  1. I can't think of any cruise terminal we have sailed out of, including Seattle, that we have removed our shoes. I have a favorite belt that can be a problem...
  2. The difference there is those personnel are not in any position of supervision or management. Rather, they are rookies, and probably being closely supervised.
  3. I agree when talking about the average citizen. But for trained professionals, there are many steps and levels of training, screening and otherwise evaluating one's performance to weed out people whose reaction to stress and danger would be critical, and potentially fatal if panic set in. I think in the Concordia, alcohol was involved, wasn't it, @chengkp75? Or just showing off for someone?
  4. No, the Vista and Signature Suites don't have priority. Usually the sign says "Pinnacle and Neptune Suites".
  5. You want a flight at 6am on the same day you are scheduled to dock at 8am? What am I missing? They aren't going to arrive at midnight and let you off at 1am. At minimum, they need to schedule dock workers to tie up and start unloading the ship. (Might need to be Immigration officials as well.) It's not going to happen at midnight or 2am. Realistically, they might dock between 6am and 7am, but you still aren't going to even come close to catching a 6am flight. Unless I am totally misunderstanding your questions.
  6. However, Seabourn is a high end luxury line, where as discussed previously in the thread, it would be much more likely to happen.
  7. They to be having a problem. It will probably resolve in a day or two.
  8. Last I heard, in the Villas, with the Butler, you get unlimited drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), lots of appetizers, and a 3 or 4 course lunch from the Pinnacle restaurant. The benefits should be listed on the HAL website excursion page.
  9. California is proposing to regulate CLEAR. But that would only be California. United Airlines owns a big chunk of CLEAR. I doubt its going away. Personally I don't see a value in it, but United has been almost giving it away, at least on a trial basis, so, it has gained popularity. We have GE, and it has worked fine.
  10. Don't count on KW staying on your itinerary. Many threads here about the local issues.
  11. Have you looked at the train schedule on trenitalia.com? That is going to be your best info. I think you are going to be stressing.
  12. Sort of an apples and oranges comparison. Viking is an entirely different cruise line from Princess. Does Viking go the Glacier Bay? If not, then I would suggest Princess.
  13. You will probably get more expertise if you ask on the Cruise Air board. WestJet Flys all over Canada and to many airports in the US. It's not limited to Seattle.
  14. No. The only likely place a PIN might be required is unstaffed ticket machines or similar. Otherwise, tap cards should be fine. Internationally, it is well known that US issued credit cards generally (there are a few that do...we carry one) don't have PINs. We will be in Canada on a land trip in about 3 weeks. Make sure your credit card and bank (for your ATM card) knows you will be out of the US.
  15. Not from what I saw on the Zaandam earlier this month. I commonly went through the casino about 5:00 am to check out ESPN on the Mix bar and the map of the ship's location. Other than some lights on, no signs of life in the casino any morning, sea day, or not.
  16. I agree, a pick up after 8am is fine...as you mention, you are not in any rush. If you were in a rush, I would say 7am. And as mentioned, virtually any hotel will hold your luggage.
  17. When the casino opens on sea days varies a little by ship, but it is never open "all day". It may not open until 10am, or noon, or something like that. But HAL have never run a 24 hour casino that I have ever seen.
  18. There are many shuttle recommendations, if you look around the board...SAS, QLS, Jiffy Jeff, GO Shuttle, a couple others.
  19. Everyone is an expert in how emergency responders should do their jobs. It always takes us too long to get to emergencies (like we don't like to drive with lights and sirens to calls, but then some complain we make too much noise arriving)...the list of expert advice we get could fill a War and Peace sized novel. And a second novel on people's illogical and selfish behavior. Not absolving the caption of Concordia one bit. But have seen far to many people behaving badly in emergencies... 35 years in emergency services...
  20. They opened the gangway at 7:30...we were in the first couple of people.
  21. We disembarked April 13th in San Diego, carrying off our bags. Disembarking started right at 7:30. We were in TSA at the airport...no line, at 8am. Our flight was at 10:20...no problem. There was NO Customs check. Customs is hardly a thing any more. Immigration consisted of picture taken for facial recognition by HAL shore based personnel...not be CBP. Took less than 30 seconds. 11:15 flight should not be a problem.
