  1. One of my favorites, seagulls in a pool in Nassau on one of our Fantasy cruises:

And these were not on a Carnival cruise, but they were above the toilets in the men's room on our Hawai'i cruise and quite outrageous:

    Those are only a few.

  2. It's all about saving money since they get are getting smaller per diems than most other lines on most sailings.

    Bill

Oh, we understand that. Like I said earlier, we noticed it about 5 years ago and it's not just Carnival, it's all the lines and figured it was cost cutting...but I can't sleep when the temp is above 70 and our cabin got up as high as 82 during the night. It would drop back down to around 78, but still that is way too hot to sleep comfortably.

  3. Yes. We cruised to Bermuda in 2006 on the tiny Celebrity Horizon. It was small enough to go through the canal and people on their balconies could almost touch the ship. Everyone would stand on their balconies and wave as we sailed through. The big ships can't do that, though.

The beaches are beautiful and the people are super nice and very helpful...no one tried to sell us anything and when we looked confused, people would stop and offer to help us find where we wanted to go. We would also tell the bus driver when we got where we were going and they would always stop and tell us that was our stop. None of them forgot our requests or those of other tourist.

We bought a three day bus pass and went all over Hamilton and St. Georges...we walked a lot and we also took the ferry to the fort a few times. I wish I had pictures, but that was before we bought a digital camera.

It's a nice change from the Caribbean.

  4. Along with bringing you wine glasses your room steward will also keep the ice bucket filled to place your bottle in to keep cool. I purchased the wine diaper reusable padded absorbent bags to keep my wine safe and sound during travel. I put a corkscrew and a bottle stopper in a baggie and was ready to go.

Thirty-One makes a nice insulated bottle holder that is perfect for a bottle of wine and it has handle. I just carry that on with my carry-on luggage. It's a cute little bag.

  5. I have taken a corkscrew before, but now I buy the kind with the screw off lid, much easier. I also ask the cabin steward to keep me stocked with a bucket of ice and white wine glasses (because that's what I drink). I get new glasses and ice every day. If for some reason he/she forgets the glasses or I run out, I get some from the Atrium Bar, just ask. I usually take a glass with me to dinner and you may walk around the ship with it...no one knows where you got it!

  6. I'll weigh in here is as well. I was in 9474 last week. The first 2.5 days the room was unbearably hot. Sweating while laying in bed. I personally went to guest services 3 times. Each time a technician came to the cabin while we were not in the room and left a table tent that said everything is within carnival specs. Day 3 my roommate caught the tech in the room he was putting the temperature probe in the cold air output to get a temp read. It read 73. My roommate made him stand in the middle of the room with the probe. Surprise, surprise is was 78.6. He promised he would make it better. That night after dinner, the temp in the cabin was bearable and remained bearable until the last sea day. At that point we had given up. We were determined to not let it ruin our vacation.

I'll say this, one of my favorite things about sea days is taking an afternoon nap. Because of the temp in the cabin it was too uncomfortable to do so.

I did talk to our cabin steward about the situation. I asked him to be honest. He was very worried about his job to speak honestly about it, but he confirmed that there was a problem in his section for at least the last 6 cruises. We dealt with it for a week, imagine having to clean toilets and showers in these conditions for 6 weeks and it's still not fixed?

I'll be calling customer care to file a complaint. It didn't ruin my cruise, but it definitely was a detriment.

Here's a good way to present your case. Air temp will always be much cooler at vent. Time and temp at bed level on night stand.

  7. No!! We've been through this on another thread. I love the tear off section and I'm not printing them out before I leave...too much paper...And why would I want to carry any more paper with me? I need that extra weight/space for shoes!

I've often thought about why, oh why is it so important about seeing them in advance. Do these people have planning OCD?
    Yes, we do.
  8. I personally would also find 76-78 degrees too warm as well. If that's what Carnivore is saying is an acceptable range, I think they need to rethink those specs

Agree! We didn't sleep much until they brought us a fan. On RCCl's Serenade of the Seas, our cabin steward found us big box fan. It took up a lot of space but it was worth walking around it to be able to sleep at night.

  9. If you saw my pic a couple of pages back, you'll see that our cabin on the Fantasy was 77 a couple of years ago. We threatened to take our pillows and blanket and sleep in the atrium lobby. The public areas are always very cool and I love that. We like our room cold to sleep (68 degrees), and we couldn't sleep in the 77 degrees...and as the night went on, it got up to 82, then would drop back to 75. It went up and down like this all night.

But, it's not just Carnival, we've found this to be the norm on RCCL and Princess, too. We started noticing about five years ago that we couldn't get it cold enough for us to sleep comfortably. I think it's the cruise lines' way of cost cutting.
