  1. You’re right, you specify the protein to the cook. I noticed that even when people asked for “double”, they pretty much got the same amount as a regular (not double) order.
  2. Another confirmed on FB that the Christmas week sailing of Sunshine JiJi switched over to “menu style” at lunch from “cafeteria style”. That was the week after we sailed. The menu style she posted is much more abbreviated than shown upthread for other JiJis. 5 choices are set - no mix and match protein and sauce. (Steak = Szechuan. Chicken = Bean. And shrimp is gluten free, rice noodles. No options to switch among.)
  3. Doug, Sunshine has a JiJi’s. Wonderful restaurant at night but at least as of December 2022 for lunchtime was Mongolian wok style counter service - you line up and see above. No menu.
  4. Obviously then JiJi’s vary! On the Sunshine lunchtime has been Mongolian wok style. You stand in line, grab a bowl, fill with noodles and assorted veggies, hand to a chef and specify the protein and the sauce. They cook it up and hand it back to you. last sail I had was mid-Dec 2022.
  5. To be clear this is at LUNCH TIME. Has always been standing in line for Mongolian wok, whereas Cucina is order off a limited fixed pasta menu and they beep you when ready. Person on FB even posted a picture of the purported new “menu” - very much like Cucina’s, with 5 or so fixed choices, eg steak + noodles + Szechuan sauce, chicken + noodles + bean sauce, GLUTEN free shrimp + rice noodles etc.
  6. I saw in a Facebook group that JiJi’s is no longer Mongolian wok style at lunch, but rather a very limited menu similar to how Cucina is at lunchtime? If this is true, I’m really surprised at that change given the volume they could process as compared to Cucina lunchtime. Can anyone confirm? We sailed in December and it was wok style as can be inferred from this post!
  7. On his FB page John Heald is saying basically suck it up, you are paying approximately the same per drink as at the bar(s). But that is apples and oranges. Their bar prices are roughly comparable to land bar prices when a la carte, and lower when using Cheers. But buying a bottle is now a gigantic mark-up plus a delivery fee that no where near approximates the cost of the service.
  8. Screen grab of the former dewars offering which still shows up if you search for scotch but the link to order is of course dead.
  9. Crazy. A liter of 12 year old Dewars used to be $90. Now it is $120 (maybe $130?) for Dewars White Label which is basically undrinkable.
  10. Can someone post on John Herald’s page that there is no live link?
  11. Turtle, I have been looking for your original long thread which I saw about a year ago. Can you post a link?
  12. We had one of these on dawn and all we had to do was close the curtains. We certainly could use the balcony. And we have for this upcoming trip as well. Daylight Panama Canal. Should be awesome from these.
  13. Is the “included” specialty dining meal for two, or is each “meal” per person? So if I have two available, is that me and a guest twice, or just once for both of us? Also, looking at specialty for my upcoming cruise it lists pricing for le Bistro and Cagneys “by item” (a la Carte). Does not allow me to select as one of my included options. Am I looking in the wrong place and if so where do you find the link to make resies for specialty dining included in ones package? TIA
  14. Trying to decide whether to upgrade drink package. Does Cagney’s by itself include fresh juice at breakfast? And do they still serve French press coffee? TIA!
  15. The similar cabin on Dawn came with the “perk” of breakfast and lunch in Cagneys. Does the perk exist for non-Haven suites on NCL jewel?
  16. Thanks! We’ve been traveling Carnival a lot recently as they port in several nearby cities, but I am fed up with the heavy rules that come with their beverage plan. We used to typically cruise NCL and this may tip us back. If anyone can answer where you can get fresh oj outside of the MDR?
  17. Considering upgrading. One attraction is the fresh squeezed juice - but we typically do breakfast in the buffet. I suppose that means a trip somewhere to get the fresh stuff? Do bars typically stock? Traveling on Joy if that matters. Also, someone mentioned a two drink limit. If I had my husband’s card (and mine). Could I get two doubles of eg top drawer scotch at the same time? And - will they give you unopened bottles of soda/sparking water to bring to your room?
  18. Maybe bring a photo of your mom in a frame for the room? Or do you still have something of hers like a pillow or lap blanket that she liked you can bring to remind you of her? Meet with your Dad for 15 planned minutes or so in the “chapel’ and say things that remind you of her and cruising?
  19. My most recent cruises are on Carnival where you have to wait 5 minutes between pours. Is that not the case on NCL?
  20. Well, the bar drinks are hardly a real pour for one. Plus, would like to have at our leisure. Not racing down a melting glass into the cabin. I don’t mind a premium for a full liter to enjoy i our room on our own schedule. Actually, I would LIKE that. And yes, we have the bev package.
  21. We’re in suite on the Jewel. would love to hear current experiences.
  22. Carnival has stopped that. DH and I really enjoy having a cocktail on our balcony (we still get the drink package) Can this be ordered ahead of time? Once onboard?
