriving in Papeete on the Windstar Breeze and am then going to Moorea to spend a week on land. Is it cheaper or easier to rent the car in Papeete and take the ferry to Moorea or just wait until I arrive in Moorea to rent it? Thanks for any information about the rental cars there. ~Nancy
  24. Their website you posted says there is no parking on cruise days. "Lot Details Number Of Spaces: 125 Lot Number: 81 Lot Type: Surface Transient Parking Lot Restrictions : No Parking On Cruise Days Entrance: The Embarcadero Exit: The Embarcadero" Try this one nearby: San Francisco Cruise Parking (sfcruiseparking.com) ~Nancy
  25. All that important stuff you taught us about Iceland, and the part I will probably remember the most is the Icelandic Phallological Museum! 😎 ~Nancy
