  1. @Sea DogGreg, I know how much you were hoping to have the bone marrow transplant on your knee but here's hoping your 2nd experience with total knee replacement is a better one than the 1st one. Remember every knee is different and you just might breeze through the next one. My friend had total knee replacement 2 1/2 months ago, walks without a cane or rollator and her pain is minimal. I wish the same for you! Have no fear about ranting. We all share life's experiences on here, the good and bad. We friends do that all the time. And good luck with Linda's surgery. Just keep thinking of all those wonderful cruises you have planned.
  2. I remember the GM and GE pavilions with their look into the future which I am sure is totally out of date now. I lived in Plano for 15 years and although hot in the summer, I loved the oftentimes mild winters. Still do since I'm around 10 minutes away. While still living in NY, we flew in to visit my sister who had just moved to Plano. The flatness was so evident on the drive from the airport compared to the Ramapo Mountains that was seemingly surrounded my town in NY. I got used to it. @TravelGirlinDallas Bethany, I hope your work AC was fixed! All my TX neighbors, stay cool!
  3. @HBE4 Thank you for another trip down memory lane. Menu is amazing. I remember the New City Diner was actually in Bardonia on Route 304. When we lived in Tappan, we would frequent the Blauvelt Diner on 303 at least once a week. Great staff and owners. We would usually have lunch at the Forum Diner on Route 4 when we hit the malls in Paramus. When visiting our daughter and family in March, we had breakfast in the Tom Sawyer diner also in Paramus. Our favorite to go diner, smaller than the rest was Park Ridge Diner in NJ. To go along with your menu, here is a picture of some of those incredible dessert offerings at Stateline Diner:
  4. I sure miss those Rockland and Bergen County diners. The many multi-page menus always amazed me, how they could store all of that food in their kitchens. And of course, those desserts! πŸ˜‹
  5. I love Taboo. I played not long ago and my word, in this case name was "Walter Cronkite". Forbidden words were tv, news, broadcaster, etc. My team got it immediately. My hint was "the most trusted man in America" Great game for kids to use verbal creativity. Of course, I didn't play with kids. 🀣
  6. Yes, we have Dillard's in TX. I remember Lord & Taylor very well. Classy store. Family. No better reason. We love it here in spite of the weather. Honest.
  7. Martin's does not sound familiar. Where did you shop on Grand St.? Continued healing prayers go to your daughter. Jennifer, whenever we visit our daughter in NJ, Willowbook is the closest mall. I'm not familiar with Hahne's I remember Bambergers became Macy's in the Nanuet Mall near us in Rockland County in 1986. Montclair is a lovely town. It's going to hit 100 today. High 90s low 100s for the next 10 days at least, no rain. 2011 we had over 40 consecutive days of over 100 temps, no rain. Water restrictions turned most lawns brown. What I learned about Dallas area weather living here: When it rains, it STORMS, and when it's hot it's SIZZLING HOT.
  8. YES, YES, YES to those 3 stores, AND Mays Dept. Store near A&S in Brooklyn. As you know, Paramus Park was a short ride from Rockland County. A&S Mays EJ Korvette B. Altman Orbach's Gimbles Alexander's Kleins No more. πŸ˜’ I am happy to live in an area in TX that has amazing shopping options.
  9. This comment, that I could have written, was taken from a Brooklyn memories site: I Remember my Mom would take us on the subway GG TRAIN and get off at Hoyt-Schermerhorn walk that long hallway and walk outside on to the street into mcCrory and smell the waffles ...the waffles and ice cream was good.
  10. A&S was my favorite store, first in downtown Brooklyn, then NJ. Dani, my heart aches for you and your DH. Truly. I know there will be many, many wonderful times spent together in the future.
  11. I had a bad experience attempting to take an MRI for back pain. Before I was "wheeled in" I questioned how small the tube looked. This was not my first MRI and I thought I was familiar with what size it should be. The tech told me it was fine so against my better judgement I agreed. I was wheeled totally in and all of a sudden, I felt a breeze blowing on my face and it seemed that my face was almost touching the top of the tube. I felt trapped which I never felt before when I took previous MRIs. I quickly hit the panic button and when I was wheeled out, I was told that the "regular" MRI was out of order. I'm sure I was placed in a child's MRI if there is such a thing. After that experience I found a place that had sitting MRIs. I sat with the mechanism surrounding me. I had a choice of what tv programs to watch and chose Judge Judy which I couldn't hear since I had to remove my hearing aids. I later was told by my back doctor that those sitting MRIs have been known to not be very accurate. I was lucky. He was able to determine my problem. Not serious at all.
  12. I think it's a NY thing. When you crave for something and you enjoy every heavenly morsel, it's well worth the price. As others have stated, it does feed more than one. I wouldn't pay that price on a regular basis, but once or twice a year would help fill my desire. It's all subjective. THIS!!
  13. YES worth every penny. As far as "the sign" goes, I'll have whatever she's having. 🀣 My TX friend ordered 2 pastrami sandwiches from Katz's deli delivered to her home. She asked me over for lunch and surprised me! I thought I was getting tuna. πŸ˜‹She also orders NY bagels, $54 for 12 bagels, not even a baker's dozen. I've only been to Katz's once. I'm sure local neighborhood delis have lower prices than Katz's.
  14. I'm already subscribed. I thought I would be notified when you post a new video? Pastrami on rye at Katz's deli is now $25.95. A can of soda is $2.95.
  15. Thank you so much for a look at the city which changed so much since I left 19-1/2 years ago. I've only been back a few times and will never stop loving it. BTW, I would wait on a line that was out the door for a NYC pastrami on rye with a can of Dr. Brown Cream Soda. You have a wonderful step-daughter who loves you very much. Oh Greg, so sorry to read the trouble you're having with your knee. I hope whatever course of action you take solves the problem especially the pain. On a lighter note, I clicked on You Tube and your Explorer cruise You Tube video came up! I have no idea why but I enjoyed seeing all the pictures that were on your CC review.
  16. You beat me to it. Stay cool! I'm back from running 2 errands and we're going to stay in and relax. No rain for at least the next 8 days with temps in the mid to high 90s. Unlike our previous severe storm weather watch, we are now in a severe heat advisory. And so it goes.
  17. 25% off is a good deal. It's usually 10% off 6 bottles. I brown my meatballs stove top in a frying pan then add them to the hot sauce already cooking. I need to try baking them. Less mess. Nice you have a place to enjoy music you like.
  18. Cherries $2.99/lb, ribeye steaks $4.99 choice grade. Life is good at Kroger. At least until Tuesday. Now I HAVE to make meatballs. I wonder why??? Question for the meatball mavens. Do you brown them first or add them as is to the sauce? I only use San Marzano crushed canned tomatoes among other ingredients.
  19. Hi Robyn! Hope all is well with you and your family. I knew instantly who Andrew was talking about. Glad you were able to get together with Andrew, Lisa, Owen and enjoy the big win. Happy sails to all your future cruises.
