The Regent Navigator is the ship Hot Root and were on last February. There is a bridge over the river before arriving in downtown Saigon. Only ships low enough to go under the bridge can dock there.

mj_holiday,
Thanks for the wonderful review including the detailed descriptions of the tours - very much appreciated.
I'm glad your trip went well!

2012_Alaska_bound,
You are correct: Social Travelers.
Regardless of the title, it is an excellent experience.

Clarky,
I agree - the Singles Group on Regent - all the ships - is terrific. Well organized and very enjoyable.
Thanks for talking about it.

I've never heard noise between cabins on the Navigator - on deck, between the elevators.

I will bow to the people who clearly have far more specifics than I do!

Hi Nancy,

ClefsDor,
I was referring to the Ocean View cabins specifically - the ones on the same deck as Reception on Serenity. Thanks for the clarification.

I think the 214sq ft cabins on the Serenity are mostly mostly used for staff and entertainers. That includes the Dance Hosts, Religious people and the like as well as performers and lecturers. I don't think in general, they are used by passengers.
I'm sure Keith will know the specifics and can correct my details.

Gilbert told me he'd done the WC in the past - we talked about a few mutual friends. He's very good at his job - knows what's going on all over the room and handles people - passengers and staff - very well.
I hope he'll be on another SS ship when I sail again.

Gilbert was on the Cloud the beginning of August

If only that worked. I've tried for a long time, on a number of trips and still have the same issue.

They are our favorite group on Regent. But I agree with TC that this group and most others get way too loud before dinner.
I find the volume of all the music all over the ship too loud including all the shows.

Dan,
My thoughts are with you.

A correction for Fletcher's posting:
Regent Navigator does not have a Forward Observation Lounge - all the other sip's do. The Explorer - and I assume the Splendor - have Forward Lounges but neither have the outside Forward deck which the older ships have.

When I've used them, they've belonged to the cruise/river boat line - see Portolan's post #16.
The guide is given a specific unit - I don't have a clue about the tech details - with a microphone. It's a great system!

Rallydave: I think whispers may be a nickname Smart Vox may be the real one.
You make a good point re: cost and maintenance.

Thanks for the heads up! I look forward to hearing your reaction after your trip.

rallydave: whisperers
I've used them on several River cruises and on Voyage to Antiquities and Silver Sea - they work well!

I wish Regent would use Whispers . . . .I think that's the name.

If you can't have the Yellow Fever shot because of medical issues, check to see if a letter from your Doctor will work for Regent.

refrigerator: good point. My best guess is that the card controls the lights only.
