  1. We carry insulated cups. (Yeti 30 oz.) with reusable plastic straws. We fill them with ice and water from the Lido. We do order cans of water each night from one of the bars. We keep them in the fridge.
  2. By "small," it's a normal 12 ounce can. There are larger, 16 ounce aluminum ca-bottles, but they're not part of the beverage package. Plastic bottles (and straws that work well) aren't available.
  3. Up until just recently, you could print your boarding pass before the bar code was available. They recently made it so that boarding passes did not show up until they had bar codes.
  4. The problem, as I understand it, was that the bar codes were missing from entire sailings. A handful of people needing to have their boarding pass printed isn't a big deal. However, if it's everyone, that would be a mess. The little handheld printers they use for boarding passes at the port are not super speedy, nor do they have big rolls of paper.
  5. It can vary by ship, depending on the itinerary. Consider the two times to be a guideline, but they may vary a little once you are on board. They'll be constant for the whole trip and the entertainment schedules coordinate with the two fixed dining times. We're a late, fixed dining people by nature. (Technically called Main Upper seating.) It's been as early as 7:00 and as late as 8:15 over the years. I don't recall anything 8:00 or later in a couple of decades though.
  6. Then, no. You can buy OBC and use it in the casino. We do it often. "Gifted" or comp OBC like yours cannot be used in the casino.
  7. You have to do it through Ship Services. There's no "easy way" because tables that size are not the norm. The largest regular tables are for 6.
  8. Because it's an open area, I've never even smelled smoke by the aft pool. However, if you are really sensitive to smoke, you may want to rethink the location. When the ship is underway, I would think that the wind would take care of things.
  9. Thanks, Rich! If it stays that way until we sail in March, it's quite the deal.
  10. Usually, yes. Most often the desserts.
  11. That's the rate. Laundry prices are highest in Europe.
  12. It's entirely possible that you already covered this in your live from thread, but I am going to take the lazy way out and just ask. For the new Pinnacle Grill lunch menu that you posted: What's the price? Thank you in advance.
  13. Yes. No problem. Just tell them that you want to pay corkage. If you are buying wine to take home, they'll store it for you.
  14. Call in to HAL general reservations. Ask them to add the birthday celebration special services item on the correct day. It's the free item.
  15. Just let your TA or PCC know about your celebration.
  16. You can request one at no charge a. Do it ahead of time and it will be in your room.
  17. It should always be $55/day. It hasn't changed in a long time.
  18. The takeaway here is that the headline is wrong. Reacting to the headlines, hackles go up and knickers twist. The concensus is that we'd be happier if the prohibited items list read: Electrical devices such as small fans with surge protectors, multi plug box outlets with surge protectors/adaptors with surge protectors, power strips with surge protectors /extension cords with surge protectors. Because unless someone beats us over the head with surge protectors, it's not going to sink in.
  19. The prohibited items match what I posted about the surge protection. URL: https://www.hollandamerica.com/en/us/faq/cruise-planning/packaging-and-luggage/prohibited-items Electrical devices such as small fans, multi plug box outlets/adaptors, power strips/extension cords with surge protectors The with surge protectors modifies all the list items that proceed it. (I paid attention in English class. I can even spell!) For example, if I wrote, "We enjoy traveling, dining and drinking with friends," you would not assume that we did did not like the first two things with friends, would you? (If you said, "Why yes, POA1 only likes to drink with friends. He prefers travel and eating alone." You would be misreading the sentence. Also, your elementary school teachers who tried to teach you grammar would be sad.)
  20. As always, I am delighted to see everyone up in arms, in a lather, panties in a bunch, for no apparent reason. 😁 From Know Before You Go: Electrical devices such as small fans, power strips, multi plug box outlets/ adaptors, and extension cords without surge protectors are allowed onboard when used with proper caution. https://www.hollandamerica.com/en/us/plan-a-cruise/get-ready-for-your-cruise/faq/know-before-you-go
  21. I'm pretty sure it's the surge protector part that's prohibited. I have a 2:1 short 3 prong, plain splitter that I have been carrying for decades. I also have a 6 USB charging block and some European adapters Unless you are on the Volendam or the Zaandam, you're probably going to be fine outlet-wise. The ship's USB outlets are type A, so you'll want device cords that have the original flat plug on one end and whatever your device needs on the other.
  22. Adding HIA now should give you the HIA+ version which would give you crew appreciation, premium Wi-Fi & the Elite Beverage Package. It's a much better deal than waiting until later. It's the same price either way. You can add it up until about 3 or 4 days before sailing. That's when pre purchased items get transmitted to the ship. It won't be the plus version then though.
