  1. You mentioned the hot dog stand but not shawarma right next door, which was my biggest freebie food surprise on the ship. Hope you didn't miss it! Thanks for the brief yet fairly comprehensive review!
  2. Has anyone had experience with getting their antigen test done in Italy? We're boarding Pride out of Rome 9/11 and have to be tested three days before - but we're spending two weeks training around Venice, Florence, Pisa and Cinque Terre prior to the cruise, so testing in the US won't be an option. TIA.

  4. I don't know, but there are some new, really nice southern Caribbean cruises from Baltimore - visiting St. Thomas, St. Kitt's, St. Maarten, Aruba, Curacao and Grand Turk on one cruise.
  5. We are foodies and we give Rudi's two thumbs up with a drooling smile. Like Steakhouse, you can tell by the quality and freshness of the food - as well as the presentation, sauces and overall taste - the kitchen is run by chefs, not cooks. Next Mardi Gras cruise we'll eat at Rudi's twice and Steakhouse once.
  6. Eli, we'll be boarding Pride out of Rome on 9/11. Do you remember the name of the man who traumatized your son and you?
  7. Kmom, you're not alone in your struggle to comfort Fighter. A lot of us here pray/hope for the best time together you and Fighter can possibly have. He's very handsome in the photo. I've been down that road of "the pain meds are helping less and less every week/few days" and can relate - it's heartbreaking yet you are doing the best anyone could do. Fighter and all of your mini-zoo members are very lucky to have someone like you with a BIG ANIMAL HEART. I see another puddy tat in the background and it looks like you have an actual "hospice center" set up. You're a saint.
  8. That saying is wise but not fullproof. #1, nobody KNOWS what direction a stock is headed. 2# I'll dollar-cost average my way down to as low as $6.00 before giving up. #3, when you buy on the way up, you missed the best buy point(s) and missed some amazing future realized gains - waiting for a buy point as a stock rebounds can be much less profitable than buying the dip. Let's see where we go from here!
  9. Bringing back this thread about CCL, it's fun to look back at predictions. I'm glad I sold a bunch @ $30 a while back, and just today finally nibbled at $8.49 right near close of market. Anybody else nibbling here?

  11. I was going to say "a repeat of the poop cruise", losing power, would be dealbreakers but you can't know about those events ahead of time so there's no way to know if those cruises will be dealbreakers until the event actually happens. So I'll go with any itinerary that sails through large iceberg fields... at night.
  12. Great info, Saint Greg, THANKS! But what do you mean "if I were doing it again"? You KNOW you wanna go back to Alaska like everyone does who goes the first time! 😃
  13. As professional travelers, we learned a long time ago to pack everything a backpack and overhead-bin sized rolling carry-on. We never have problems asking nicely to put our things in the room, as the doors in the hallways are open at that time. We just say "we just want to put these in the closet and we'll be gone". Never had a problem and it allows us to do the ultra early self assist debarkation, which mean we can take an earlier flight home, which means we can see the dogs and ferrets sooner!

  15. I don't think so, but I guarantee you they will happily shrink and dull everything, no extra charge.
  16. I have over 3,000sh, I show that when I send in the partially-redacted brokerage statement, and have been denied the last two cruises. It seems they're just enforcing some writing in the policy that they hadn't until the last six months or so. I was on a "free" casino offer cruise both times and that surely meets the policy no-no's.
  17. My understanding is there's alot more non-stop partying on the shorter cruises. I've never been on a short one so I can't say, but I've heard it repeatedly. Maybe that's it.
  18. Great review, I enjoyed it! Your story-telling style brings everything to life for the reader. Thanks!
  19. I read on CNN yesterday that Holland America is no longer requiring pre-embarkation covid testing and there was speculation among cruise industry experts that the bigger lines may soon follow. Fingers crossed!
  20. I agree with what you said, including the "that's just me" which is a nice way of acknowledging there's no black/white answer. That said, the difference between a microwave catching fire and the ship losing propulsion is kind of like the difference between you have a fire in your fireplace and your house is on fire. One is easily taken care of, the other is a potential tragedy. Yes, if the ship loses power for thirty seconds I want to know about it and be assured everything is back to normal. Especially if I was in an elevator.
