  1. Thanks so much jonbgd! Tremont just came open last week so i'm hoping HH will be soon. We watched Triumph come up the Mississippi a few years ago when she was late getting into port and we recorded it through the window of our room at Harrahs.

  2. Also, just because it shows availability on the 3rd party website, does not mean the booking will be successful. I've thought the same thing several times, enetered all my credit card info, and click to confirm the booking, and then get some error message that the booking could not be completed.

Oh, thanks for that info! I've had good and bad experiences using 3rd party booking sites and don't really want to take a chance. I will probably just stalk the Wyndam website and hopefully get in there before they're all booked up. We do have a backup room booked that we can cancel.

  3. If you are trying to reserve HH for one night on the weekend, that may the the problem with lack of availability. They normally require a minimum 2 night weekend stay.

It's a Sunday night, I'm not sure if that's considered the weekend or not.

I emailed the hotel a couple weeks ago and they confirmed that they do not have the booking rates open that far in advance. The email said they would forward my question to customer relations but I never heard anything more. I can reserve one night using a 3rd party website I just don't know if that's the best way to go.

  4. Thanks for the info. We looked at Tremont, and March is open for booking through Wyndam, but HH fits our budget a little easier. We will definitely choose one of the two as we are set on staying in that area.

Another question, are all of the downtown restaurants, shops, etc open on Sundays? I haven't been there in years. Even tho I always spent some time downtown I stayed on the seawall or Moody because I would have my son with me, but now it's just a group of middle aged single women and we are looking forward to walking around the Strand area Sunday.

  5. For those of you who have stayed at Harbor House, how far in advance did you book and did you book directly with the hotel or through a 3rd party site? We are leaving on a cruise 3/9/15 and want to make a reservation for the night before. I know that's the beginning of spring break in Texas  but one of the group is a teacher, so this is her vacation. Since it is a small hotel (42 rooms) and it's spring break I want to make sure we get our reservation in early but March is not available for booking on the Wyndam site. It is however available on 3rd party sites. I have read reviews on trip advisor by guests that say they were given undesirable rooms when they book using a 3rd party. In the past I have experienced this as well at other hotels. I also don't like the restrictions of having to pay when you book and no cancellation, etc.

We prefer not to stay on the seawall because we have stayed there many times. Suggestions???

  6. Sorry some of you can't see the white gown. Marie has a link on her posts to her her cruise pictures. If you go there this gown is in her 2013 OM2 Voyage collection. It is the 1st picture I think and she is standing with her husband on a red/gold staircase.

I am sooo disappointed that it doesn't fit me right, it is/was the most elegant beautiful gown I have ever had and I so wanted to wear it on our Feb. cruise. I am very happy with the black one and feel very comfortable in it. Maybe someday I will be able to get another one from Marie once everyone else has a chance to be a "Lucky Lady".

Let me know if that works,

    Debbie

The black gown looks great on you!

I can see both pictures :cool::rolleyes:

  7. Indiana that is your treat for doing so well the past 2 months. I have just purchased some new Clinique items. The have a nice kit called Party Eyes

that is only $ 29.50 with purchase. You get 8 eye colors 2 liners. Full size mascara and eye brushes.

Ugh! I wish I hadn't read this, now I'm going to have to go buy something :D If you don't mind me asking, what eye colors are in the kit?

  8. LOL....We live on Walk Street at the beach. We had many visitors from other cities. We sat out at our table in the front of the house having pizza around 8:30 and had to tell a few hundred kids that we ran out of candies :D.

I am running out of time. We are leaving for Paris on the 13 for 12 days. Then we will go to Las Vegas to meet with our Australians friends on the 26 for four days. Then we are back to Las Vegas again on December 7th for the Andrea Borelli concert. Where did the time go?

Take care dear friend. Your package will be on the way today.

    Hugs

    Marie

These was the candies I gave out.

Marie, I will be in Vegas on December 7th! We'll be there December 6-9! I don't think we are going to that concert, but who knows, maybe we'll run into each other! :D

  9. As some of you know I was in the hospital the end of September and I have been on steroids - prednisone since then and I will be on them for at least another month. In addition to making me crankier than normal - they have put almost 20 pounds on me in the last month - despite no change in diet - actually eating less and healthier. I am now going on a Caribbean cruise for Christmas and feeling depressed. The weird thing being my clothes still fit 12/14 but I just feel huge and the thought of wearing a bathing suit (I do have 2 cute swim dresses) is just making me depressed as we booked this cruise just after I got out of the hospital so we all could try to relax and now I am getting depressed and stressed about clothing and people thinking I am a beached whale. See I used to be an 8/10 til about 7 years ago when I was forced to stop running and had my knees operated on. Then until about 2 years ago I was a 10/12 when my back started to hurt - so it is just going on and on. So can people try to post some cute ideas to help me feel better and what to wear to help me deal with beach, etc. And other issue I generally only wear black so this will be different.

    Thanks

    Sharon

Sharon, that's the steroids talking! I've been there too. The most fashionable thing any woman can wear is a smile! You are beautiful, so don't sweat the small stuff! Go and have a great time and enjoy your family! The Caribbean is magical, you'll be having so much fun you won't have time to be depressed! :D

  10. The latest dress(js boutique) I bought new on eBay for $45. I will have it in a dry cleaning bag inside my garment bag for travel. I really like the yoke since I do not wear necklaces.

Wow, what a great bargain and such a gorgeous dress! I love the colors and the sparkles! I don't seem to find such bargains

I went to Dallas last weekend shopping only to come home empty handed, going back this weekend and I will not come home until I have new cruise wear! :p
