  1. Definitely do what is best for you. I can afford to cruise, but I have used my insurance several times. Sickness onboard a 48 day cruise, missed trains, canceled flights, and a big $12,000 refund for a covid cancellation, etc. I have collected far more than I have paid. Could I have afforded all of that, absolutely, but was I happy to have gotten the check after the claim, absolutely. Those evacuations can cost over $100,000. I would not be very happy about that, considering you are probably very, very sick on top of that and if you pass, then your family is left with that big bill. You are probably right that won't happen to you, but it only takes that one time.
  2. Definitely weird. I wanted to meet you so much!!! But it sounds like you had a great time.
  3. Thanks for the review! I agree 100% it was a cruise of a lifetime! Loved it. I literally have nothing to complain about at all. Loved every thing about it and Cole really is an amazing CD,he made it very fun. I was sorry I didn't get to meet most of the people I have followed on CC for years! I was so excited when I booked and saw all the names!! But, the whole CC meet and greet thing with sending email, etc. And the person who wanted so much praise for doing so much for us..........ugh. I just couldn't make myself go. But maybe some other time all the "famous CC names" will be onboard a cruise we take in the future.
  4. We were on the Discovery and I agree that it could not have been better. Princess did an amazing job trying to make everything perfect and they did IMO. Besides being positioned perfectly to see the eclipse, they went all out with extras......solar eclipse cookies, solar eclipse coins, special enrichment seminars and even offering sun screen and drinks. All the officiers around the ship making sure everything went well during the eclipse. They allowed all the employees a chance to see the eclipse. One of the better cruises for us (cruise wise) and a once in a lifetime experience. PS, we saw eclipse in 2017 in Nebraska and it did not hold a candle to this experience. I even cried a bit, it was that amazing.
  5. We had many repeat questions and it is amazing how bad we did each time, haha. But we just play for fun. But, sadly now that everyone has the internet, so many people are cheating........all for a princess coaster. That to me is very, very sad. I take losing as the fun part of not knowing that much trivia, but to lose to cheaters boils my blood.
  6. Thanks for all the information! On the eclipse cruise with you!
  7. Also there are several medications that cause aggressive bone loss in the mouth. If the person was on any of these, the implant probably would have failed soon anyway. Having been in dentistry for over 32 years, I can tell you, very few of these cases are ever won or compensated. I have even testified on a few cases. I highly doubt they will or should receive anything.
  8. Sounds like the implant was not secured properly in healthy bone. Or they possibly didn't wait long enough for the bone graft to attach to the bone. IMO, I think the implant would have failed soon. Get another periodontist or at least a second opinion. Yes, I was a dental professional for over 32 years. EDIT: I just saw that the implant had been in place for 6 years, so not the vault of the Dentist or specialist who placed the implant.
  9. There is and we do use it at night, but not usually when we are awake.
  10. We had DND on and a female steward entered when my husband was in undies! We were not happy. One knock, she entered before we even had a chance to move one inch to the door.
  11. Our main room steward was awesome and did all that for the first 20-24 days. It was only after our main steward got covid and we got a replacement that all the crazy things starting happening. We also don't want 2x service and we would even be fine with a few times a week, but they insisted, even when told not to, they still did.
  12. Yes, I wondered about that. Why didn't she know we were in the room with the Medallion showing we were? I just think the person who replaced our regular room steward had no experience. It didn't look like she did. There was so much covid onboard I am sure they were really stretched thin and everyone was helping in all areas. We also deadbolt our room at night, but not usually until bedtime. But we will in the future. Thanks for the reminder.
  13. Yep. Once while we were dressing.
  14. We were cleaning our room like crazy every time after the steward was in there, everything got wiped. But, our "main" steward disappeared about a week before the end of the cruise, about day 20-23 (when all the tables appeared and the captains letter was sent out. I am sure she had covid. And the replacement had really bad hygiene procedures. She would empty trash with gloves on, never change the gloves and then put ice in the bucket with the same dirty clothes from someone elses trash!!!. It was very bad, so that is why I put do not disturb, but she would still enter the room. So I made a sign that said do not enter and spoke with her that we just wanted our privacy. She still would come in. Anyway, like you said, just do the best we can and cross our fingers.
  15. I was a dental hygienist for 32 years and I am very aware of washing my hands, not touching my face, etc, very, very aware. We wore N95 when ever around others, ate outside or on our balcony, etc. On our 30 day last September, I will even be bold enough to say that I was literally one of the best "covid avoiders" on board. But, our whole hall had tables about a week before the cruise ended(notes from the captain saying about high covid rates, etc) and I did put up a sign for the room steward not to enter (they still did unfortunately) and I think that is how we got covid on the last day of the cruise. It was so hard to think we had literally done everything possible and still got covid.
  16. Sorry to hear this. Sending healing vibes your way.
  17. I wonder if you are on a B2B cruise if you have to activate Ocean Now each segment?
  18. So if I get sick on a cruise, I will have to pay for room service? Wouldn't that just encourage people to go out and pass along their germs to others???
  19. We also have the same number, I keep getting I exceeded limit.....what's the secret?
  20. Poor Staff, just another thing for them to be yelled at for.
  21. Ever since they started the bid for cabin option, all the regular options are taken away.....booooooo
