BlackJack2 Posted September 3, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2018 We will be in Terre-de-Haut, lles des Saintes, Guadeloupe in November. Does anyone have any information on this port? Has anyone done any private tours from Terre-de-Haut? Is it easy to walk from the tender dock into town and walk to Fort Napoleon? Any information would be greatly appreciated! sunfl0wer Posted September 12, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 12, 2018 We've been there twice. Yes, you can walk much of the island if you're in good shape. That's what we did the first time. There are nice beaches on the Atlantic side, but there might be kelp as well. The walk up to the fort is a bit strenuous and hot (not much shade). Views are great when you get there. You can also rent scooters or golf carts at the port, using a credit card and US drivers license. Two people on a scooter will be a challenging ride uphill to the fort. Husband rode up, I walked most of the way. Scooter didn't have enough power to go uphill with two riders. Other than the hill to the fort, no problem with the scooter on the rest of the island. We're going back in Feb. 2019. Might try the golf cart option. The fort accepted only Euros for entry, no credit cards or dollars. Don't count on finding an ATM for Euros. Get some before you depart the US.
Lidolounger Posted September 14, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 14, 2018 Do you have a contact for the golf carts?

It was picturesque and a wonderful spot to relax and take photos. Have a nice meal in town at one of the little bistros and taking some time to peruse the artwork--a lovely memory of an awesome day on a fabulous little island! And yes, bring Euros! (can't answer the golf cart question--doesn't seem to be an option--you could probably rent a car instead.

CruisingFox27 Posted November 2, 2018 #8 Share Posted November 2, 2018 We are sailing to Pointe-à-Pitre this month, we'd hoped to get a taxi at the port and take a tour of the island and then stop off at a beach for a few hours. Would this be simple enough to arrange and has anyone experience of taxi costs.
suzeshoes Posted November 2, 2018 #9 Share Posted November 2, 2018 It such a small island. We walked around town and to the beach so cannot comment on the taxi situation and costs. It’s very nice to explore on foot. Whatever you do, remember they use Euros, so have some with you....

Do you have any information regarding price and are there many available when you get off the ship. Any replies greatly needed!
CruisingFox27 Posted January 12, 2019 #11 Share Posted January 12, 2019 Sadly we didn't, didn't really see any readily available unlike all of the other ports. However, @sidari recently posted they'd arranged an excursion around the island. We were very disappointed that we were unable to do an island tour here.
