  1. Cunard were contractually obliged to 'look after' QM2 and QV existing passengers' onward travel as their plans had been interrupted. Plus, if UK package rules are the same in the US, those who had a complete Cunard package for joining the ship for the TA as their travel plans had also been interrupted. However much morally it would be seen as doing the right thing, as far as I can see [and I would be more than pleased to be proved incorrect here] they were not obliged to sort out any 'overnighters' with non Cunard pre cruise arrangements as their travel with Cunard hadn't started. I don't follow social media but I suppose unless a breakdown of passengers' travel arrangements, i.e. independent or totally Cunard booked can be made, it's somewhat difficult to wade through all the confusion.
  2. If we hadn't been Cunarding soon, I'd have dragged him on it, subject to us getting a cabin we liked. I can stomach Mary for that length of time and I think this will be a fabulous cruise, and why not boozy, elegantly so of course!😁
  3. Was it a year book? Hardly coffee table worthy. Anyway, it was paper bin collection day so both of us read it, quickly and it went in the bin. 🙂
  4. When my husband heard of this new itinerary, the cynic that he is said 'Booze Cruise'! 😄
  5. Bound to annoy but ours was given a quick read then binned.
  6. As this issue has been discussed on this Cunard board, the judgemental aspect mentioned by at least two of us, refers to this board and not a f2f aspect. With regards to f2f, I completely agree with you. I cannot imagine some of the very strong views espoused on this board over the years with regards to what's proper and what isn't, would ever be said to any individual annoying the affronted person. It isn't passengers' right to be the Dress Police however much they'd like to be.
  7. I wasn't alluding to people watching. Judging sartorial attire has long been a sport on this board, but, as I said, by the few and not the many. 🙂
  8. Being judgemental seems to be a sport for some. They obviously get some enjoyment out of it. Luckily, very few participate. 😄
  9. I got up to payment on the the Meet and Greet but obviously, didn't go further. Interesting it let me get to that stage.
  10. Always. Most definitely, always.👍
  11. Try booking. I just did a dummy run and they were ready to take my payment.
  12. In the past, after check in, we sat in the area for Grills passengers and then someone came to us and escorted us onto the ship. However, last August, we boarded with QG passengers. No cabin differentiation. Not a problem. 🙂 This has been or Vista experience, maybe QM2 will be different?
  13. Have you tried CPS? That's the company we always book with.
  14. It's common practice MT. The only fly in the ointment is on itinerary/ies release date, no transfers are, or weren't for us, allowed and as there are only a couple of cabins available we want to book and which often sell out on release we book within the first minute of release and as a consequence, we still have a cruise booked we have no intention of taking. Never mind, it was booked on board so minimum deposit paid.
  15. Until a 'suit' or an official notification informs us, this is all speculation.
  16. Nothing new. When schedules are announced ahead of open booking, the price of the basic grade of each category is shown, as in this case with the booking going live at the appointed date and hour which in this case, is tomorrow. Admittedly, it's usually listed on the 'main' list of itineraries but as this is a sort of shake down/ 'let's hope the Old Girl works' cruise, it gets preferential stand alone treatment. Good luck to all who hope to book. If she works, it will be a fabulous few days and the price...utter WOW! 🙂
  17. Luckily, all CC sartorial edicts can, or should, be read with a pinch of salt. If a chap cares enough to want to know if his dinner jacket is the righter shade of pale [Procul Harum anyone?] then that's good enough for me. 🙂 As I might have mentioned, faux pas at that level are in the eye of the beholder and not the wearer.😄
  18. A wonderful short cruise for those able to slot it in and absolutely amazing prices. Go for it if you can! 👍
  19. I meant it. I tried it once or twice years ago and found my coffees better then 'its'. 🙂
  20. You could borrow ours.🙂 I always take our instant coffee with us as I prefer it to anything else.
  21. Unfortunately, the shortcomings of some insurance policies, or lack of will help fuel the ire felt by many and I would imagine the small print, often ignored, which lays out Cunard T&Cs might come under closer scrutiny in future. Good PR is always preferable to indifferent or bad, but Cunard will weather this. QV's drydock sojourn is but a distant memory now, as will this be for all those who weren't impacted negatively or like me, are armchair interested onlookers. Their communication skills might need honing although the eight or nine, I've lost count, trips we've had cancelled over the last three years [four if you count Anne next April] were communicated to us reasonably well, and at least one, was last relatively minute. Luckily for us, all our costs were covered due to cancellation terms. Good luck with your expenses claim 👍. It will be interesting to see how you and others get on as it could set a precedent for the future if claims are met.
  22. Good advice. 👍 I would encourage everyone to read up on their travel insurance t&cs and for those who will be out of pocket, I am very sorry. I have no idea what the arrangements would be in the US, but over here if I bought 'a package' [and our agent always puts a Cunard package in place for us if flying out to meet the ship is involved] and we had flown out to pick up our cruise and that subsequent cruise or a portion of it was cancelled, it would be on Cunard [or our agent to do a bit of 'kick assing' for us if needed] to get us to the next part of 'the package', or home. Yes it's more expensive having the whole trip 'packaged' but far cheaper than going it alone and relying on inadequate or no insurance. Isn't hindsight a pain in the rear!!😕
  23. californiagirl Whilst they are wonderful with the disabled and elderly, Cunard is not a care facility and make their limitations with regards to the disabled and potentially infirm, very plain when booking and it’s up to individuals to be aware of this Equally, those t&cs lay down their company obligations in certain circumstances. As I have already indicated, I have total sympathy for those who have had their holiday plans thwarted but whilst Cunard appear to be adhering to their contractual obligations to those who arrived on, and have onward travel on QM2, they seem to have no obligations to those who have yet to start their travel on Cunard. No one expects 'things' to happen but if they do, that's what decent travel insurance is for and as far as onward/rearranged travel is concerned, that is when an excellent travel agent will come into his/her own. I bang my drum re agents all the time and like insurance, it's only when unforeseen circumstances occur, you realise how vital they are, good ones at any rate. It is more than unfortunate when uninsured losses occur and it's very easy for me to say 'suck it up' from the comfort of my sitting room but sadly, it's a hard world out there these days. 😕
  24. Luckily, there's room around a Cunard ship for the Peacocks and the glittering ladies. Both can dazzle. 😄
  25. OOPs, that rules a few folk out then!! 😄 Luckily, sartorial faux pas are in the eye of the beholder and if those of a let's say, flamboyant nature wish to dazzle us with less than sober attire, I for one love their exuberance. Luckily, those chaps who wish to wear their ivory dinner jacket of an evening outside the Tropics have probably mastered the theory that rules are there to be broken although a Northern Lights cruise in Oct/Nov might not be the best time to display such sartorial antipathy! 😁
