  1. Once in 100 percent penalty and there is no insurance I would never ever call to cancel. Carnival is like a box of chocolates........you never know what you'll get! All the excursions and cheers, port fees and gratuities will automatically be refunded.
  2. But you do get a bottle of champagne and some waters, and you get to pretend you are someone important 🤣.
  3. Carnival took a perfectly working system for gift cards and made it harder to use now. The old way was much easier! I guess their IT dept has to justify their existence every now and then 😉
  4. As PE said above the limit is currently 5 per person per month for Princess as of now. They are not listed as the "premium" that allows the higher limit of 25 per month per person. So that means if you buy any other gift cards from AARP(non Princess) that are not premium it will cut into your limit of 5 per month. Princess gift cards are only 8 percent of compared to the 10 for Carnival.
  5. Miracle is doing a southern Caribbean that goes to the ABC's , Cozumel, and Montego bay and is a 12 day journeys out of Galveston Jan 26, 2025.
  6. Thanks but no thanks. I will stick to my one free vifp water and the ship water, which tastes fine to me.
  7. Charging for a third entree is quite reasonable to me. The amount of food wasted on cruises is ridiculous, especially lido deck! I see plates piled high wasted all over lido deck, people seemingly cannot control themselves when loading up.
  8. I was searching around you tube and found this interesting video with Joe Farcus talking about the introduction of the Spirit.
  9. All the more reason to put a sticky on this thread and then allow no more tipping threads 😉 .
  10. Thankfully the Spirit class cannot be "sunshined" very much. No aft lounge to get rid of. Can't do a whole lot more than what happened to the Pride with the lower part of the night club removed and converted to 5 staterooms and a dedicated chef's table room. This change was reasonable imho. I found the Radiance to be just too crowded for my taste.
  11. Usually Carnival will send you an email confirming your OBC. The benefit will more than likely be renewed in spring for Cruises beginning after July 31st of 2024.
  12. Mine was early saver. But like I said in a previous post it shows a higher penalty than is actually assessed. Mine said 400 penalty but actually was 100 penalty and 300 FCC.
  13. The other way worked quite well. I think the IT dept changes thing up just to justify their payroll sometimes 😉 . If it isn't broken don't mess with it! Now I am not sure if I have a 500 dollar card but only want to apply part of it if it will work! The old way you chose the amount and then it would only take that much from the gift card.
  14. You are correct! I didn't know this either. I checked one purchased on June 1st and it says page no longer available. Luckily I screenshot the card so I still have the number. Good for you to give everyone out here a heads up! Let us no how you resolve this, thanks.
  15. Looking at the deck plan I don't see any problems for you. The lifeboats don't stick out too far and you are 3 staterooms away from the aft lifeboats, and they only come up to about your foot level even when the lifeboat is straight in front of you.
  16. I tried to buy my daughter some with her card and it wouldn't let me. Maybe it was just another issue at the time?
  17. Does the name on the AARP account match the form of payment? I have had trouble when trying to use a card that was not in my name on the account. Everything must match up address, name on card etc. They are very fickle about these things.
  18. Just a note. The cancellation amount will often show more than the true penalty. For example I put down 400 dollars on an early saver booking and the cancellation penalty shows a 400 dollar penalty for cancelling. The true penalty amount is 50 per person or 100 dollars in my case. The remaining 300 would be carried over as a future cruise credit which would have to be booked within 12 months. Once past final payment date I would lose the whole 400 dollars.
  19. This works for me 100 percent of the time. Book Spirit class ship, choose anytime dining, then request booth seating when I show up to the MDR.
  20. If you only put down 50 per person you will unfortunately end up with nothing because they charge 50 dollars per person for cancellations on pretty much all of the bookings these days.
  21. That is the only thing that even remotely makes sense about this policy! "Sir, that was a room purchased beer, we are going to have to disembark you at the next port of call" said no one ever 😉
  22. Carnival finally got wise and decided to save the 2nd day air Fedex charges for refunding gift cards. In years gone by if I cancelled a cruise (or Carnival did) they would send me several 2nd day air Fed ex envelopes for my gift card refund. I had 4 separate packages on my porch the same day. As you can imagine that was a highly inefficient way and expensive to send back the refund.
  23. Go to AARP website log in and look under the rewards section. Browse rewards under " members only " and there will be a 100 dollar card and scroll down a bit there is also a 500 card and they are 10 percent off.
  24. You are correct, the odds are quite good of receiving luggage. It is mostly a personal preference to just bring mine with me. If I am still cruising at 70 I may let them take my luggage.
  25. Regular full size suitcases are fine. I always bring mine with me, I have seen too many " have you seen me" notices about missing luggage on just about every cruise I have been on.
