  1. The last sentence posted here proves the case! (If it is truncated, this person concluded with “Maybe my comments hit too close to home …”)
  2. You said exactly what I was thinking. What a pompous comment. I would rather travel with folks from “flyover country” than this attitude any day.
  3. You do have a fantastic current aft cabin! Are you sailing during a vacation period when ship likely to be super crowded with kids? That might tilt towards YC. Also are you happy with your current dining time? I believe it is hard to change it with Fantastica. But then with specialty dining you will have some nights you can switch. If not, maybe stick with what you have. That is a huge savings. (I’d probably ditch the cabana though - there is a lot of great shaded seating all through the island, to me the cabin would not be worth it. They are nothing special though the island itself is.) if you do upgrade, cancel both the specialty dining and the cabana. You won’t need either in YC. BTW I am a dedicated YCer but I can see the attraction of an aft corner plus dramatically lower costs.
  4. Same problem, for the last week or so. Not a new account, we have been sailing MSC for over five years. I get same “wrong country” error whether using my laptop, iPad or iPhone, and regardless of browser. I have also tried logging in just using cell service and not my home wi-fi. My husband reports the same problem. I’ve confirmed we are not logged into the MSC app. We did recently return from an MSC cruise, and the problem started about them. (But I also experienced the same issue a few months ago, no travel in that time frame). I can log in with a future booking number, but that does not give me access to my full account which is what I want!
  5. I’ve been denied locking into my account for over a week - I always get an error that I am blocked, I need to log in from my country of origin. I am in the United States, using the msccruiseusa website as always in the past. Same problem whether using my phone, iPad, or laptop. And whether using our internet or logging in over cell service. this happened once a few months ago but resolved itself over a weekend. Anyone else?
  6. I miss Skier 51, he has not posted in several years …
  7. Also this image, Skier 51 again. One of the yellow standard YC1
  8. For most people no, you cannot see over them sitting down.
  9. YC2 are 3 cabins on Deck 12 that are YC experience. No balcony as stated. However they are two room suites and have floor to ceiling windows facing front. They are especially nice on cooler day sea day intensive cruises and transatlantics. (Note that the middle one, 12002, is quite a bit smaller though still two rooms. No separate shower unlike the other two.)
  10. That exact cabin is not in this image but balcony is the same as 15025 in the post #14. Standard YC1. Credit Skier 51
  11. In our experience “international clientele” is 70% plus of MSC cruising out of US ports. And yes, we don’t share the same “etiquette”! Pack your patience! And reach out to meet others
  12. I believe the MSC $5 entree charge is for a third entree, but I am not positive … Carnival now charges $5 for a third entree. This is positioned as to reduce food waste as people were ordering 3 or more entrees just to “taste” them, resulting in incredible waste. And yes of course a cost component. if that charge reduces ford waste and unnecessary wasteful costs (thus keeping pricing in check) I am all in favor of this particular “nickel and dime” charge. Frankly I would expect to see it happen in other lines. It is a charge that makes good sense.
  13. Like a Keurig but makes espresso size. You get unlimited pods so you can fill up to “normal” size. I highly recommend bringing a yeti-type coffee cup so you can easily transport to the pool deck.
  14. YC is essentially “first class on steroids”. It is a class of service that includes its own luxury area of the ship, dining room, lounge, decks, pool, hot tubs, bar, personal butler service. It is freakin’ awesome. The rest of the ship is a “normal” cruise. YC is not.
  15. Ryan’s name tag still says “Assistant Waiter” but he is in the apparent role of acting “full” waiter Divina Jan 2024 …
  16. Bad knees - cannot do stairs. Anyone know the drill (pun intended) for that?
  17. Same thing happened to me last night, using an iPad. But now everything is working fine. Weird.
  18. Where is parking these days for Divina?
  19. We second the Onil shout out! And the others mentioned. I do miss Arthur!
  20. We are trying to book shore excursions on the website and keep getting error message “activities not available” followed by an error message. This has happened on everyone we’ve checked - and we checked many that normally would not be sold out. Is this a website glitch or is everything sold out? Sny advice/thoughts appreciated.
  21. Staying in a “full” (non-haven) suite, category SD. is there a laundry perk for full suites like some other lines? I have not seen mention of it … Also does platinum get more than one bag on a 12 day cruise?
  22. A woman on Facebook is asking about service dog relief areas on MSC, specifically MSC Seaside. She is not getting clear answers from MSC though it is being suggested by MSC that they supply pee pee pads for use in cabin bathroom. That won’t work for her service guide dog. I *think* I’ve seen a makeshift relief area (box + sawdust) in an out of the way place on promenade on an MSC ship but not sure. Any experiences from y’all seasoned service dog cruisers?
