Good morning all!
Yes, we have rain! Finally. A nice gentle, steady rain and will go through tomorrow morning. @SusieKIslandGirl I'm not sure where you are
We're on Vashon, directly across from Sea-Tac airport. And the rain we did have that reset our weather gauge was 0.015" so it barely counts. Sadly, the rain here didn't last and everything is dry again. I hope some more shows up. Everyone I spoke with this morning agreed it was a lovely, cloudy PNW day😅.

Yum! Grasshoppers-we made them (with ice) when we were 1st married in our new avocado green Osterizer which was a gift from my sister. Haven't had the drink in years but I still use the blender.
I just read the weather forecast for Monday-A steady rain in the morning. Showers continuing in the afternoon. High 67F. Winds SSW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 80%. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch. How can a steady rain and then showers produce only 1/4" of rain? Sheesh!

Referring back to yesterday's topic of pillows, my friends talked me into a weird pillow from Amazon and I love it. Look for VOOVC. It's sort of a flower shape and supports your neck when you sleep on your back but is also very comfortable if you sleep on your side. The radio gave a weather update today-we will get rain on Monday and Tuesday and it should total 1/3". Not sure it was worth the time to report it. At least it's been cooler. @StLouisCruisersLove the twins' photos and their names.

It's been several years but we flew from Seattle to Iceland with a plane change in Edmonton. Boy, were we surprised as we were walking toward the main terminal (outside of security) and there was a carousel with our bags on it. We had no idea we had to claim them and recheck them. I also lost a jar of local jam I bought at SEA to take as a get-together prize.

I'm wondering where all these mega ships are going to sail to-so many ports are complaining about being overrun with people when ships are in port and some even banning large ships. I just read about Barcelona planning to raise their tax on cruisers.

Well, the rain stopped after the 10 drops-just enough to make spots on the dusty car. And the sun is shining brightly but at least the deck temp didn't go over 80, for once, almost but not quite.

Yea! It’s cloudy and we’ve had 10 drops of rain so far. Hopefully more to follow. Have a great Sunday.

@Haljo1935Could you tape a note to your cluster box asking the mail carrier to check other boxes for a misdelivery? Another reason for a long delay in package-or mail-delivery is when it is misdelivered, that person doesn't bother to return it in a timely fashion.

Do the take credit cards? Thanks!

@Cruising-alongWhat month was it when you visited Komodo Island? Although I suppose most any month is going to be hot. I always take a zip top bag with a wash cloth in it, filled with ice, on hot weather tours. Bet my ice won't last long there. Thanks!

@kazuThanks for checking in-happy to hear everything went well. Now the trick is to not overdo. @Cruising-alongThanks for the Komodo photos. Getting excited about stopping there in January. Guess I'd better take my walking stick to help climb the stairs! Take care and stay cool everyone! (14 days now and still no rain after the .015" we did have).

In less than a year, the ice maker in a Samsung fridge we got in Dec 2019 stopped working. Tech replaced the "brains" as he referred to the circuit board and said it was a known issue. Last summer it stopped working again.
So, I agree - technology heavy items seem to be finicky and have issues.
Since it is out of warranty, we now use a small counter top ice maker and will get the fridge fixed when something else goes wrong with the fridge. We're just 2 people who don't use a lot of ice, so the portable one is more than adequate for us. But ask me how I feel about if we ever want to fill an ice chest, lol.
Yep, we replaced our Samsung unit after they replaced it once under warranty and then the same problem with the freezer occurred again in just under 6 years. Our countertop ice maker is stored for now, I hope the new LG lasts longer! Had to laugh when reading reviews about the "Samsuck" brand!

If you're at all interested in D-Day and the history surrounding it, the Nieuw Statendam will give you an opportunity to visit the beaches from Le Harve. That's on my bucket list.

Thank you for this! It looks like I would get $200 of OBC for being an AARP member for one of these transatlantic. Unfortunately, it only applies to new bookings and I already paid the $2 deposit on both sailings. It says I need to wait 2-3 days before booking for the member benefit now that I have verified my membership. I suppose I can wait until the weekend and if pricing is the same, cancel and rebook to get the benefit, but the $1 deposits promo is supposed to end today. I will just have to see what the situation is if I were to rebook in a few days.
It doesn't hurt to ask. Either talk with your travel agent or call HAL to see if they can add it.
-
go to HollandAmerica.com and put AARP benefits in the search bar. The link to verify membership should show up.
-
Somewhere on the Holland America website there should be information on registering. If you're employed in the medical field, are an educator or maybe other professions, you verify employment. I will look for more info if you can't find the link.
-
I can't remember if you can join AARP at any age, but if you're a member, you can register for OBC. You can also get OBC for a variety of other occupations/memberships. You can also see a lot of photos on Halfacts.com.

Update: Cat's patience paid off. He finally caught it, then played with it in the middle of the living room until I grabbed the broom and got it outside. Phew! Certainly didn't want a mouse decaying near my computer. Generally, he brings birds in so feathers everywhere. I guess we have a hunter.

Erg and double erg! I was BBQing hamburgers, had the deck door open and a very low-flying helicopter from the army base flew over the house. It scared the cat and he came running into the house---with a very plump mouse in his mouth. Of course it wasn't dead, so it is now behind one of the cabinets in the living room. The cat is on guard, but something tells me we're going to have to start moving furniture. Oh, the joys of country living.

One of my private tour groups had arranged to meet and the spot turned out to be close to where some of the roped off walkway was for the tenders, near an elevator. One of the crew-officer type-noticed us and ushered our group down. Another time, we had a lot of interesting "marriages" when we paired up the lesser stars with the 4*. 😮

@ger_77Boy did I read this wrong! You wrote-- I'm going to pass on the drink, have never liked the taste of the wine. I missed the "the" and thought what??
