  1. We did self disembark in May and we left the ship around 7:15, got our luggage and didn't even have to wait at Customs...went right up to the agent, he checked us through and we were on our way. Of course we didn't have anything for him to check 'cause we didn't buy anything! There was hardly anyone in the luggage warehouse area.

It may be a different story if you are not doing self disembark.

  2. Thank you for the review. I agree with you about the cabins being too hot. We learned several years ago to take a small fan with us, but don't put it in your checked bag...it will get confiscated. We had to go a whole cruise without it one year - on the Liberty as a MOF! - because they found it when my bag went through the X-ray.

I have noticed, too, that the service has gotten slower since they changed to the American Table menu and I don't think the food is as good, but that's my opinion. They just put the crème brulee back on the menu, it wasn't on it in January, but was for our June cruise.

I love the Liberty and love her décor. Glad you enjoyed the ship and your cruise.

  3. I'm really sorry for those of you who didn't like the ship. We love it. We know it's old, in fact we sailed on the Fantasy for the first time in 1998. There have been some changes made since then, but what I love about is that it's smaller. Sometimes I just get tired of the mega ships. It's also a great quick get away for us, easy drive down, easy embarkation and debarkation, food is good. I hate the ports of call, but love the ship. But everyone has their opinion so to the OP, just book it and make your own opinion.

  4. It is extremely annoying when you're trying to get on the ship on embarkation day and even worse trying to get off in ports, especially if you have an excursion you're trying to get to.

They should have a line for those not wanting their pictures taken so we can get on the ship and get off the ship as quickly as we want.

The photographers in the dining room are also annoying because they come by when you have a mouthful of food, then they want everyone to stand behind someone else, get close, etc...I'm there to enjoy my dinner, not take pictures. We just tell them no.

  5. We were on a Princess cruise one year during Wilma and we never knew it. The captain took us around it, but we did miss Cozumel. We did have to hurry to the ship because they were closing the port very early, but that's the only time we ever knew there was a hurricane. I wouldn't worry, they won't take you anywhere there is danger.

  6. After almost 30 cruises and flying, we've never had much damage to speak of. Ours has just worn out. When we had to replace our large suitcase (the zipper broke) we got one with the spinner wheels, and I've been concerned about the wheels getting broken off; seems to me they would be easier than the old ones to break off, but you can't find the old kind anymore.

If you watch how both the airlines and the cruise lines throw them around, it's a wonder luggage lasts as long as it does.

  7. Thank for taking the time to post. FYI, I learned, the hard way I might add, to write my review in microsoft word and then copy and paste. That way I can save as I type and if I have internet issues or need to go, I can just save it and pick up later. I'll use put a symbol where I want to insert a picture to remind me when I go to post the review here.

Ditto...And you can spell check it.

Great review and love your pics...I love San Juan and your pics took me back.

  8. Do you keep scrapbooks? I make a scrapbook of every vacation with every receipt and of course the sign & sail cards. If you have anything like that that may have a receipt, or photos from the ship's photographers...good luck, I hope you can find a way to get credited.

Just thought of something...could you have used a nickname? Back when we first started cruising (way before 9/11) I used my nickname. Back then you didn't have to have your legal name on everything...maybe they have it that way.

  9. I have never heard from them from any paper or e-mail survey I've ever filled out. In fact, I didn't even get an e-mail survey after our January cruise. When we got back from our cruise a couple of weeks ago, I called them and asked for it. Got it, submitted it, have heard nothing, but then I didn't ask them to contact me either and since I had no significant complaint, there was really no need to be contacted.

  10. OH! Guess I'm behind the curve? ;) I don't remember reading that, but in any case I'm glad she's O.K. I always enjoyed cruising with her, and have no doubt that she'll excel in whatever she decides to do. :D

    "SKY"

Ken, I think Corey told me that at our M&G.

  11. Thanks so much everyone! That's great. We were planning to go straight to the MDR after we board the ship anyway because we have steakhouse reservations for the first night. Wanted to tell them we'd be gone the first night but would be back on night #2. I'll re-confirm the 4 top at that time as well.

So how do I find the email for the maître d' on my ship? And if my cruise isn't until November is it OK that I'm asking this of them this early on?

Check with guest services to find out what time he will be available and then get in line well before. On our last cruise a couple of weeks ago, he was to be available at 2:00. I was third or fouth in line (got there around 1:30) and by 2:00 there was a long line behind me.

  12. We had it for the first time in January and didn't like it for the same reasons, hard to figure out, too busy, old favorites were gone. A couple of weeks ago, I still didn't like it much because I would forget about the sides and the Yukon Golden Whipped Potatoes are scrumptious, but two of my favorite desserts were back. Maybe if people keep complaining about it, they'll bring back the old ones!

  13. Absolutely, but meet the maître d' once on board to confirm that you have a 4-top. On our last cruise our TA had requested a table for two for us, and it was confirmed, but when we got on board and checked with the maître d' it was not. He changed it for us.

  14. We like the Your Time Dining, but it was full when we booked our most recent cruise and we were waitlisted. Just before sailing waitlisted changed to confirmed @

    6:00.

Once we boarded we saw the maître d' and he changed us to a table for two @ 6:00 and waitlisted us for YATD. The next afternoon, we had a card in under our door confirming YTD.

You should definitely see the maître d'. There are always people who cancel or don't want YTD and you can be moved. Good luck!
