Got a similar question. Husband medically evacuated off the ship last week, three days before we would have completed the 11 day voyage.  That trip was our 15th cruise and coincidently would have been our 150th day.  Will they bump us to Elite now because we paid for the cruise or would we have had to complete the cruise?

Go to your cruise history in your cruise Personalizer to see how many days were credited to your account, but I would think you would have been credited for the cruise count. So your Captain circle status should show as Elite.

I was on a sailing that was cut short because of Covid, the sailing was ending early, but Princess still credited the original number of days for the sailing.

  2. @bosswench, I believe Carnival cruises, their VIFP loyalty will recognize you if you are graduating tiers on the first leg, which is a nice perk of their program.

Princess officially says ‘days’ do not post till you complete the leg, so you will not be recognized as Platinum till leg 3. You should still stop by the Future cruise agents who now handle  Captain Circle issues to give them a heads up to make sure the days post or they can manually ‘update’ your status for leg 3.

I know there are exceptions as I was on a transpacific sailing and a passenger was told since they were graduating to the next tier in the first couple of days of this long sailing, they would be recognized at the higher tier for the current cruise and not have to wait till the cruise was completed. I asked the Captain circle host about this and she confirmed Princess will make exceptions, but what the cutoff in early cruise days reaching the next tier is (the first few days?), and what number of days is considered a ‘long’ sailing is not set in stone. YMMV.

  3. You will also get misleading information if the medallion has left the ship. It should show the location where the medallion was tapped out, but I have had cases where it showed it was in a cabin, but I knew the passenger had left the ship to explore the port.

I know this varies, especially with Covid.  The reason I ask is because we will be sailing on the Regal this November.  The ships inaugural sailing was May 2014 with no refurbishment showing on the website.  The Royal on the other hand was built in 2013 and refurbished in 2018.  Can a ship really go over 10 years without being refurbished?

If you look at other sources, the Regal had refurbishments in 2017, 2020 and 2022.

The Princess website is not the most up to date source, but you would think it should be. Most ships are required to dry dock every 3-4 years, if not sooner, as you can see from its history.

  5. @DACL, when daughter and MIL arrive to check in, Princess may think medallions were shipped, so will not have ones ready for pick up. No problem, depending on the port, they can make replacement medallions, or they will issue them cruise cards so they can board and then go to Guest services to get replacement medallions. This was my experience when I never received my shipped medallion.

Anyone know why the Sept. 20 Discovery Princess Alaska cruise will arrive for disembarkation in Vancouver on Sept.28th at 9:45 a.m.?

Royal class ships have to time with the tides getting under the lions gate bridge. You will notice the departure on the 28th, is not scheduled till 10:30pm.

I believe the Majestic when it arrived from the recent Transpacific sailing, it arrived in the very early morning hours because of the tides. I believe it is only the ‘Royal’ class ships that have to deal with this, as the smaller ships have a regular schedule.

Sorry I don't know how to use the Search feature very well as I'm certain this has been answered somewhere.  What is the cost of the 4 device wifi (yes, I know that it technically is not wifi, but internet access)?  It seems that the Princess website doesn't want us to know the cost of the packages.  Then I assume the cost is discounted half for Platinum status folks? TIA

I believe the rate for 4 devices if you buy for entire cruise is $45/day, plat and elites get 50% discount.

Thanks for your replies. To be clearer, I will not be purchasing a Premiere package or staying in a suite. That said, do I need to — or even can I — make show reservations?

Also, my travel agent booked me a balcony cabin on Deck 15 which I believe is classified as DB, but hasn’t said anything to me about any particular perks, like theater reservations, which come with it. I’ll be sending her an email as we speak for clarification.

Princess does not ‘make’ reservations for the Theatre. For production shows, certain seats will have ‘seatback covers’ saying reserved for the Premier package and probably on upcoming Sun class the Sanctuary class cabins. It is still first come,  first served, even for those seats, you are not assigned any seat number. Also these ‘reserved’ seats are not usually front, center. Most would not consider them ‘prime’ location, but convient ,  so you do not have to arrive so early.

My last cruise, I had Premier, but choose to sit up front and center, so I got to the theatre 25-30 minutes before showtime. This timing will vary depending on the other passengers on your ship and their desire to see the shows. Normally the second show around 9:30 is less crowded. YMMV.

I believe your cabin a DB, is a ‘deluxe balcony’ which just means it has a sofa, no other amenities come with this category.

    Hi All,

I was told if you buy the Plus package on board, they add 18%. Bring it to $70.80 a day. Anybody know if this is true? I have onboard credit but don’t want to pay extra for it. Thank you,

    Diane

You may be confusing the standalone beverage packages where the 18% is added.

The Plus and Premier bundles(bev, WiFi, crew appreciation )do NOT have additional charges.

  10. If you order a coffee with Alcohol, it will count towards your 15 alcohol drink limit. Think of it as any cocktail with coffee as the mixer instead of tonic or other mixers.

I believe the included specialty coffee at suite breakfast are the non alcohol variety.  Yes, I know you get complimentary Mimosas but I believe that is the extent of the included alcohol.

The suite breakfast manger can verify your options.

[bumping this old thread to ask a new question]

If one booked the ezair flights directly from the princess website, can they be paid using gift cards (e.g., AARP Princess gift cards)?  If it matters, the cruise itself was also booked directly on the web site and paid using the gift cards.

    TIA

I believe you can only pay with gift cards if you booked EZAir PRIOR to final payment date. If booking EZAir after final payment date, then I believe the answer is NO to using gift cards.

We also booked through Princess EZair. If the price drops after final payment will they adjust it? We are on the 17 day cruise to Greenland. This is our longest cruise ever!

If you have booked the ‘flexible’ air, you pay for your EZAir reservation at final payment but have until 45 days before flight OR start of cruise WHICHEVER is earliest, to either cancel or make changes at no charge, then penalty/fees will apply. When you go into manage my flights, it will show this ‘date’.

There is no automatic adjustment, you have to check yourself and make change if fare drops, if you have problems, check your travel summary for the en route delay number and EZAir is available 24/7 via this number.

If you don't have a smart phone, and don't want a smart phone, what are the options for maneuvering through the boarding process?

You should be able to check in, complete info using web version or calling in to Ocean Navigators to complete your info, no smartphone needed.

  14. @MudderBear, Sapphire has Vines, limited Alfredo’s and Ocean Terrace on Sea days for your casual dining options. Unfortunately, the Sushi set menu is the only option, as it is not made to order in front of you, like on the Royal class ships.

As you seem to not need drinks over $15, then Premier does not seem worth it for you.

Princess Prizes is a wild card, as currently I believe one cruise is won every cruise, but who knows what prizes will be offered next year.

    Hi!

What are your experiences about cruise price dropping after the final payment? I did the reservation directly with Princess through the chat, and the price have dropped almost 500$. Could I ask for some onboard credit, upgrade, or fare reduction?

    Best regards!

Check what is the fare for the next category up? If it is close to the fare you paid for your lower category, then you are always allowed to ‘upgrade’ yourself by saying you would like to pay to upgrade to the next higher category.

My friend did this after final payment recently, the next category was actually about $30 less, and the Princess agent issued a credit for the difference. YMMV.

From your signature, you are in Spain? Rules vary by country. My friends experience was for a booking made in the US.

    Hello

I am now 11 days from sail date and should be able to now see my boarding pass and boarding time.  Where do I find that on the Princess website and/or the app?

    Thanks

Very soon when you open the APP, your Ocean Ready status will show Green lane or Blue lane along with your cabin assignment and a QR code which has not been asked for. During Covid you selected an arrival time, but that has been discontinued and you can arrive at the port to check in during the boarding period listed in your Travel Summary or on the APP.

Princess actually does has a Pandora shop

I was trying to let scx22 know the ‘charms’ they were probably talking about are no longer available and for clarification. The promo Princess bracelet I would say is a Pandora wanna be.

  18. 4 hours ago, SCX22 said:

For what it's worth, the charm bracelet events might be worth going to because you actually get something physically in return for you attendance--the charm.  All you get at the acupuncture, Medi spa, spa, and fitness related seminars is a bunch of hot air from the presenter.  If you can bring along a sacrificial cute kid that the shopkeepers find adorable, you'll end up with a boatload of charms without having to go each and every event.  My friend's 5 year old daughter ended up with all of the charms, and more, on day 5 of a 14 day cruise.

Hi @SCX22, would you clarify which ‘charms’ you are referring?

Effy used to have a charm bracelet where you would collect a different charm at each of thier ‘events’. No purchase required. They would attach to the bracelet via a small lobster clasp.

Princess has since introduced it own charm bracelet which is a pseudo Pandora style bracelet, (charms slide onto the bracelet), where you buy a starter set of charms for $10, to get the ‘free’ bracelet, then buy the daily charm of the day, and if you collect all the $ ones, you are given the ‘Princess Sea Witch Charm’ as a gift.

As the Princess ‘charms’ actually cost $, I would not think the shop employees are very keen on giving these away to adorable children and are in the business of making sales of the charm starter set and subsequent charms.

Effy has discontinued its charm bracelet as to not compete/confuse with the Princess charm bracelet and now hands out little colored pendants for their ‘events’.

we are debating booking separate cruises to get the additional cruise credit.

Princess has updated their system awhile ago to recognize ‘segments’, so a 14 day cruise that can be booked a 2 seven day cruises , you will get ‘credit’ for each segment as the previous poster stated regarding his 14 day Alaska sailing, no matter how you book. So do not worry about booking separate segments to get the cruise credits. Do the math and determine which combination will net you the most benefits, in terms of packages and shareholders if applicable.

Can you still swap the elite mini bar for the coffee card; which is added to your medallion now.

No, coffee card no longer exists.  You will buy your coffees ala carte, as there is no longer a coffee pkg of 15 coffees for a set price. Only drink packages are offered which you need to buy for the entire voyage.
