  1. Not sure myself what it means other than Blackpool is most definitely not known for its sophistication.
  2. Apparently, Q3s are slightly larger but we couldn't tell the difference. The position merited the 3 rather than 4 as far as we were concerned.
  3. I can't comment on wall soundproofing as we had no problem but as far as the 'stack' is concerned, we were out on deck 11 in all weathers [I'll bring a hot water bottle on any more Northern trips] and experienced NO issues from the funnel at all. That's four weeks worth of deck 11 so far.
  4. No apologies needed. Just making sure us less than spring chicks got our oars in! 😀
  5. My hurdling was superb. The wheelchair got in the way of any attempt by my husband! 🙁
  6. Or buy masks from the Mighty River. Cheap and cheerful although I think we overspent at around £4.50 ea although this IS Cunard! 🙂 Our masks were worn for all of ten mins then consigned to the suitcase never to be worn again.
  7. 'Special needs' is so darned wide a remit now it's very worthwhile reading up on the Cunard website about it all. Sprain a big toe and need a walking aid isn't too far off the mark for filling in the form or at least reading up on it.
  8. I don't know about 'of a certain age' as we're no spring chickens and we had a great time but then, we didn't expect a QV/QE experience and went with the flow. Could have done without the Lift Paralympics but that's a personal issue and no reflection on the ship as a whole.
  9. Def. My daily addition is 'brown sauce' for my bacon and eggs! 🙂 and when I forget, the butler doesn't so I get it anyway. I've stopped asking for jam doughnuts as I started getting them every day with the breakfast order and I am SO weak willed, I ate them! ☹️
  10. must add this was in QG and I have a plate of S.S. as a lunch order occasionally. No idea if it's available elsewhere apart from the Lido/buffet/Kings Court etc. Don't ask, don't get so worth an ask.
  11. Two coils with scrambled eggs on our QA room service menu and you're quite right. A decent amount. No harrumphing [love that word] required. When we breakfasted in the restaurant, if I asked for a plate of S.S., I'd get enough to feed an army. Not asked for it on room service but I guess I could if I wanted.
  12. The majority of passengers ignore the Gala themes but it’s still expected chaps wear 'Gala Wear' which is a dark suit or what we call, Black Tie this side of the pond for the majority of the areas around the ship although, you won't be thrown out of the theatre etc if not in 'Gala Wear' or made to walk the plank if wandering around. Having a few Alaska cruises to our name but the last one being well over a decade ago, I shall be interested in 'Alaska Today'. Have fun and I hope Cunard exceeds expectations. Just don’t expect a plate of smoked salmon to be on the room service breakfast menu. It comes in a 'coil' atop a dollop of scrambled eggs! 😀
  13. No shuttle buses but they do usually put on a 'xxx on your own excursion' to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Can't remember if there was one to Inverness. No need for Liverpool as the terminal is almost central to the city.
  14. Ha, Cunard sisters exlondoner as I have mentioned before although I do like a glass of 'Tea' occasionally. We have had some excellent bin end packages in the past but not come across any recently. We payg fro our drinks. Gives us more choice.
  15. I doubt laziness enters into it. Economics perhaps, yes.
  16. Not an issue according to this web page https://my.cunard.com/en-gb/mycruise/articles/warnings
  17. Hair dryers, along with straighteners and curling tongs are allowed.
  18. I'm one of the 'masses' and our holidays on Cunard always give me an uplift. Hope that's OK with you! 😄
  19. We had our photo taken [Mayflower] in May and July. As a tech idiot, could the software depend on the terminal?
  20. I thought about this. I feel using the QR for more than just ballroom dancing will in fact encourage more folk in time to join in. I'm not saying ball room dancing is too passée for the C21st, it's not but equally, if folk don't feel they can join in the dancing for whatever the reason then it's time to open up the area to a more diverse usage and if that puts off the committed ballroom dancers because they can't have the floor all evening then that's quite frankly, tough. We have passed the QR on QV after visiting the theatre, almost every night. It's a wonder to behold when the floor is full but also one or two dancers does not make for a sparkling atmosphere and can seem soulless at times especially when recorded music is played. On our month, in total, on QA so far, the QR has been vibrant every night. Ballroom dancing interspersed with 'other' dancing, music, singing, visiting acts...a perfect use of the space and if it puts off the more 'seasoned' dancer in favour of those who just want to 'give it a go', then as far as I'm concerned, that's great for the average passenger and yes, will encourage more to join in. The area isn't as large as on the other ships and I accept viewing might be poor for some but the atmosphere is sparklingly good and so a soulless at times but spacious Queens Room v a vibrant smaller area? I wonder which one will encourage passengers to join in.
  21. That is a different issue and nothing to do with QR more diverse entertainment and thus less pure ballroom dancing although just like many things in life, the early bird and all that! 🙂
  22. Intimidating is a word I decided not to use but yes, I find the jargon on CC intimidating and off putting before even daring to set foot on the floor which I haven't post Covid. We have been on cruises where there's been a group of passengers on a ballroom cruise. Wow. Talk about talking over the floor. Everyone pays to enjoy their holiday and if folk want to dance but can't or feel so intimidated that they won't due to overwhelmingly brilliant dancers [who are lovely to watch by the way] taking over the floor, then it's time to change the usage of the QR and for me, that's what happened on QA. Dancers danced, musicians played and duos sang. More diverse a programme than * just pure ballroom type dancing and more enjoyable because of it for many, us included.
