  1. IMHO, I dont foresee ncl changing their ways till a class action lawsuit is filed when there is enough customers that can show proof of losses sustained from these last minute changes. In court ncl will most likely have to provide documents when they knew ports were not going to work out as well reasons why they kept that info from its customers. Seems like an embarkation or debarkation port change should necessitate an all money back cancellation option if not a future cruise credit on top of that.
  2. We did a panama canal cruise in early 2023 round trip out of panama city, panama on the jewel. The BOGO airfare was great as well as cruise. It was $698 for two. We arrived two days early and landed in the afternoon. We got great flights with only one connection both ways. We even got to choose our seats and upgrade if available. It looked like ncl flew a bunch of people to houston going down and we all got on a jet to panama, then on way back most cruisers going back to US where on flight to atlanta and then we all had flights back to our home city. I would not book a BOGO flight if it was domestic or atleast a flight in the lower 48 states.
  3. Im watching bermuda as well for 2026. hoping for a breakaway+ ship. It also looks like the 7 day trips are only offering 2 nights not 3 nights.
  4. Would love to sail on breakaway+ ship! Sailed on Getaway last year and really enjoyed the shows, bar variety, and especially the waterfront!! We've primarliy sailed on jewel class ships which we really like but the breakaway+ ships have two features we love and thats the waterfront and the observation lounge!! Also sailed on Epic when it first came out and was a pretty great experience. So hard to rate!!
  5. Did a cruise to iceland and greenland last year this time. Had one iceland port, djupvogir cancelled, and two greenland ports canceled - paamut and nuuk. It was a above average price cruise so it was disappointing so many cancellations. When paamut and nuuk where canceled we were supposed to cruise a fjord one day and go to quaatorq the next waking up the next morning the captain said those plans were canceled as well due to ice to we headed back to rekjavik. Greenland is more likely canceled. Be prepared for cancellations and being stuck inside ship due to cold/incliment weather. Unfortunately the star does not have spinnaker lounge which would have helped spread out people since outside was mostly closed. It would be great to do a thorough analysis on when the sweet spots are on the calendar for regular cruise ships to make their port of calls in greenland. The smaller ships like hurtgrudden didnt seem to have a problem.
  6. We enjoyed Ocean Blue for our first time on the Getaway although my parents did order the fried seafood feast and thought there was too much breading. I ordered the ciopino and thought it was excellent. I got the spicy shrimp and crabcake or lobster bisque as appetizer. I was happy. Great dinner on the waterfront. I think next time I may try one of thier grilled fish options. Getaway Dec 2023
  7. Thanks!!! We have some decisions to make lol. We are heading out shortly for dinner.
  8. Going to be spending a few nights in Seward soon and wondering if anyone has any food/dining out recommendations? Thanks!
  9. wow. Didnt know they were going to try to get to Greenland this early in the season until i heard about this on youtube. That is a challenging area for sure.
  10. It seems like a logistical problem that needs work. The port and or ncl needs to space out the landings on the pier to effectively get people where they need to go instead of debarking all ships at about the same time. Perhaps improve infrastructure to better accomodate the 10k people allowed per day.
  11. Fantastic! Those links for live cams are great!!
  12. Cruising in a few weeks in Alaska, Seward to Vancouver. Just curious how things are in Alaska right now such as scenery, wildlife, etx. I think they received heavier than normal snowfall this past year. Thanks!
  13. Very nice shots! What lenses were you using? Im leaving less than three weeks.
  14. it is! and yes they pick up right from ward cove, looks like ncl is sold out already. we booked it through the excursion company directly and saved $150. we may cancel and just hang out it town. we may just want to see ketchikan proper instead of being on a boat. Idont really like the stage seating on the crab boat.
  15. thanks, the meeting point is at berth 3. Still working logistics out. we may not do it or just pay the additonal 150 to do through ncl.
  16. Thanks! Ive read Ketchikan is about 20min drive from Ward Cove. We dock at 1pm in Ward Cove and the excursion we bought meets at 215pm.
  17. Simple question, is it possible to get off ship that is docked in ward cove and make it to ketchikan in a timely manner? I booked an excursion outside of ncl to save about $200 but I dont know if timing will be an issue. We will have a little over an one hour to get from ship to meeting point for excursion. I also dont know if NCL will let everyone off ship after docking or those who have ncl excursions will be allowed to depart first. Thanks!
  18. We are doing southbound on Jewel in June. Airfare was challenging. Bought about a month after it posted. Alaska air to anchorage and united back home. Had to stay a night in vancouver after cruise to get a decent flight home. We liked the longer port times. We are staying three nights in seward prior to cruise. booked our lodge over a year out. Only big mistake i have made is we are flying into anchorage late, approx 8pm but have to get up pretty early next day to get on train to seward. if I had to do it again id stay two nights in seward or try to get a flight that got into anchorage a little earlier. We sailed on Jewel in early 2023 and it was great.
  19. When we were on the Getaway we got to Syds no later than one hour before show started. It was worth the wait but man that is a small venue for the amount of people who want to see the show.
  20. The Asian complimentary restaurants have never disappointed for sure! Love the green tea ice cream. The Ginza on the star and Chin Chin on Jewel were excellent with the same menu items. Noodles on Getaway was also good and has a different menu.
  21. Not many were eating there while I was on the getaway last month. Good to hear its complimentary now. The menu looks good!
  22. They sure did. Cant find them on the website anymore so i came here. Cant predict what NCL will do but IMHO doubt they will reverse back to original itinerary. At least they didn't wait till last minute to change and have given cruisers the opportunity to keep cruise or change.
