  1. Sorry your visit to Martinique was a bust. I had a wonderful ship excursion to chef Prisca Morjon’s restaurant. Learned a lot about local ingredients and the various Martinique rums. To go with lunch we each made our own custom cocktail. At the base of the path up to Brimstone I came across a lady terrified of the trek. I held her hand, encouraged her and we made it to the top just fine. She was thrilled. Made my day.
  2. Enjoyed the Daily Walk video. You’ll never see me in a driverless car. They break down, then a T. rex eats you. 🦖
  3. Just ordered my first Bruno book and have the cookbook on standby.
  4. Oops, after an unsuccessful search on just Jim_Iain I sent a friend request. Now that I’ve found the group just ignore the request. Most of my “friends” are Afghan Hound people I don’t really know…
  5. Jim, following your trip reports is always such a treat. I LOVE retirement. No interest in sailing Edge class. See you in November!
  6. The porthole window is my favorite feature of a corner sky suite. Cabin is so much brighter. Also an additional view. Will only book a sky suite if it’s a corner.
  7. When I was in Sweden I had herring three times a day. (I think they keep all the good herring.) Ordered a copy of The Widow Clicquot. Arriving just in time—headed to Fort Lauderdale tomorrow. Two Silhouette cruises coming up.😎
  8. On one of our canal boat rides a huge crocodile sunning himself hopped into the water and bumped our boat with his nose. Probably laughed at us.🐊
  9. When I boarded Reflection in November as a solo cruiser the person checking me in fussed at me because my husband wasn’t with me. He passed away 10 years ago.
  10. Good ole Celebrity IT. Was treated the same as a RS in November but wouldn’t be surprised to see that change. Won’t book again since the forward location made me seasick in rough seas. The suite is absolutely gorgeous. The high ceilings are remarkable. Lots of glass made the interior very bright. Loved the quiet private hallway. But seemed the shower/tub (with a shower curtain!) was trying to kill me. Very high-sided tub. If it weren’t for the seasick issue I would book again even with reduced amenities. Too bad.
  11. Jim, I remember your empty RS report. Crazy! My “Get lost loser!” notifications are always 48 hrs prior. Have never won a bid.
  12. I learned the correct spelling of Silhouette when I started booking cruises on her. We need a Sapphire ship. Can’t spell that without looking it up.
  13. For me a Millenium class PH is the best suite in the X fleet because of the awesome balcony. I would love to sail in a PH one more time. I’d be solo, but that’s OK. No more front-of-the-ship cabins for me. Had way too much motion in a very pretty Signature Suite on Reflection.
  14. I take Bonine and wear a Relief Band for any boat ride and flying (and sometimes movies). They usually work well, but “rocking and rolling” for a long time could be overwhelming. Wouldn’t want to feel sick the entire trip. Is drinking alcohol contraindicated while wearing the patch? That would interfere with my entertainment. 🥂🍸🍻 If not, I would consider trying it. No thanks on the weird glasses. And yes, maybe turning 71 has something to do with it. Used to never get seasick.
  15. Thanks, it seems I should limit my Galapagos adventures to virtual, following the outstanding reviews and pictures from my living room.
  16. Does the ship rock much when anchored overnight? Considering Galapagos but worried about getting seasick on a small ship. 🤢
  17. Thank you for your review. I too miss having a promenade deck, they are pretty rare these days. Way back when we always strolled the promenade deck after dinner, even in formal wear. I also miss formal wear and no weight limit on luggage.😎
  18. Mega ships are not for me but I’ll still be following your adventures with interest. Our first cruise was on little bitty Grandeur of the Seas. Nice pictures. The Crown Loft is pretty, I like the brightness and view from the tall windows. Don’t think I’d like tromping up and down the stairs.
  19. I spend as much time as possible on my balcony but I need shade. No sunbathing for me, just don’t like it. Wouldn’t mind no deck jacuzzi, I’ve never used it. Guess I would use the sun room if no shade or bad weather. Would rather be outside.
