Double check . Lyft  at one time was official ride service in partnership with the Port of Galveston . Which meant  only  Lyft could enter  “inside” access  premises of terminals and drop off and pick up  . Uber was not allowed .

    PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK

I plan to use Lyft for Hobby to Harbor House the day prior to cruise, will use Carnival transport from terminal to Hobby after cruise. Kinda leery about assuming Lyft will be available at terminal.

  2. Third time's a charm! I emailed again stating that I sail Monday and would like to have the information on hand when boarding. Received a reply within the hour. It just eases my mind having a confirmation, especially the free drinks all over the ship part! First time I've gotten that, it's usually just in the casino.

Uber and Lyft haven't been a problem in general use, but I don't know of anyone that has taken one from Houston to Galveston. I live in Houston and went to Galveston this weekend, and I will say traffic has been really bad heading south on the weekends. Vista was loading up when we left Galveston after lunch and it didn't look crowded around the port. Then we got to the highway to head north off the island and noticed a wreck had traffic backed up a few miles all the way to the mainland. Then further north road construction had traffic backed up a few more miles again. That 50 minute drive from Hobby to Galveston was probably closer to 2hr 15min. And IAH to the port was probably 2hr 45min.  My guess is you'd might want to plan a shuttle. Because even though there are Uber drivers, they may not want to take that drive. Again, this should only apply to weekends this summer.

P.S. We ate lunch at Nick's right there at Gaido's.

Do you think Lyft would be more available and reasonable at Hobby to Galveston in October?

Is anyone dealing with Carnival "Notice of Cabin Change" recently?

We had paid to "choose our own" room which was a quiet out-of-the-way porthole room.

As of this past Tuesday via a Carnival email, our room assignment was changed to a regular interior room that shares a wall with the IMAX screen. It is technically the same room category, but probably the last room we would have chosen on our own.

I reached out to both the Carnival Rep that made our original booking and the Rep from whose email account the room change notice was generated. No response from either as of this posting (on Friday).

Not sure if we are just s out of luck, or if we might have a chance to get a room more like we originally booked...

    when is your cruise?

We have done flights at noon leaving from hobby, we are in a suite so we are off early, other options if you want off early is to carry your own bags .

Our flight is not until 2:25 and I will be off early (platinum) I was just trying to figure out what time I need to schedule the return shuttle. We usually drive to Galveston but got a great rate on a flight.

I've been scheduled with Galveston express since March of last year when my first cruise cancelled. I just keep changing the date and ship when the cruise gets cancelled. They have been really good so far working with me. They pick up and drop off at both airports.

May I ask what time your return flight is and what time you scheduled them to pick you up a the port?

  7. I booked my, now Florida, trip when my March cruise was canceled, I've had 9 cruises canceled, rebooked, canceled, blah blah blah. If (when) my May cruise is canceled I am going to diligently research and consider rebooking Cancun again. Thanks for helping me feel better about doing it.

  8. Thanks teknoge3k, we changed to Florida when we canceled Cancun, going to Clearwater Beach.

We were in Cancun (Akumal) in July the first week our resort opened backed up. It was nice having the resort almost all to ourselves, but there were lots of amenities that were still closed.

  9. I wish I were that confident, I may seriously consider it for May. Just curious, how would you handle it if just one of your party tested positive? Would everyone stay the additional days?

My travel party consists of 4 ladies with all different situations that would be affected if they had to stay the extended time, jobs and/or kids.

  10. Are y'all concerned about the required negative covid test to fly back? I canceled a trip to Cancun next month because of that. The resort I had booked was offering the test, but I have little faith in the testing itself and just feel like I don't want to take the chance 😏 I think they are also saying to quarantine for 7-10 days after returning.

I don’t think it’s going to matter. New news has NCL sending extra crew members back home essentially meaning test cruising won’t happen in the next few months. Wonder how long before Carnival does the same.

I'm afraid you are correct 😪 I still have one booked for May 8, 2021 that I'm sure will be canceled in the coming weeks.
