  1. Well, an interesting start to the day. The 1st Wednesday of the month is our group meeting at the Lutheran church to sew comfort quilts for the U of Washington Medical Center. I arrived early to set up and thought the church had sort of a strange odor. Others arrived and commented but we finally decided it might be natural gas so called to have someone check it out. We were told to evacuate the building so everything was put away and we left (barely an hour into our sewing). Turns out there was work done on the hot water heater yesterday and the pilot light had gone out. Guess we might try again next week. Hope everyone has a better day than this! And stay safe tomorrow!

  2. I just looked at the HAL website and see what you mean. It is confusing! The formatting on the website has the mac & cheese on the same line as the rest of the items.

    Choice Of Sides
    • Creamed spinach • asparagus with Hollandaise • roasted baby beets with blue cheese •
    • mashed potatoes • baked potato • French fries • sautéed mushrooms • Beecher’s lobster mac & cheese

    US $10 supplement

  3. @woodley Do you remember which visa you applied for? When looking at the site to apply, there were several options. There is a Tourist (Visa on Arrival) B1 good for 30 days and is about $31. The D1 Tourist Multiple Entry, good for 1 year, is about US $183 and then the Tourist Single Entry Visitor Visa is about $92. No wonder everyone is confused! Thanks for any help you might have.

  4. Well, this morning started out badly. Looked out the door to the back porch and there was a da** deer munching away. Gone are the geraniums blooms, red clover, lobelia,  gazania flowers and even the buds on the new fuchsia that was ready to burst open. She was up on the porch, practically in the house if the door had been open. Guess I need to find a stronger repellent. And still no rain. Hope everyone has a better day.

Sharon if only it was just 1 slug. Every morning and evening I kill dozens of them. I may have killed the one(s) who did this in my morning slaughter today. This area has tons of them. Probably the only thing I dislike living here.

Have you tried putting out a saucer of beer? That seems to attract them and hopefully keep them away from the plants. For some reason, this year we have a bunch of snails along with the slugs. Where did they come from? Ugh!

    Thanks 😊

Mine are in giant bottles and I typically try to dose them out into baggies if I know it’ll be fine.

I asked about getting smaller bottles for our prescriptions and it is possible. It just needs to be done in person when it's time to refill. We usually do our refills by mail.

had already been looking at the Crowne Plaza for the hotel, it seems to be highly recommended on CC and Tripadvisor.  It will be interesting to see how Princess compares with HAL.

I booked early and kept a watch on prices. I think I rebooked 3 times for a lower price. The senior price ended up better than the member price.

So we're looking at Princess....never have sailed Princess -- any tips anyone??

We were on the Discovery Princess in April for the solar eclipse. I'm trying to decide whether Princess or HAL is my favorite. As mentioned, the 24-hour International Cafe is great! And I love their closet set-up. The Crowne Plaza San Pedro (Las Angeles Harbor) is a convenient hotel to the port. They run an inexpensive shuttle. We flew into LAX on AlaskaAir and used Uber to the hotel. It was interesting that the 20 minute ride from the ferry dock to SEATAC was the same price as the 40 minute ride to the hotel.

Thank you Vanessa 🙂  When I went out earlier (it's raining too hard now) I didn't see any sign of the mole so fingers crossed it found the poison. Of course the rain has brought slugs to the garden, another problem entirely!

Would love to know your magic potion for the moles. Miserable creatures along with the miserable deer! And the Seattle area never did see any rain. I finally gave up and watered the flowers.

This is why Seattle offers Port Valet I’m guessing.  It’s a pretty airport but what a hot mess.

SeaTac has had ongoing construction for quite awhile and baggage claim is the worst. We picked up friends yesterday who are sailing with you and the arrivals area is a mess. The 3 large trucks picking up cruiser luggage didn’t help. Too bad the don’t have a different area for that. Have a great cruise!

Many years ago, Pat bought his blue hat in Hamilton, it has been his signature for a long time, and as he usually races on ahead of me, a lot of times it is his proof of presence!  The hat is getting threadbare now after many washings, so we looked for one in the shops this time, but no luck.  Maybe we'll have to stop travelling..

Amazon has several that are very similar. Would hate to see you stop traveling 😊!

Many a time I paged through the book that was compiled to show the history of his 3rd Armored Division.

My dad was also in the 3rd Armored Division. I'm pretty sure I have that same book and his VFW hat. His unit was one of the first to enter Nordhausen, one of the last concentration camps. He had nightmares for many years.
