  1. I cannot speak to the frequency of this happening, but my company issued a notice a couple of years ago warning business travelers about this practice at CBP.  We were informed not to carry confidential information on our computers, only access that information through our secured servers and VPNs.  If we were pulled aside, we were to comply to their requests to open our electronic devices for their inspection.  Upon return to the office or plant, to immediately surrender our computer to IT and not to turn it on connected to our network.

By the way … to people who say they were always drinking on day #8 of 7 days cruises ….
    For how many years?

As prepandemic there was Happy Hour and all drinks + 3 vouchers only were available during those 3.5 hours a day?

I believe the first time we attempted to use a day 8 coupon was last year Christmas on the Adventure.  The subsequent 4 cruises we successfully received Bailey's in our coffee and mimosas in the MDR at breakfast.

The variable is the # of 24 hour periods.  Will it be 7 or 8 on a 7 night cruise?  Was 8 previously since you take an 8 day, 7 night cruise.

Remains to be seen if that continues with a fresh set of vouchers at 5 am on debarquement day, let alone the questions of where, how and if, they can ALL be used in the rush off of the ship. If only specialty coffee is open, then that value of $6 is certainly less than a $13 voucher.  Simple math.

The 24 hour period they've now chosen is no longer convenient.  There's no benefit in the customer's favor here.

    Challenge accepted!  LOL

We typically either stay an extra day or have a late flight out after a cruise.  So instead of fighting for breakfast in the Jam, we have a leisurely meal in the MDR.  Our last cruise on the Explore in November, we had multiple mimosas at breakfast.  Now I am sure we did not use all our coupons, but we did have the opportunity to do so.

I can confirm that vouchers are not on your card on debarkation day.  I have always had a specialty coffee to get my day started.  When they slid my card, it did not list any vouchers.  The staff member was as shocked as I was, and was not informed of the new policy.  I never use all five of my vouchers and have not abused the policy, but I was not happy early in the morning.  This was on the Mariner and the DC coffee machine was out all cruise.

Didn't this policy just start on sailings starting yesterday (16th of December)?

I was born in Montreal but grew up in Toronto. It took a long while to switch my allegiance to the Leafs from Les Habitants and to the Blue Jays from Les Expos! The old Forum and Jerry Park were cathedrals for me.

The scene when you returned for a visit? 😂

The only thing that's fit for human consumption at Timmy's is the coffee. Sounds like you know your way around the northeast end of the GTA eh? (Greater Toronto Area)

Not a fan of Timmy's anything.  I find the coffee weak as I drink it black not the typical Double-Double. If I were out craving a coffee I would settle for a McDonalds coffee.

As for the discussion of Johnny's, I used to rave about it.  We were on the Allure just before the Covid shutdown and bragged to my friend that this place as the place.  Had a very underwhelming burger that I was embarrassed about since I pumped it up so much.  So probably not return as I can get the same if not better burger in the Jammer.  However, the Royal Burger they serve in the MDR at lunch is well worth it.  And there is not upcharge for it.

  7. So I have been thinking about my personal experience that I mentioned earlier.  The 750 ml or 1 l bottle I had purchased spilled into my suitcase and my clothes absorbed it.  The suitcase was not wet, at least from what I remembered.  There was glass (obviously), which I remember shaking out of the bottom of my bag.  So how much wine was in this person's suitcase to leak out and soak the op's 2 suitcases anyway?  And it would be pretty easy to track down the culprit since they would be either sending in a lot of laundry or walking around the ship with a reddish hue on their clothes.

  8. I have a confession to make.  Back on the Jewel in 2006, I purchased a bottle of banana rum for a friend back in Canada.  I put it in my checked luggage expecting it to be confiscated.  Doesn't bag show up at our door.  So when I opened it I asked my wife, "Do you smell bananas?"  Well didn't the bottle break and all my clothes absorbed the liquor.  So if anyone is on these boards and your bag was received smelling of bananas, please accept my deepest apologizes.

It’s just like a regular transfer of funds between accounts.  If I log into TD Canada I can see my TD US account and do a transfer.  RBC withdrew their physical presence from the US while TD was launching theirs.  I believe RBC still has a presence through PNC Bank.  I moved from RBC to TD for a more traditional experience and ease of use.  If you aren’t actually spending much time in the US then I guess a brick and mortar building is not as important.

Ok, good to know TD have upgraded the experience.  You are correct that RBC Bank uses PNC bank in the US.  It was handy when we disembarked in Boston and I was able to deposit our casino cash winnings into a PNC ATM.  But I was right across the street for the TD North arena so I am sure a TD machine would have been just as easy.
