Shared transfer from airport to cruise port

How can I transfer from airport to cruise port?

Most cruise lines sell coach transfers from local airport(s) to the cruise terminal the morning of the cruise.

But since they are priced per person, for two (or more) people in most US ports--and many foreign--it is more economical (and as pointed out below, faster) to just jump in a taxi.

Whether or not this is the most practical for you depends on which port. We have no idea if the distance between airport and cruise port is on the order of FLL to Port Everglades [a 10 minute hop] or LHR to Dover [a 2.5 hour sojourn]. Which is why for specific advice we need a specific city.

We MUST know what airport AND which port! Then we can give you an answer that will be correct. If you order the ship's bus to the port, you usually have to wait until the bus is full- which is OK if you are among the last to get on. If you're a first, then you have to wait and wait.

Sometimes a cab is best way and for less$$ to get to a ship.

WHAT AIRPORT, WHAT SHIP?

Without knowing where you are talking about, a generic answer is that "yes you can share a ride." The best way would be to go to the Roll Call for your cruise, and then find someone on about the same schedule. Also depending on where you are, there might be a train that takes you from the airport to the center of town, and then you can take a taxi to the ship. A taxi from the airport to the ship is always possible, and you can go to the Ports of Call section to see how expensive that would be.

The only place that sticks out is Rome, where the port is over an hour away. There we arranged a van for several couples who had stayed overnight in Rome.

Obviously much depends on where you are talking about.

Far from "the only place". Let's add some more to the list:

Southampton

Dover

Warnemunde

Reykvavik

Anchorage

Valparaiso

Port Said

Bangkok

Shanghai

Beijing

All are places where I have started/ended cruise segments.
