  1. Sorry to hear about Buddy. The tour is long but doesn't she still include lunch? It is pretty easy to do a private taxi tour with a driver who has had a Blue Flag guide course. You can pre arrange or find drivers at the port. They have a 3 hour minimium and youb can direct them to what you intersted in. I don't make recommendations any more because the drivers I knew were good have died or retired. There are plenty of replacements but I don't want to say a name about a driver I know nothing about.
  2. People have figured out if that you can't stop them so they have become chair hogs themselves. If you can't beat them join them.
  3. Probably me. I don't bully anyone but if the chair has been empty 20 minutes I put the stuff on a table and move the chair 10 feet. They come back two hours later and look confused. 🤗
  4. You have to get up at 7:00 am to get a chair on Carnival. Does not matter I don't book that crude cruise line anymore.
  5. Sherlock Holmes was a fictional charector and your message is too.
  6. Not going to happen. Royal Caribbean is not going to violate the law.
  7. Yes, I know that. I have Pre Check through Global Entry. The person I was replying to I though was saying that many probably don't have Global Entry which is true. But many do have Pre Check. Most who have Pre Check probably don't have Global Entry.
  8. When I book I do research. That is why I have never booked Royal Caribbean to Alaska and never out of Seattle. You are going to have a limited itinerary. Royal does not do Glacier Bay so that should tell you something. But the idea they didn’t get closer for no reason is preposterous.
  9. Another armchair Captain. No reason LOL. I guess they didn't get closer for No reason, it was just a whim. Very logical thinking. NOT. The fact that a Holland American ship passed means nothing as ships are of different sizes and drafts and smaller ships can go where larger ships can not.
  10. Global Entry is only for going through customs and immigration. Security is TSA. A lot of people have TSA Pre Check.
  11. As others have mentioned you can’t board at Port Canaveral because of the PVSA. You have 24 hours to cancel so you can still book a day ahead. If you stick with that flight of course you probably will make it. Not a risk a savvy traveler would take but good luck.
  12. Look at a map. A hint is that the name of EWR airport is Newark Liberty Airport and the port is named Cape Liberty. Definitly leave a day early.
  13. I agree with you. Change could occur but there is no political will to do it. There is also no economic reason to change the status quo for the PVSA. There was the unique Alaska situation during Covid which shows that it could be changed for economic and political reasons but there was no political and economic reason to make it permanent. And I don't see most cruise passengers or most US citizens demanding a change either. We have a lot of obsolete law on the regulations that stay on the books for years and I don't see any momentum to change the PVSA.
  14. Trucking companies can and do use foreign drivers. They have to have a certain type of visa. They can drive with their foreign drivers license.
  15. I don't buy your argument that US safety standards and training are better. Also quantity of regulations does not make them better. In any case the US has input on the international regulations.
  16. So above you are back to your protectionist argument. But the foreign cruise ships are operating anyway with foreign built ships they just have to make a foreign stop. How has that helped US workers or shipbuilders? Or safety? Ships are not built in the US and the crews are foreign. None of the major cruise lines operate under a US flag either calling at US ports or operating at international ports.
  17. But the foriegn flagged vessels that supposedly are not under stricter safety are operating out of US ports anyway. Foriegn built vessels with foreign crews. The safety rules are needed but the PVSA cabatoge rules are not. The idea that ships built in Europe or crewed international are not as safe is an exceptionalism not borne out by reality. There absolutely need to be safety regulations and crew training standards but the PVSA cabatoge rules are not needed for that.
  18. It is protectionism for US industry.
  19. You can’t. The “official” Meet and Mingles on Royal Caribbean are on hiatus. There can still be unofficial meets. Check the Roll Call for your sailing.
  20. I would not book a coach seat on any long distance Amtrak train. You won't get much sleep with kids running around and people getting on and off. Roomettes are worth it. Also expect delays as the frieght railroads don't treat Amtrak well.
  21. I feel the same way. Some seem to think they are being cheated by not getting the drink the first evening that was never a Captains Club benefit. They are not owed that drink. Celebrity can change the whole loyalty program tomorow either adding a first night drink or taking away the happy hour altogether. That won't change my booking decisions. Those free drinks are nothing to write home about. I prefer premium drinks. Single malt scotch for example. When I use the vouchers I use them on Heinekin.
  22. Has nothing to do with Labadee. I hate to tell you if you don't know but missionaries have an adgenda and locals in many countries don't like them. Many do good work but some have done bad things.
  23. Revolutionized means complete new cabins. The key cards are now tap which is better and you can drop off your bags before the cabin is ready. Bathrooms are all plastic so no grout for them to clean. Added USB A outlets already obsolete. Added cabins so more crowded. The buffet has been redone with better placement of food stations so you don't have to line up behind people getting types of food you are not interested in. The redone buffet and tap keycards and dropping off the bags is are the only positive of revolutionized ships. Oh and I like the new decor better.
  24. Labadee is not the streets of Haiti. Nothing like them. I can't wait to go back to Labadee. There are a lot of thugs with guns in the US too. Mass shootings every week.I have relatives in Canada who are afraid visit the US.
