  1. Not me, I detest handing off my personal belongings. I'd rather do it myself. It's like asking someone to come in and brush my teeth for me.
  2. Not for nothin' but ... 2 days is 48 hours. Carry on.
  3. When you said this: "...A few minutes later two officers, I could not tell who they were from where I was standing, but they told our leader that they don’t attend the meetings any longer..." That was the part when they ... stated it. Fun use of the word "blithely, though albeit incongruously used.
  4. Princess does that identical UK Cruise except they include Liverpool, Glasgow and Paris. We did it on Royal 2 years ago, it was awesome. I wouldn't miss Liverpool unless you've been already.
  5. This is a recent shot of a balcony stateroom on Sun showing the TV monitor. It was posted in 2019 so it was after the drydock refurbs. They definately look accessible. But I don't think anyone can tell you whether a port is going to be usable or not unless they just came from the stateroom you're going to be in.
  6. Almost every flatscreen tv they make these days usually has some sort of HDMI port in the back or along the side. I’ve always known them to just be device inputs though, and the outputs are usually in the form of a USB or S-video cable port. They make S-to-HDMI adapters. But it sounds like he has a rig he’s already familiar with.
  7. I remember once we took two kitchen tall bags jammed full of laundry ( because we didn’t know how to pack then ) to a local laundry in Genoa and ended up with a $24 bill. But I mean it was everything that didn’t require dry cleaning. There may not be a place close to port in every port of call. But it’s worth a quick google if you’ve given yourself time to plan ahead. Of course then there’s the matter of how you get there. Can you walk? Or is it worth the extra 11€ Cab Fare to get it there and back. Did I mention, we cleaned everything?
  8. It would if you were trying to pretend not to know the difference between outoftowners, and aborigine natives.
  9. The ride from LHR to the pier in Southampton wasn’t too bad. But going back when you have a flight to catch was a little hair-raising for me. I’ve always wanted to see the white sands of Dover.
  10. This is kind of cool. Norwegian has donated a waterfront plot it had tucked away in Juneau AK to a native owned development corporation to build a brand new pier and related infrastructure. True, NCL has secured future preferential access to it in the future. But this is land and potential wealth that goes back to the original owners. And when they say “native” they mean aboriginal. Because lets face it, every white guy that left Howell, Michigan in the 70s to help build the Alaskan pipeline now lords over an entire household of “natives” technically speaking. https://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/28097-norwegian-cruise-line-donates-alaska-land-in-for-new-pier-development.html
  11. eh? People drive this distance to work every single day. Both ways!
  12. We had a big family, and my parents loved to entertain. So my earliest, most pleasant memories are being sent to bed at 8 or so and listening to the fun just 20 feet away into the night. If I wanted to sleep, I slept. So I never had an issue with accidentally booking a room over casino, or under the cocktail lounge. It just reminds me of childhood years. I feel lucky that way, because clearly it’s not a popular environment for most people.
  13. Well the only thing I buy on board is water, gourmet coffee and the specialty restaurants cover charges. I don’t even buy their poorly posed photos. I come home with 5000 pictures everytime we leave the house. Why do I need portraits where they pose us to look like American Gothic? And they do NOT like it when you try to get creative. I had a photographer go caustic on me just because I told him to shoot us on the stairway looking in two different direction, like it was capturing a spontaneous moment. He wasn’t getting paid enough for spontaneity apparently. So no more of those pricey things.
  14. “Gee, I tried to get dinner and they go and CHARGE me for it…” You would not be the guy at the dinner table asking everyone to let you get the check.
  15. On a side note: I am crushed to learn I won’t be getting a towel animal.
  16. she doesn’t sail til April. She could just cancel and get all of her money back and book something she likes better. So NCL doesn’t have anyone over a barrel as you seem to want everyone to think.
  17. Yeah I thought these were a dumb idea. You get a ride and a selfie stick. Bleh. The stop and go bus tickets are worth more than that hoohah.
  18. Ships are no longer permitted into the Lagoon. But they can still tie off at Marghera Commercial Port outside Venice and shuttle in with smaller boats. https://amp.theguardian.com/world/2022/jul/25/cruise-passengers-shuttled-into-venice-by-motor-boat-to-dodge-big-ships-ban
  19. Wait, Norwegian paid $1295 and when you cancelled your flight they got $1295 back? Why, that’s highway robbery. Where do I go to get in on that profit making deal?! I could take the extra money and go on a cruise!
  20. Honestly, if I had to guess I would say it had almost everything to do with rapport I developed with the customer service person before I got to my request. She was very pleasant and it made her easy to talk to. When someone in service says “we don’t do that” I believe they’re really saying “I won’t do that because I’m not going to spend that much time on this issue.” They have more latitude than they let on sometimes.
  21. I’m willing to bet that 98% of the posters here know the deal on Civitavecchia and Livorno. But when you book your cruise and you don’t recognize a name, just look it up on Google Earth and have a look around. You’ll be able to peruse every empty chemical barrel and shipwreck junkyard and ascertain exactly how far it is from your destination.
  22. Yeah they should probably buy a watch, eh? To be on the safe side? Or a smartphone with a time display. Adults.
