  1. As an avid reader of English mysteries, I'll go also with Mark's, Andrew's and HBE4 "interpretation" -- eavesdropping/lurker πŸ˜‰ + 1 Greg @Sea Dog ... And, as if this horrible ongoing war is not enough to make me very sad, one of our BFF, Alex, had a stroke last week, rendering him unable to use his right side 😒😒. When I arrived to the special new immigrants school, almost 60 years ago, Alex (a "veteran" of 2 years) took me under his wing -- both in helping with the Hebrew/math/bible lessons and with the work we had to perform (milking cows, leaving him the "nervous" ones...). Despite our difficult beginnings, he went on to earn a Ph.D. in science teaching from East Lansing, MI, and, until the stroke, was working at the Weizmann Institute. Just more than a month ago I finally managed to persuade him and his DW to take their first cruise, a Rhine river one, and Ken ( @Ourusualbeach) found them an excellent cabin. I was so happy for them, flights and hotels booked also... Today he was moved to a rehabilitation facility. I'm hoping that with a lot of PT, he will regain, in due time, at least some of his motoric capacities. Extreme left in the pic, during our golden wedding dinner anniversary. On the right side, Alex's 3rd cousin, Miriam, whom I met through him, and to this day she's my BFF.
  2. @DaniDanielle Marietta, my sincere condolences to Charlie and you. Sending positive thoughts to your friend @Sea Dog Greg, so sorry about all you're going through now. At least, Linda is doing better 😘 @aussielozzie18 Hope your DD is on the mend and her recovery will be full. @Luckynana Maryann, "glad" that the break was a clean one, hopefully your youngest GS will make a full recovery. Thanks, Patti. Very interesting finding, and luckily the hiker reported the finding to the Antiquities Authority. Marian, what can I tell you... the mood is not there. The only special meal was a repeat of the acorn squash, same stuffing, but more "decorative".... Thanks, Sue @sgmn. It will be on my list too.... sometime..... The name "Greville" ring a bell, the tiara used by Camila [now, Queen]. @firefly333 Jane, I wouldn't recommend the Termini station neighborhood. It is quite "seedy". Highly recommend this one, very central, walking distance to everything, bar the Vatican. Argentina Residenza Style https://www.argentinastylehotel.com/ @NHProud Judy and Debbie @Sunshine3601 Laser -- when I was doing my annually "pilgrimage" to Germany to be treated by my cousin dentist husband, he always finished my "cleaning" with a laser treatment.
  3. The shrimp filled dumplings on the lower right side are my favorites... I guess I can drop in a few pictures on @dani negreanu mega thread as I saw @bobmaclibertyhad posted some pictures of his trip to NYC with pictures of the US Intrepid last month when he uploaded some mooring line pictures. Harry, you're more than welcomed to "drop a few pic" on "my" thread. And I like your NYC itinerary, with the 9/11 Memorial at the foremost. We were there lastly in Sept. 2017 and the "vessel" was not "operational" then. BTW, DH is a huge fan of Escher, and, while visiting our DS2 in Holland, we went to Escher's museum in Den Hague. Amazing.
  4. Many happy anniversaries today πŸ’• Happy birthday to Sue @sgmn and to Lisa @A&L_Ont And best wishes for your wedding anniversary -- Renee & Mike @ReneeFLL
  5. @Sea Dog Greg, I'll be thinking about your tomorrow. Sending positive thoughts across the pond for a successful and painless surgery 🀞
  6. Not obligated, but I take "pity" on them... I too have difficulties throwing thinks out, so was my late mom, and when she passed, being an only daughter, I had to throw, give away, leave with the house a lot of stuff. Don't want our kids to go through this....
  7. I thought it was Hungarian.... There is a veiled rivalry between the Romanians and Hungarians.... Each people think they're cleverer than the other πŸ˜•
  8. Wow, it was less than 350$ per night, including b'fast when I've booked so far in advance. Still, it was one the priciest rooms we've ever booked. With al that's happened in the world since then, I'm so glad we splurged!!! Sky Park Observation Deck -- https://www.marinabaysands.com/attractions/sands-skypark.html Since we were guests in the hotel, I could see the amazing views from the pool or enter the bar from there with our room card....
  9. Karen @Keksie + 3 , I like the colors (before and after). We have the same colors in our bath, bedroom and living room😁
  10. We've been in Dec. 2018 for one day and 2 nights, before a cruise. I was very lucky to get the cheapest room at MSB, booked more than an year ahead. It gave us access to the pool on the roof, with amazing views, mainly at night. For those who do not "live" there, the only option to see the views is the Roof Bar. I highly recommend it for an once in a life time experience. We had our roll call there, the vast majority of participants didn't "live" in the hotel. For our short stay, we enjoyed the Gardens by the Bay, at night and in the morning. I went to a mall to buy my daily Dead Sea moisturizer, which I forgot home, while DH went to take pictures of a colorful neighborhood (Emerald Hill Road). I wish we had more time to see the Botanical Gardens (always a favorite for us) and the Orchids. OTOH, the oppressive heat and the very high humidity "killed" us...
  11. @StanleyandGus He is beautiful. @Tree_skier Well said, Bonnie πŸ‘ Judy, pls. don't forget our resident English gentleman, Graham @grapau27 😘 @ReneeFLL Renee, Lilo (the 5th element?) kindof reminds me of OB's Jade @Ocean Boy Another beauty/
  12. Thank you so much, Graham. Taking this opportunity to wish HM King Charles III a full recovery. So sad the royal family is going through a bad spell. Also to our other English friends, Sue & Gary @sgmn
