  1. if I had a MSC account, I would
  2. I submitted a status match with MSC about 6 weeks ago. I have not heard anything. I've seen posts here saying the voyager club can be a pain to deal with and to just keep hounding them. I've sent in several emails asking for a status on my request, but haven't heard anything. I decided I would just re-submit, but I keep getting an error message on the page that simply says the match request didn't go thru. I've been assuming it was a glitch on the site. So I finally went ahead and booked my first cruise with MSC. I got an email today with info about the cruise, it says I'm a gold level with 4300 points. I guess this means my status match is actually done. would have been nice to have been notified
  3. good explanation, except the $50 is applied to your account as refundable. To the OP, yes, you have it correct, provided you book the excursions onboard. I do this to convert my stockholder credit to refundable and I cash out the $100 at the end of the cruise
  4. I would suggest you looking to cruise first certs. You don't have to worry about waiting for the double up on any cabin promo. The $500 CF sales come around much more often then the double up on any cabin promo
  5. You can use them on the balcony cabin, but you'd be saving less money than if you used two regular CN certs. The haven certificates will cost you more money
  6. I prefer the bigger/newer ships. the old ships with the smaller crowds tend to be more boring at night.
  7. I just purchased a CN today resale. I'm waiting for the transfer to complete. Once it does, I'll try to add it to my January reservation. I'll let you know how it goes. the current promo ends next Tuesday, so there is plenty of time for the transfer to complete
  8. wow. surprising to hear about all the unexpected upgrades. Just booked my first MSC cruise and booked a OV GTY. Let's see if I get lucky.....my cruise is in June. How close to sailing do they usually assign cabins?
  9. I'm looking forward to it. The only thing that I probably won't get used to is the assigned/set dining. That, and no cigar lounge. But neither of those will ruin my vacation
  10. yeah, I'm a NCL transplant. I have this free OV for a 10 day cruise, and since I don't even have to pay taxes and port fees, I figured why not. things are changing for the worse over at NCL, so I'm giving other lines a look see
  11. yes, I'm on there. Just haven't been able to find anything.
  12. I don't think the casino drink package will work on island. which is ok, I have $400 OBC that I have to spend anyway, so I can just charge drinks while I'm on the island. But it would be nice to walk off with a couple of starters 🙂
  13. yes, I've been trying to buy another CN to add to my January sailing, but can't find any on the site that sells them at cost. I'll break down and buy one from ebay this weekend if all else fails. I'll pay more than cost, but will still save a little $$$
  14. Hello. Anyone know if the casino is open while docked at Ocean Cay. I'm going to be there three days on my cruise, including an overnight. Also, are you allowed to carry drinks (alcoholic) off the ship there?
  15. I've never stayed on the Haven, but also never have a problem going to my room and dropping off my luggage. I used to drop it off in the storage area (casino, Asian restaurant) until I discovered I can just take it to my room. I just sit it in the closet to make sure it's not in the way. I just have to remember to take out a cigar, my cutter, and matches so I can have a smoke after getting lunch
  16. wow. you've never seen the flier? that's surprising. Of my 8 cruises, I would say I've received the flyer on at least half of them. I prefer the bigger ships, so the chances are higher given more people and luggage
  17. yes, they just became available in January.
  18. As a jade player, I lost free drinks. it sucks, but I'm not ready to write off NCL because of it. That being said, I am give MSC and Carnival a try on my next two cruises. All of my previous 8 cruises have been with NCL. Maybe I'll be impressed enough to make the switch permanent, maybe not. Especially with MSC since they don't even charge port fees and taxes for their comp cruise. And it doesn't look like anyone else charges the mysterious admin fee. I do have a NCL cruise booked for next year and I just went ahead and added the drink package. I had never paid $500 for a NCL cruise before (including service charges). Now it will be $150 - $200 more. Still a great deal
  19. they have solo cabins on all the ships, including the ones with studio cabins
  20. I'm hoping this is the case. although I like to arrive at the port around Noon and I'm also platinum, so I should find a nice short check in line either way. I've just become used to the CAS line being totally empty when I show up
  21. just booked my next cruise. This will be the first time I'll pay more than $500 for a cruise since I'm now taking the FAS drink package. ahhhh, first world problems 🤣
  22. what do you mean? No, I end up with $100 refundable OBC rather than $100 non-refundable. I actually don't go on any of the excursions
  23. A question I have is will I still be able to use the CAS check-in line? I'm not pearl, never been anything other than Jade, which doesn't exist anymore. I'd be interested in reading about everyone's experiences now that the changes have been implemented. My next NCL cruise is not until next January.
  24. on my last few cruises, I've done this to "launder :)" my OBC and cashed out the $100 at the end of the cruise. I've been lucky to have enough excursions $50 and below for this to work
