  1. If they have changed the wording on their website it seems like they have made an announcement, The website does not say they are '"testing". This is bad whether it is temporary or permanent. I would be pretty unhappy and expect compensation if I was on either of the two cruise ships where they are "testing" because I have been booking with the expectation that there is no inside smoking or vaping. To friends and family I have always touted Celebrity as being smoke free inside including the casino. Testing is okay but when the test is a change to the air quality we breath that is just wrong. The new CEO should be ashamed of herself. I can forsee a future communication from her announcing vaping in the casino as a customer enhancement. Pathetic.....
  2. Basically the “test” has soured me on Celebrity. Particularly since it is an idiotic change and unnecessary regression. I was impressed with a cruise I took on Oceania which has some kind of smoking room too but I never saw it. Not saying I am finished with Celebrity only that I will be putting them on hiatus and doing some other cruise lines.
  3. I guess the test is over. Some "test" I had pretty much figured it was a done deal. Celebrity management has blown it for no good reason. In have a friend who just got back from a Virgin cruise. She is raving about how great it was. I will probably give them a try.
  4. Your Tuesday and Wednesday game plan looks good. On Thursday for Horseshoe Bay you should take the $7 per person minibus to Horseshoe not the public bus. Gibbs lighthouse is not walkable from Horseshoe. The South Road there has no sidewalks or shoulders. If you want to do Gibbs you can take the public bus from Horseshoe to Gibbs or a taxi and then a bus to Glass Beach. Or maybe skip Gibbs and Glass beach and head back to the Dockyard on a minibus for shopping, National Museum for safety of being close to the ship. Some have experienced public buses passing them by because they were full on the last day and everyone wanting to get back to their ship at the same time.
  5. There are two locations because the Orange Route public ferry docks at the one marked public ferry terminal and NCL’s private ferry docks at Pennos Wharf a little farther away.
  6. I believe the last HAL cruises this century to Bermuda were in 2015 or 2016 on Veendam. I did a couple maybe 2010 or 2011. Might be off a year. My sailing was supposed to do both Hamilton and St. George but HAL added some cabins aft after announcing that itinerary and with the increased draft the Veendam could not do St. George’s. Oops.
  7. I agree. I have been over 15 times and even three days were not enough. My favorite sailings were on ships that did both Hamilton and St. George on Celebrity, Princess, Azamara and Oceania. but unfortunately there are only a handful of sailings now that do both Hamilton and St. George or even Hamilton. I did the HAL sailings that only did Hamiltion, not as good as the Hamilton and St. George itineraries but HAL is long gone from Bermuda.
  8. More like 90 minutes on a good day. I would not do it. Customs and security, international flight. I would book a hotel in London and leave the next day.
  9. Double occupancy was paid if there was a second passenger. It does not matter who paid but OP says they paid for the second passenger.
  10. You get double points. You don’t have to call ahead of time. They will refund taxes, port fees and any excursion, internet fees paid if they don’t show. You may have to call them if your points don’t show. Sometimes when I have booked solo I have had to call to get the points applied.
  11. Thank you for this info. I have been on HAL five times but not for a while. I sailed on two of the ships on that list and when I sailed they had smoking in the casino. HAL is nearly equivalent in my opinion to Celebrity. I didn't know about the six ships. Definitly on my radar again.
  12. The good thing about your Oceania itinerary, Hamilton and St. George is that you don't need shore excursions. One thing you might consider is an afternoon tea at the Hamiltion Princess. Bermuda is not as accessible as the US. A tour is a great idea but you will have to find out if they can accomodate her mobility devices. I always recommend Heidi Cowan's https://www.bermudabyways.com/tours/ but you would have to email her and see if she can accomodate your particular needs. Same with any other taxi driver or tour operator in Bermuda, you would need to do that.
  13. Maybe. When everyone is expecting no more is about the time they drop another PUP opportunity. Honestly I am pretty bored by them now but they don’t matter to me as I won’t be getting to Zenith as most of my future cruises won’t be on a vapish cruise line.
  14. Current Vehicles the company that has Twizy rentals now has side by side 2 seaters for rent. There are also other rental companies with side by side seating for 2. That said I am only taking taxis and ferries when visiting Bermuda.
  15. Marketing will spin it as an enhancement.
  16. You can buy TAG watches at Walmart. No reason to buy them in the Caribbean or on a cruise ship and worry about customs. Watch snobs are not a new category. They are an old category. A TAG will lose value as soon as it is sold. A Rolex will increase in value over time even if the TAG keeps better time.
  17. Take the Celebrity excursion to Tulum. They will have a contracted ferry that picks you up at the pier and then a bus from Tulum.
  18. I advise taking a ship’s excursion to any of the Mayan ruins. It takes a long time to get to them because of their distance. You don’t want to miss the ship. You will only have a short time at the ruins if you do them from Cozumel on a cruise itinerary. The best way to see them is not from a cruise ship itinerary but from staying on the mainland. I did Tulum from a cruise itinerary and we didn’t have a lot of time. I did it later from the mainland and we had a much better experience. I have also done Coba and Chicken Itza from staying on the mainland and I can’t imagine it would be a great experience from Cozumel.
  19. The port is Cozumel so most cruise passengers don’t take the vomit ferries to Playa Del Carmen. Most stay on the island. So the ferries can handle whoever takes them. Ships don’t tender to Playa Del Carmen the port is Cozumel. Ship sponsored excursions to the mainland are usually on ship contracted boats from whichever of the 3 cruise terminals on Coz the ship docks at. If you want to go to Playa on your own should be no problem. Have you been to Playa? It is the center of a region with many all inclusive resorts. It is way more crowded than Cozumel with nine ships.
  20. Somewhat higher than Seiko but a lot lower than Patek. If you like TAG certainly you should buy, they are a popular brand but it does not an upper level luxury brand. As soon as you put it on your wrist it will lose value.
  21. It is walkable. Best way is to take a right on to Water St. which is closed to vehicle traffic then probably make a left at post office to go up to York St.
  22. The Bermuda Fudge Company that has stand in the Dockyard also has rum cakes now but not the same ones as the Glassblowing/cake store. The fudge is good but I have not had their cakes.
  23. That is a change. Have you compared the price of booking through Viator to the actual tour company?
