  1. Yes, check that...our last two cruises didn't have Priority on our boarding pass or our luggage tags. I called last time and Carnival said it was because our TA had not put us in as Platinum and I had to call them...I thought our past guest numbers would have indicated that and it would be there automatically!

  2. I see so many people with their sparkly clean new sneaks, then come back all blistered. I bring my broken in sneaks in port. Guess I'm not out to impress.

Oh, yeah, we never take new shoes. When we did cave tubing we took our old tennis shoes (I'm from the South, we call them tennis shoes) because we knew we'd be walking through the jungle and into the water, didn't wear them again after that.

  3. It sounds like they need to remove the clam shells....an empty clam shell is a horrible touch. :(

I liked the goodies.....it was a nice touch for sure.

I actually used to put my personal items in!

I always thought the freebees were manufacturers samples. Not paid for by Carnival just handed out complimentary for free advertizing. Sometimes they run out...

Last few years they have been, but earlier you used to get lotions, soap and I think shampoo before they put a dispenser in the shower. We've even gotten those little shoe shine cloths before...many years ago.

  4. We usually order RS late at night and get the BLTs and cookies and milk and since it's just for the two of us, we tip $2 in cash.

The tip is not automatically added to our sign and sail account so you should tip the person who brings it.

  5. We've always gotten bar soap. There is also sometimes a clamshell of toiletries, but lately it's been sparse.

Our clemshell last month was empty, that's right empty. We thought maybe our steward didn't get a chance to fill it up, he never did. We figured it was another cutback. There used to be so many nice things in them, then it went to those two or three little sample things to nothing...

  6. OMG, dahlin'! Put on some Jimmy Buffet CDs, pour yourself as many margaritas as you can drink, keep coming here for support and before you know it, you'll be on that ship! I'm right behind you so I'll be looking to my support group on CC to get me through it.:D

  7. We take one of those little electrical fans, but it has to be in your carry-on, they will confiscate it if it's in your checked luggage...found that out the hard way!

Because I have asthma and need the room cooler than what it gets to sleep, I have to have a fan, the cabins are just never cold enough. Recently I began requesting from Specials Needs and have always gotten one.

We noticed about 5 years ago that the air conditioners on all ships did not get as cold as they used to. We, too, had the A/C guy check it out and was told it was working fine...we figured it was a cut back measure to save some money. They set them at a certain temp and that's it.

  8. Since your questions have been answered, I will give my opinion on YTD vs. traditional. Since we began doing YTD several years ago, that's the only one we book now. It gives you some flexibility when you are in port. Before that was an option, we would book the late seating for the same reason, we didn't have to rush back to the ship when in port to get ready for dinner.

As far as service in YTD, we have not noticed any difference, it's still very good. When we find a wait staff we like, we ask for them the rest of the cruise.

We usually choose our cabins to make sure we're not under the Lido deck (you hear chairs dragging around all hours) or under or over a lounge -- music until 2:00 a.m. if you go to bed before then. We like to pick cabins near the elevators, or close to the pool or dining rooms.

  9. When we book our cruises our TA always asks if there are any dietary restrictions and this is when I tell them no salt for me. Usually your waiter will ask when ordering if you have YTD and I tell them also.

  10. Hey all I have another question. How do I know what days are the formal nights? Are they just listed in the fun times? I would like to know ahead of time because I would like to make a reservation in the Sun King Steakhouse.

It will be in your Fun Times. You will get it the night before. Under the dining options it will tell you, Cruise Elegant or Cruise Casual. Your Cruise Elegant nights are usually on sea days, but occasionally they fall on a port day, just check your Fun Times before you go to bed for the next night's dress suggestion. You may also check with Guest Services when you board and they can most likely tell you.

  11. People are always surprised when they ask what my favorite cruise line is and I tell them Carnival. Everyone has this idea of drunken wild people on Carnival. I tell them maybe during spring break, but not when I cruise! I also tell them that we've been on Celebrity and other cruise lines during spring break and they've had wild, drunken people on them.

I actually haven't seen much of this on Carnival in the last several years, but then we don't cruise during spring break!

  12. Absolutely. After we find a wait staff we like, we ask for them the rest of the cruise.

We usually go around 6:00 and ask for a table for two and have never had to wait. Once we waited until around 6:30 and had to wait; I think the later you go, the more likely you will have to wait. If you want to meet people, you can sit at a larger table.

  13. Have been on both the Liberty and some RCI ships. I love the Liberty, pretty ship. I don't like the American Table menu they began in January. A great band to watch is Music Broadway.

Be sue to try the Fish and Chips; it's upstairs in the buffet.

I have pictures below or our most recent Liberty cruise.
