  1. If I do not interact with them face to face; they are not a tipped position.
  2. Thank you. I am well aware the published position statement on the topic. Behind the scenes personnel, as I stated above, are not tipped positions. My cruise fare covers their salary.
  3. Completely different business model; you are comparing apples and oranges. Furthermore, no one (at least me) is advocating to not tip. I just refuse to be guilted into blindly contributing a pre determined amount into a slush fund
  4. Since win are laundry staff and dishwashers, tipped positions? Clean linen and clean flat ware are the bare minimum expected for my exorbitant cruise fare
  5. The list is solely for the accounting department so they can override the automatic billing
  6. Then they must be aware that gratuities are optional and not guaranteed. My statement was they know what they’re guaranteed salary is, that is what you sign or do not sign the contract for. They still get gratuities from me, it’s just in a different format.
  7. Their laws do not dictate compulsory gratuity, the law dictates, pricing transparency. They must post they complete all in price.
  8. And Royal makes sure the crew gets paid for exactly what their contract says. If one isn’t OK with the guts red minimum wage, they should not have signed the contract
  9. Gratuities are ALWAYS optional, no matter what. Legality as no bearing in the discussion.
  10. I refuse to accept any of that responsibility. If you allow yourself to be manipulated, that’s on you
  11. Where do your family members live? I assure you, they are being paid a living wage as determined by that home county; otherwise they would not have signed the contract to work
  12. The crew IS paid a living wage, this is mandated and governed by international convention.
  13. It could only be a fare subsidy it it were ever part of the fare, alas, it is not.
  14. Hardly positive news. They were FORCED to make this change because the messaging function is next to worthless a not worth paying for. Also, no other lines joined in on this money grab, this made Royal look bad.
  15. Then it isn’t a gratuity, is it? What you just described is a salary subsidy. I refuse to participate
  16. If I don’t see them, they aren’t a tipped position No, I won’t be paying anyone more than o have in the past; what I tip is based on performance.
  17. It states at the bottom of your Diamond drink receipt that gratuity is included.
  18. The crew is VERY happy with the wage. They are paid very well for the economy where their money is spent.
  19. We aren't discussing "prices" we are discussing a salary supplementation scheme
