  1. Some sailings used to have a pub quiz trivia in the Red Frog Pub around 9-10 pm. Phones were not allowed, and the questions were not themed-based. We won a few nights of that, including a tiebreaker to guess the age of the host's assistant. Prizes included a medal and bottle of champagne or fish bowl each night. ETA: We used to do pub quizzes at our local bar and were winners/runner-ups most times, so we got really good at random trivia.
  2. One of our local gas stations has the best broasted chicken in the city. Pretty sure they have one person come in to make it daily, but the cashiers serve it using tongs.
  3. Women Talking was a fantastic movie that should have won more awards. We read more about what actually happened after we saw the movie.
  4. I was not online early enough to make comments before you revealed the context. I've seen this franchise enough times to recognize that building instantly.
  5. I picked up on the 10-year thing but lost a few years on Sid's age. I didn't realize you are older than me.
  6. Based on some of your musical tastes and things that have been discussed in other threads, my guess would be that you are turning 40 today.
  7. We flew out the day our cruise ended because we all agreed that we wanted the extra relaxing day at home instead of in Rome. We flew in 3 days before we left, which allowed us to acclimate to the time difference and sightsee before we sailed.
  8. When you are back in the States and caught up on sleep, we can discuss my upcoming travel plans in the other spots (thread or you know where).
  9. I have a trip showing without gratuities added, and if I click the prepay option, it is at the old rate. I do not use a TA.
  10. Land tours can be fun and much more relaxing with the ability to spread everything out and not cram a location into one day. We are a month out from another European vacation with two new to us countries (out of three, one being the only location I would be willing to move to outside of the US). I know a few basic phrases for one country but without knowing the others. We have gotten good at communicating through appropriate gestures and the fact that, generally, they all know English. We stay in Airbnbs in Europe and find the hosts always helpful if needed to help bridge any language gap.
  11. We were lucky enough to be there on a land trip with one full day in Amsterdam to do everything before we flew out the next morning. We fit a number of the standard tourist things into one very full day. Windmills, Marken, Volendam half-day trip. Anne Frank House with the introductory program and canal trip (and it was in March, so the sunset was earlier). With the short notice change and things being more limited, it is a sign that you need to go back. 😉
  12. I definitely recommend a canal tour. We were able to do the candlelight option with wine/snacks and had a fantastic time.
  13. Not true. My collapsible cooler capacity holds up to 24 cans and measures 11.81" x 9.25" x 9.25". The only issue I've had is stewards who put too much ice in, and it pops the cooler because some of that ice is sharp.
  14. Things like this are why I check my flights/seats every few days for our next few flights. Also, why I'm glad not to be flying AA/BA since they seem to be having problems still.
  15. I tried to order this cross body bag and picked the wrong size, got the slim. Now I have to wait for it to deliver so I can return for the larger size. Thanks for the suggestion I needed a new purse either way.
  16. There are many interesting destinations across the pond. We head back to Europe next month and visit my favorite non-cruise destination (unless you are on the pricy river cruise).
  17. Water, NSAIDs, small first aid kit. A place to store the wine/liquor I buy on shore so it is easier to carry back.
  18. If rules haven't changed you can purchase it anywhere. We bought wine at every port last year (Italy, Greece, Turkey).
  19. They can be used for other things as well. Such as finding the ship if you go exploring on your own or finding your vehicle if in a large parking lot/garage. Mine currently reside in my suitcase but if we go to a Chiefs game this year I will be taking one with. ETA - I have Tiles since my phone is a Samsung.
  20. This is why I always have some cheap earbuds with me incase we forgot our headphone cords. Although long haul flights we are usually offered headphones for free.
  21. We are about 200 miles away from the closest stores to get Blue Bell, and it is a favorite. Every time we are far enough south, we get a pint/gallon depending on how much time we have to eat it.
  22. I was curious which 4 movies you were talking about for this weekend.
