Delivering a Webcast while onboard
Fontaid replied to CarolGS's topic in Royal Caribbean International
If you are sailing after the new Starlink internet service is active on the ship, then he shouldn't have problems at any point during the cruise. Based on internet speeds that people have tested so far, Starlink is a game changer. Unfortunately, it's been difficult to find out when individual ships will have Starlink fully functional. Also, a few ships may have some "older" routers, switches, etc. and may not handle the increased bandwidth as well until they upgrade all of that equipment. If Liberty is upgraded to Starlink, then after you're on the ship, find the location where he plans to do the webcast. Check it out and make sure that location has adequate service. Then, go find a back up location to do the webcast - just in case the primary isn't working properly the day of the webcast. I suggest watching all of the Liberty threads and asking current passengers/Guest Services, etc. what the word is on when Liberty will be upgraded to Starlink. I have not seen any announcements on individual ships. It's all been rumor. The most recent formal announcement I've seen was that RC stated that the fleet will be converted by the end of 1Q2023. If your sailing is before the Liberty is upgraded, forget what I just said π€£ -
Greg, So glad to hear that your injury wasn't more severe, but a shoulder separation can be very painful, as you have experienced. If your primary physician recommended physical therapy (PT), heed his recommendation. Doing the PT may keep you from having limited range of motion in that shoulder later. The Greater Houston area (that includes Galveston) is a really good place to be if you need any type of medical attention... although I will say you can easily get lost in the Medical Center area in Houston trying to get where you're going. Also, delighted to hear you found the Beaver nuggets. Buc-ee's has 4 or 5 flavors plus they have 3 flavors of Nug-ees (think Nuggets but with cheese flavoring) , so you'll have to go back and try them all! If you get tired of the Beaver Nuggets, they have about 30 flavors of fudge. I've tried a few - delicious, but can be hard on your waistline. Besides it'll take you another couple of stops to look through the entire store! Just consider these some things to do and eat on your Texas Buc-ee's bucket list. One thing your probably didn't notice - Buc-ee's doesn't allow 18 wheelers! It makes it easier on the cars, but sometimes the parking lot (and up to 120 gas pumps) looks like rush hour in a city. Best regards, Dave

@Ozark_KidHow long did your dinner at Samba Grill take? -
Greg, I thoroughly enjoyed joining you on your cruise this week... well except for that one little accident you had with your shoulder. Hopefully, your Primary Physician will not find anything else. Just remember water in = water out. I'm on diuretics too. I have to plan to stop about every 60 - 90 minutes while driving, so... plan ahead! Safe travels, my friend. Best regards, Dave

Greg, You already had your first Kraken... a Kraken your collarbone... π Sorry, I couldn't resist... but truly sorry to hear about your accident... enjoy your cruise... and particularly your own private bathroom! Speaking of archaic Texas liquor laws... bars & restaurants cannot serve beer or alcohol on Sundays before noon... unless it is accompanied by food between 10 am and noon. A bar inside a hotel can serve alcohol anytime (with the proper permit). I'm not sure where cruise ships fit inside these laws. But, you know Texas will get their state alcohol taxes (look for the TABC stamp on every bottle the ship serves inside the 12 mile limit). Just remember, we don't have a state income tax. We have to fill the coffers in some way.

Greg, I know Buc-ee's is big, but it appears you missed Buc-ee's Beaver nuggets. Otherwise you would have mentioned them. Don't forget to get some on the way home! Typically, they're near the check out counter in the middle of the store. They have 7 or 8 flavors. They're addictive. But first, enjoy your cruise!!!

"LIVE" from Oasis of the Seas B2B - September 11, 2022
Fontaid replied to Radio's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Radio, Thanks for the great posts and for taking us along. This is my first time following you, but certainly won't be the last. The past two weeks went by very quickly. Your reports have been quite informative and will help in planning my future cruise. As good as your posts are (and they really are excellent), I can only imagine how much better they will be once Starlink is activated and you can post videos easily. Safe travels my friend... Until next time... Dave -
Unlimited Dining Package - Giovanni's lunch
Fontaid replied to sheezsmith's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Not only yes, but you can get really creative. Think "unlimited." For dinner go to Izumi for sushi appetizers, then head to Chops for dinner, and finish it off at Playmakers with a Campfire Cookie for dessert. Then head to your cabin for some antacid.... See how many days you can keep that up! π€£ -
Try the Galapagos Islands on the Celebrity Xpedition. It's a unique cruise that Celebrity does right in so many ways.

That's the one message from the Concierge I will be sad to see on our cruise. A big Thank You for posting all of the Cruise Compasses, the menus, particularly for CK, and the photos. They have been very helpful in planning our upcoming adventure on the Allure. I hope you enjoyed your cruise as much as we have. Well done! Have a safe and uneventful trip home.

@niksmom630 Thanks so much for your review. I loved your perspective. My wife and I have booked a GS on Deck 6 to celebrate our 50th anniversary next year. Since all the GSs are stacked near the rear elevators, it was just a choice of which deck (and make sure we didn't have a connecting cabin). We chose Deck 6 since it's only 2 decks up to CP and 3 of the specialty restaurants; we're on the same deck as the Boardwalk along with its attractions and the AquaTheatre, then only 1 deck down to the Promenade and 2 decks down to the "entertainment" area. We can take the stairs to all those venues. We're going to need to take the rear elevators to get to SL and CK... unless we "royal up" to a CLS. But, at our age, the stairs in the CLS could become problematic over the course of the week, not to mention having to take the rear elevators to go down to most other venues. Many thanks! Dave

Who still decorates their cabin and their cabin door?
Fontaid replied to rrraydon's topic in Royal Caribbean International
You should include 2 envelopes on your door - 1 to help pay for your daughter's college expenses and 1 to help pay for your next cruise - because there's no money in your daughter's envelope... lol. -
The overall solution seems to be pretty simple and relatively cheap. Just require a gyro stabilizer on dishes located on moving platforms like cruise ships (or even much smaller boats). The politics may be more difficult though.

Favorite/Least favorite WJ buffet items?

Just remember... Jell-o comes in colors, not in flavors! That tells you all you need to know. -
Indy 3 Day - Unlimited Dining Experience π·
Fontaid replied to John&LaLa's topic in Royal Caribbean International
From what I've read... you could go to Izumi for sushi for appetizers, then Chops for the main part of your dinner, and then hit up Playmakers for a cookie or a sundae for dessert... all in one evening. Next evening... mix and match other restaurants. Why just go to one restaurant for dinner? After all, it is UDP. That's what Benny would do... errr.. DID!!! and still DOES.... He even does it without UDP. He'll go to Windjammer for appetizers, then hit MDR for more appetizers and the main course(s) - I never saw him with less than 2, and then hit somewhere else for dessert(s). Geez... I think I gained weight following him virtually.
