  1. I'm scratching my head. They have cancelled the South Georgia visit but are continuing to Antarctica. I always thought the Drake Passage was the potential hazard.
  2. I just booked my flights direct with Regent on the phone. IAD to BCN and LHR to BWI (non gateway) There was a $250 charge to return to the non gateway airport. It was a deviation.
  3. I see no one has responded so I will even though it was 2013. We did the overnight to Luxor from the Quest and it was a great experience. I would never do the one day. We saw several sights that I can't recall the specifics off hand, but it was a very full two days. Of course, the bus ride is over 3 hours from Safaga. We went to both sides of the river to the major sites. Stayed at the St George which is a very nice hotel. We had to cancel an Istanbul to Singapore cruise that is current on the Regent Explorer and had planned to do the same overnight again. The cost in 2013 was very reasonable. Now, I have no idea. Well, I do have an idea. The Regent cost was $899pp. Your review and photos of the Iceland/Greenland trip in 2017 led me to book that trip so I hope you find this useful.😀
  4. I agree. We have been doing this for DW for the last couple of years. A blessing we are happy to pay for.
  5. I understand the uncertainty is caused by the airlines. I guess I'm concerned because our flights have already been changed once (but are still good flights.) I suppose this is just one of the uncertainties we have to live with in the current environment. C'est la vie. Thanks for the responses.
  6. We are approaching final payment. We have good flights BWI to Haneda and return. With current airline unreliability I was wondering what our redress would be if Regent changed (after FP) our flights to very undesirable routing with, say, close connections and additional stops. We are not young and resilient as we once were and would not want an itinerary which would very probably lead to a horror story such as some we have seen recounted on CC. I did go to Regent's web site but did not see anything relevant. My guess is we would be stuck. Any knowledge out there regarding this? TIA.
  7. I followed a recent Silversea thread where the ship visited Jedda. No alcohol for 3 days.
  8. We have 62 days on O and gold on Regent. I have always considered O to be Regent a la carte as I found the service, food and atmosphere comparable. If you don't drink alcohol and do your own excursions O is probably for you. Having said that there are big differences in ships and cabins. We spent 24 days in a veranda cabin on Nautica, 175 SF balcony 40SF. We were younger then! I knew all the ships bathrooms since the one in the cabin was VERY small. The newer ships are totally different. Cabins bigger but you have to research the differences. The new ships have beautiful art (and more passengers). DW will never do O again as we do drink alcohol and she hates the chit. We enjoyed all our cruises on both lines. Love the F cabins on R's new ships. As to cost, you have to do the numbers for each cruise. O can be less....or more.
